My mom is currently at Brookdale Dover. She is memory care and my dad and my sister said that they like it. Everything is clean and the people there are very caring. I did a Zoom call with her, but I haven't seen her room since she moved in. I just saw a sample room to get an idea of what it's going to look like in there, and it looked nice and was set up with a bed and a dresser. My sister said that the day they brought her in, the breakfast smelled and looked good. They bring in different pets for the residents, like pet therapy, they have some exercise activities, then they have an outdoor area where they can sit on the benches with flowers and things like that. One thing also is since she's been there, she's been able to have her hair done. A lady comes in once a week and does their hair for a small fee. So, she's had hair done several times, which I'm very thankful for. Everyone I've talked to has been extremely good and very helpful so far.

Brookdale Dover is a small facility. It's very nice. The staff was really nice and the nurse was really nice. The clients were wonderful. It seemed it was not updated as much as far as the furniture and the place. The rooms looked nice, they were small, but they did not look updated. The dining area was nice but seemed more like a cafeteria. In the middle of the building was like a seating area/garden. They can go out safely. They have no access to the outside, so it's safe. That was nice. So, in the summertime or spring, the clients can sit out there.

Brookdale Dover was well kept and it looked nice. It wasn't high-end or fancy. It was a good place if you're just looking for care for your loved ones. Everything was clean and reasonably orderly. Genevieve, their main sales administrator, gave me a full tour. She was very calm. She spoke with me for quite a while about cost and what services were provided at the facility. We toured the different rooms in the assisted living. The rooms were smaller and less high-end. They had access to small refrigerators and microwaves, but they didn't have actual kitchenettes. But the amenities in terms of food and outdoor spaces for the residents to explore were all very reasonable. They had a central courtyard that was quite nice. They had a pet rabbit in the courtyard, which was quite cute. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. They did a COVID test just because they were trying to be cautious. Overall, I was impressed with them.

We toured the assisted living at Brookdale Dover. I didn't see the memory care because based on what we had communicated, they thought that mom was going to go into assisted living. Then the nurse did an assessment and they felt that she needed to go into memory care, but their cost was significantly higher and that's why we didn't go with them. They were very receptive. There was somebody to meet us. They even had a sign with our name on it, welcoming us. The reception was great. I've got a lot of individualized attention and a lot of conversation about my mom and what she needs. They talked about the facility and what they offered. One of the things I appreciated about them was that they knew that this was a difficult decision for us and I think they were very caring and shared stories and some personal experiences to kind of maybe minimize our anxiety. They were good at just kind of understanding that we were having a rough time. It was nice, bright, and very clean. The staff during the tour was excellent. I think it's because she's been in the field a long time and also had a lot of experience with families that had to make this decision that's a very difficult one and was empathetic to our situation and was willing to work with multiple siblings. She made sure that everybody was involved because a couple of siblings don't live in the States, so that was very helpful. We saw different groups engaged in different activities. There was bingo and there was an exercise group.

Brookdale Dover looked like a nice place to live, if you were looking for a studio apartment (we were looking for a one-bedroom). They had gardens that the residents could go out into. The lady that took me on the tour was very nice.

We toured Brookdale Dover. They had quite a few activities to offer. The rooms are all the same. There is a studio kind of place, and they're rather spacious. They have a top chef that works there in the kitchen. Their staff appreciate and admire their director, which is pretty important. They have a bunny rabbit, and I thought that was sweet that they had kind of pet therapy built-in, so that was nice. Their room had a little kitchenette and closet space like a cupboard kind of thing. They were together and they were towards the back. It left plenty of space for a double or a queen-sized bed plus a seating area that you could have. The bathroom was one of those that had a completely walk-in shower with no lift or anything on it. They had a drain built into the floor, so it made it super easy if you needed to get out of a wheelchair or if you needed to put a shower seat in there. It prevented any trips and falls. The place was a little bit older and dated. It was a little bit dull. Everything was brown and white. It was a little dingy and not someplace that was bright and cheery. The people were great, and the activities were great. But it felt a little bit more like a nursing home than what we were looking for. It was well maintained but it was dated like they hadn't updated carpet and they hadn't updated the furniture. A lot of the furniture was kind of scratched, so you can tell that it's been there for a while, but is still in good repair. They had a salon, they had a dining area, and they had two living rooms. They had one upfront and then they had a larger one in the back where they did most of the activities. They had a couple of enclosed courtyards so that the residents could go outside without leaving the facility. They'll do shuttle services to doctor's appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They have an activities director, and they take the residents on outings. They included laundry services, three meals a day, snacks, water, plus room and board altogether. The cable and phone were separate. I was impressed with the staff. They knew their stuff, they were very friendly, and you could tell that they were a good team, and you're always looking for that. You want people who work well together. However, it was quieter and people were not as socially engaged.

