My mother has been placed at The Gardens of Eastbrooke. They're very one on one there. It's a locked-down facility for those with Alzheimer's and dementia. They have a lot of activities to keep the folks there and their minds busy, and keep them going. They treat her well there, they're very good. She likes the food, they have three square meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Her room is very clean, you bring your own furniture because they don't supply that. So you bring your own bed and so forth for your family member to make them feel at home more. They do things like word games, puzzles, and board games to keep them occupied and keep them thinking more, they also have TVs.

I went to look at The Gardens of Eastbrooke. They spent time with us in the office before we went to look at the facilities, and they made it sound wonderful. But when we walked in the door, it was just gross. There's a smell of urine. The people are confined inside. They wouldn't even let people out of the courtyard. They had the door locked up, and it was just two hallways and a lunchroom that felt like a junior high lunchroom with plastic tables and metal chairs. They were blaring rock music, not even music from the people's era. It was just horrendous. I could never even dream of leaving my mother there. It looks nice on the outside. The staff seemed nice. The owner was there and talked to us. They talked great, but when I saw the conditions inside the home, it didn't look good at all.

The Gardens of Eastbrooke had everything necessary for my husband's needs, but it looked more like a hospital. I wanted a little more homelike setting. They were serving food at that time and some people were eating, but I didn't pay attention to what was served there. They do a bunch of activities and they even have a calendar, so even the family knows what they are doing. They have different areas with a TV. There was an activity coordinator. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I didn't see anything wrong anywhere.

The tour at The Gardens of Eastbrooke was very helpful. I like the director who gave the tour. She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and caring. There were a lot of patients in the common areas. One negative thing was that it kind of smelled.

The rooms are nice and the staff have been a blessing to me and my mom. I visit mom three times a week and every time I go it is an amazing experience. Audrey the nurse is a blessing as well as all the Administrative staff. My mom seems to love it and that gives me peace of mind.

We toured The Gardens of Eastbrooke. It's memory care, and I think that's all they do. Its a smaller facility. It's about forty years old, but they're doing some major renovations because someone purchased it recently. I don't believe they have assisted living; it's all memory care and Alzheimer's, which is what my mom has. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. When we got there, the staff was excellent, and the facility was almost perfect, even though they're undergoing major renovations. I like the layout, and I like the way the rooms were set up. The dining room was excellent, and our tour guide was exceptional.

I wasn't impressed with Eastbrook Gardens. It's meant more for memory care. The residents looked very sad, and it wasn't an environment I would want for my grandmother. I saw one room because they only had one opening, and it was not great. Even though I had an appointment, they didn't know I was coming, so they had to hunt somebody down to talk to me. I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork, and overall, I was just very unimpressed.

Eastbrooke Grdens has been an amazing find for my family...after two other terrible facilities in Florida we finally found the best one for Alzheimer's care. They are very caring and very compassionate...while my mother was in the other assisted living places she was restless and agitated, no one helped her other then offering more drugs... At Eastbrook she is calm relaxed and well taken care of..thank you for changing my moms life for the better....

I don't have good feelings for Eastbrooke anymore, not the way they got rid of him. They took good care of him for six years, but when he went into the hospital with some vomiting and diarrhea issues, which were nothing major, they didn’t even inform me. I found out from the hospital the next day when a doctor called me, so when I called Eastbrooke, they told me it was a new director and a new nursing director, that they were transforming the place, and that they would not really take my dad back from the hospital because they did not have staff to care for his needs anymore, but he was no worse than he was when he went there. This new nurse director had only been there for four days, so she didn't even know my dad, and then she said he can't come back. He is 91 years old, he's been there six years, he has dementia, and then not to be able to go back to the place that he had gotten so used to is terrible. It took us two months to find a new place; it was really hard. The hospital put him in rehab, and rehab kept him as long as they could. Finally, they said, "You know, you got two more weeks, you've got to find a place because Medicare won't pay anymore." Communication for one thing could use some work; they did not inform family at all. I think they should have given us notice -- at least written notice -- and not tell us when he was in the hospital that they cannot take him back. We need time, and it would have been nice to have a month's notice, so we could start looking for another place.

The staff was very helpful at Eastbrooke Gardens, I would consider them. The fees were a little high. I have financial things to work out, but I was very pleased with them. They informed me about what they offered and all was good. The place was OK. The surroundings were very nice; I wouldn’t mind living there myself. They have social activities; patients just don’t sit in their rooms and stare at the wall. They are encouraged to get up and do things and participate. I didn’t taste any of the food so I don’t know how that was, but it looked good. They had a chef and a kitchen and all that stuff. The grounds were nice and very well-kept. The rooms were very clean, nice showers, bathrooms; all appeared very good. They have some Alzheimer’s patients and patients with just memory problems that are Alzheimer’s related.

Eastbrook Gardens was a facility for dementia and it is an okay facility. They advised me not to come for a couple of weeks and give him time to adjust, but in the meantime he fell, had a brain bleed, and died. I met him the first day and had lunch with him. They specialize in dementia and a lot of the people looked very happy, so I guess they’re doing a good job. It was kind of homey; it was not real fancy or contemporary, and it seemed that they had good programs to keep him busy. I like the fact that if he didn’t like what they were serving, he could request a hamburger, a hotdog, or a sandwich. The food was good and the nursing staff seems good. The nicest part about it was had he lived a long time, he would have had hospice there too. The communication about the medical care -- as I was trying to get him some psychiatric care -- was difficult; I just couldn’t make any headway with getting answers and I think they need to improve on that area.

Eastbrooke Gardens is a very large community and it has a mixture of patients. The building is updated and the facility is nice. The staff was at times overwhelmed because of the number of patients, the level of work, and the lack of employees -- especially during the weekend. You have patients roaming and staff missing. There was an odor of urine and other mixtures -- it just did not turn out to be what I expected.

The entire staff is so caring and supportive. The Valentine Party was huge success. The activities Director held a candlelight meal for residents and spouses which was great. I'm so glad to have found this facility.

Having mom in Eastbrook Gardens is the best move I made for her. My mom is a friendly person. She comes from a strong Christian background. She always says "God Bless You" to the staff. She always hugs and kisses them and the staff handles that so well. There was no rejection. They embrace her for who she is. They are like family to her. Everyone handles my mother well.

Eastbrooke Gardens is an amazing place!! My mother entered as a resident on Nov. 1st of 2012 and it was a difficult thing to do. We followed the recommendations of the staff and Mom made a great transition. they provide a lot of fun activities for the residents and are very quick to answer any questions you have about the care they provide and concerns you may have. this is the first time I have had to place a parent in a residence like this and I am so happy with the results. One of the things I appreciate is how much they make it seem like they are caring for their own family member. It is that sense of family that i so enjoy. We visit often because of the welcome we get from the staff!! Thank you to staff: Mary, Jamie, Ellen, Amanda, Douglas, Maria and all the others who make eastbrooke Gardens a great place for a relative with alzheimers/dementia. Thank you!!!
