Maplewood at Southport is a very pretty facility both inside and outside. It is clean and well maintained. That's the only positive for this place. My mom was in the the Assisted Living/Memory Care floor. We found there wasn't enough staff coverage-long wait times to get assistance and a lack of good activities for the residents-lots of videos. We also found the Wellness Center staff to be less than fully helpful. Also we were promised farm to table food- instead hot dogs and pink-orange colored chicken were offered at one of the dinners. Needless to say a very disappointing and costly experience for my family.

The facility looks nice and clean, looks like a hotel. From our experience, there wasn’t enough staff. The memory programs were typically videos. The farm to table food menu was really more like cafeteria food, hot dogs, hamburgers, turkey roll. My family member did not like it there. It’s very expensive, for 10k per month the staffing and food miss the mark. We don’t recommend this facility.

I went to Maplewood at Southport. I think that was the most beautiful facility that I went to, it's the most modern, a lot of the activities they had been up to date like they provide them, Alexa, for all the different people in the community. They had virtual travel with VR technology. It had a nice courtyard area, and all the rooms were very nice also. The staff was great, and they gave me something to take to go.

My visit at Maplewood at Southport was good. They don't have a lot of rooms. As a matter of fact, they have very little room for new people coming in. They're pretty full, so they may not have the availability when I needed it. The overall appearance of the place was very good. Because of COVID, what they did is, they have one person at the front desk, and they didn't have people wandering around shaking hands with anybody, so I saw very few people. They have all of the amenities. They will drive you to the market or to the doctor's office if you want that, and you can still have your car there. In other words, you can bring in your car, and you can keep it there. It's a homey-type feeling.

I was sincerely welcomed for a tour of the brand new facility. Very knowledgable representatives. I'm proactive in planning for the future (75 years old) and I'm not ready yet for a senior center (too little private space, fixed meal plan),.. I'm dealing with the 12 stairs at home. I am very interested in Maplewood, but not yet.