Brookdale Dover was nice but they didn't have any rooms available. I didn't like the idea that they didn't have an outside area for my mother. I wouldn't be comfortable because there would be vehicles traveling around where the outside area was. When I went in there, all of the memory care people were just sitting in their chairs in front of the television, and they all looked extremely bored. I wanted to see some sort of activities going on. Even if my mother couldn't see, there'd be some kind of interaction, and I didn't see much of that. When I went there, the person that was supposed to give me a tour wasn't there so they had to find someone else to give me the tour. But they gave me a nice little tour and answered some of my questions. The rooms were all occupied but the place itself was clean and nice. The place where they were going to eat was a nice room. In the memory care, people were all locked into their area, and that was good. The dining was nice and clean and set up very nicely for the people to come in there and eat. I just didn't like the outside area of the facility. The staff that I met were all pleasant and nice and everything.

When I visited Brookdale Dover, it seemed like their staff was welcoming and friendly. The only negative is that it appeared to be an older facility that needed a little bit of an interior upgrade. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the facility. They seemed to be welcoming and everything, but the facility itself needs some upgrading. They did have a courtyard and a beauty salon, that's all that I was aware of. They do the best they can with what they're working on, and working as best they can considering it is an older building. It's a good location for me because of the convenience. It's not that far from me, and not that far for other family members to come visit. It is near the hospital.

We toured Brookdale Dover and saw the very lovely lobby, sitting area, dining room, and bedroom. We met a number of the residents, and they all seemed happy. Everyone spoke to us pleasantly. The place was clean as a whistle. Everyone was very, very efficient, friendly, and answered all of our questions. It was a very pleasant visit. I found it very pleasant. If we don't find one closer, that's the one I'm going to have my sister go to. The lady went out of her way to check out if there was a specialty therapist in the area because that's what my sister is going to need. She did that so that she would have the answer for me when we went there for the tour. I think that was a special effort.

Brookdale Dover was very clean. It was a little bigger place. It had some minor drawbacks, like it's on a major thoroughfare. Other than that, it was topnotch. Their memory care section was enclosed within the facility. The people can do a lot of a variety of different things depending on their ability. The staff looked very dedicated to the residents, too. They were very nice and very professional.

We went to look at Brookdale Dover. We really liked it. It's just that it was too much walking for my dad. The facility was very nice, and the people were very nice. We were very pleased with the facility. The building was very well kept, same with the grounds. It was very clean. The couple of rooms that we saw were very nice. The staff members were friendly and accommodating. They sent us home with a lunch, and it was delicious. Everybody liked it. There were several people out there painting ceramics, just talking, and stuff, which was really nice. We stayed there for a little bit and talked to everybody. The rooms were very well-kept and nice. They would have accommodated both my parents.

Brookdale Dover was lovely, but it was very hard to park. The staff members who accommodated me were amazing. The accommodations were wonderful. The only thing that I had an issue with there is that we did not have a place to get there, so it was hard to visit. The parking was an issue. That was the whole thing, not having a place to get there, but the rest of the place was fine. They had everything they had to give my mother, but we couldn't figure out how to get our vehicle in and out. It could be upgraded a little bit on the outside, but other than that, it was fine.

The people at Brookdale Dover seem to be very nice. The facility seems to be very clean. It's very close to my daughter's home. My wife is in the memory care unit. She has a large room, which I guess is adequate. We had to furnish it. I thought the food was excellent too. They have a dedicated memory care staff. They have activities every day. They also have a hair salon. You can go outside on nice days in an enclosed area that's safe and secure. I've looked at different places, and I thought this place was exceptionally clean.

My mom and my sister are both in Brookdale Dover. We chose it because of its pricing, availability, and its friendly location. So far our experience has been fine. The staff is fine, too, we have had no troubles with them, they're friendly, and keep you informed. They also say the food is good. The rooms are average, but I consider them small.

My Mom has been a resident of Asst Living Dover Brookdale since 2017. I commend the staff on their attention to the needs of residents. The staff provides games, bus rides, exercise, crafts, etc to occupy the residents with interactive adventures to keep their minds engaged. My Mom always says the meals are mostly good and she enjoys them. She is always treated well and greeted warmly by the staff . I didn't give 5 Stars across the board because there is always room for improvement but I would recommend Brookdale Dover to others that want a reasonably priced facility with good caring people working on the staff. Nothing is going to be perfect but Brookdale, for my Mom, is great.

