The tour at The Lodge at Truitt Homestead was very comprehensive. We got to physically look at their various departments, which was very helpful. I think I liked it all. I asked a couple of the residents if they liked living there, and they said they did very much. The room was very nice. The only question I always have is storage. I was told that they have an agreement with the local storage area, but the individual ones at the lodge were not there. We saw a number of people participating in certain activities. We saw some gentlemen playing poker. We saw some ladies doing mahjong. We went to an area that looked like a library, and a couple ladies were reading. There were a couple of apartments that were being cleaned, and the staff seemed to be very nice. The facility was very clean. It was a very nice tour. For people who can afford it, it's a perfect fit.

I had an in-person tour of The Lodge at Truitt Homestead. The facility was beautiful. They had some larger accommodations and some just a few hundred square feet. If independent living was what I needed, I would certainly consider it. The staff was very nice. They had a courtyard where people could go outside and sit. They had some activities. They had a bar and activity rooms. They had a dining room, but they didn't really expect you to use it very much because the meal allowance was not very big. You would pay a lot extra for meals, and I didn't like that very much. Each apartment had a full kitchen, and it was very nice.

We went to The Lodge at Truitt Homestead several times. We put our name on the waiting list. We were very impressed and liked everything, the way it was laid out, what they made available to you, what they took care of. The people were so very, very nice. Just everything was just so great. They seemed to be very knowledgeable and they didn't act like a salesperson trying to promote something. They were more like an individual interested in our needs and what we were looking for, and they were more interested in us than being a big promoter. We tried the food and it was very good. They have a full kitchen and then they have a washer and dryer as well. Every apartment has a balcony or a patio, and they have a very nice big courtyard, which they say they use very much during the summer. They have a swimming pool, which is enclosed. However, one wall opens up in summertime, making it more of an outdoor pool.
