Lakewood Nursing Center is a nursing home, and they do their job more or less. My wife is sick and is taken care of, that's about it, nothing's outstanding and nobody does anything special there. She gets her meals, she gets taken cared of, and she gets her medicine. I don't have a big complaint about it either. It costs a lot of money, and I'm paying about $7500 a month to be there, and if we keep doing that I'll go broke in a few years. She can't get out of bed by herself, they're still using a Hoyer lift, but they told her that they'll quit and just use physical assistance to get her out of bed. She's improving, and some of the staff members are really quite good, but some of the staff give you the feeling that they can't wait to go home. I have not tried the food, but I've seen her get food and it looked OK. There are things there that are not maintained properly. The men's toilet in the lobby has not been operable for about a month. It's very expensive, unless you qualify for some government program, then it's fine.

My grandfather spent nearly two months at Lakewood and I was there nearly every day to personally view the day to days at Lakewood. Lakewood is an excellent facility with qualified, skilled nursing staff that is very caring. From their receptionist, to the dining staff, to the administration, Lakewood goes above and beyond to make the residents and family feel welcome and well taken care of. My grandfather went into hospice while at Lakewood and passed away there. The staff made a very sad situation for our family, comfortable and peaceful. Thank you, Lakewood staff! I would highly recommend Lakewood for your loved ones.