I almost got my mom into Brookdale Dover. It was so-so. When you're talking about memory care unit, it was not as friendly as others. The staff was fantastic, and the rooms were OK. They had nice clean rooms. Residents were singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer when I was there. They were also getting ready for lunch, which was nice. The atmosphere was nice. The building was nice, clean and landscaped. There was a huge covered entrance. They could put a regular size bus there and get the people in and out. They take people out on road trips twice a week, i.e., once in the countryside and once around the town.

I was not impressed with Brookdale Dover at all. I had a scheduled appointment, but the receptionist was busy talking to another staff member, did not greet me, did not even say hello, nothing, just stood there having her personal conversation. I sat there for 20 minutes and waited, and they apologized and said the person was in another meeting which was understandable, but you don't hold a conversation with another staff member out in the front lobby about personal matters and not acknowledge somebody that comes in the building. I did not like that at all and that turned me off completely. I also did not see a lot of people out in the community, and I was like, "Where is everybody?" The representative I spoke to was very kind and seemed to know her business. The place appeared to be dark and just a building.

The following review is based on the skilled nursing part of the facility: Our family heard wonderful things about assisted living at Brookdale. We assumed that the quality of care would be just as high in the skilled nursing part of the facility. We were wrong. The staff is friendly, overall, but they are not skilled in the care of dementia patients. In fact, they often left my father to his own devices and then charged us extra for having to rectify the situation caused by their inattentiveness. The staff seemed flustered by customary dementia behaviors and they were consistently reactionary instead of proactive during my father's stay. In addition, Brookdale preys on those who are unfamiliar with all of the ins and outs of their contract. If you decide to enter this facility, do so at your own risk and make sure you have an attorney review the contract with a fine-toothed comb. My suggestion would be to seek an alternative skilled nursing facility. We have since moved our father out of Brookdale and are 100% happier with his new placement.

My mother is at Brookdale Dover. We chose it because it is small and has a warm atmosphere when you go in there. The people seem to be very friendly and know everybody in there and watch out for them. Also, the price is very affordable. It is just like going into a family home. It is so different from other places; this one does not give you a hospital-like feeling. People have large rooms. She shares a room with somebody. They have so many activities there. When I see the calendar, I actually get tired just looking at it because there are activities every hour at all hours. I go there every day and stay with her, so I have the feel for everything there. On Sunday, they have somebody from the outside come in and play the piano. The food is excellent.

We ended up going to Emeritus. It was very nice, and they were clean. It's an older facility, a little less expensive, but the people were super there. I could not say enough about the wellness center or the marketing director. They were very, very nice. She was in the memory section, but she came out to sleep in her room, and then in the morning, they would come down for her and she would go up into the memory section. It was like memory day care. There are lifeline things for free that they wear around their necks. I had no complaints with Emeritus. They took good care of Mother. I was there every week. They never knew when I was coming because I didn't go on the same day every week. Everything was always good. I never got an odor of pee or anything else in the hallway. They were always cleaning there. Anyone in the memory care had to be buzzed in and buzzed out. Anybody who was in the memory day care was allowed to just roam around, but they had people stationed, like the receptionist at the door. She was content to be there because she always talked about home. They invited my sister, me, and my mother to have lunch there one time. They had ham, potatoes, and string beans, and they had a cheesecake for dessert and iced tea. It wasn't bland; it was good. They had the option that, if they didn't like what they were having, they could have a hamburger or a sandwich. They had church services on Sunday, and Mother was Catholic, and they would have excursions with the bus. During the winter they didn't go out, but they would take them to K-Mart or some of the farm resorts that they have around. They would also take Mother to her doctor's appointments.

Emeritus is a very nice facility. The staff member who assisted me was very professional and knowledgeable. The rooms were very spacious compared to other facilities. They have the gamut of activities. The dining room was very pleasant and comfortable. The residents who were eating and dining there seemed to be enjoying each other’s company.

We chose Emeritus because it is nice. The room is a standard room. The people are apparently pleasant and know what they are doing. I have been getting good reports, and I haven't heard any complaints at all so far. However, I will suggest for it to remodel because the outside of the facility doesn't give future prospects a good impression

Emeritus was a nice facility. It was very clean and very well kept. It didn't have any odor. The staff was friendly. The dining area and the rooms were nice. It looked like it was an active community. However, it was kind of expensive.

Emeritus at Dover invited me and wife to come over for a lunch or dinner. The service was good. The people were very pleasant and friendly. The facility was a little bit old and needs repair. It reminded me of an old hotel that had been picked and turned into a facility that's being used as an assisted living place, but that wouldn't stop me from going there as I liked what I saw and I like the people.
