I was able to complete my tour of Holiday Farmington, and it was great. Great staff. Newly renovated areas. Spacious rooms. Clean hallways. And I think the staff was top-notch. They have an alert bracelet thing going on. They have lots of activities going on. They had live music playing when I walked in for the residents. They have a newly renovated dining room with some good selections and a nice menu.

Holiday Farmington was nice. Their apartments were very nice, new, and clean. The facility was lovely. The staff who took us around was very nice. He went and got us a couple of sandwiches, which were lovely. From the main facility, there was an outdoor space. It was a beautiful patio. The one thing that we did like was that we could bring our own washer and dryer and have that in the facility.

Holiday Farmington was outstanding. The staff was fantastic. A lot of times when you go into these places, they're kind of talking down to you because you're old, and you don't know what you're doing. This guy was phenomenal. He was just absolutely wonderful. It's very clean. The people there, you can tell, like it there, because they're very friendly to people just coming in off the street. I was struck by the fact that they have a physical therapist in the building. They have all kinds of activities and the transportation part is great to the point where the staff said that if two or three of the residents wanted to go to a particular restaurant, they would drive us there, and they would come back and get us. It's not just hospitals or doctors that they run transportation for. I was very impressed with that. It's an outstanding place. We saw the menus and they're very varied, but there's something there for everybody to eat. They also had a cafe if you didn't want to go to the dining room. People were coming in and getting coffee and Danish or cereal or whatever they wanted. The food looked very tasty. I like them very much.

I toured Holiday Farmington. I loved everything about the community and the tour. There was no reason not to choose them. The person who took care of us was knowledgeable and friendly and didn't mind being interrupted with questions. For every question, I asked some answers and wished they were different, but I could understand why they had to be the way they did. All their answers were good, and that's exactly the way I want to live. For right now, I would pick Holiday Farmington, it is gorgeous. The rooms were perfect, even better than the rooms I'm getting. There was a stove and refrigerator, and a full kitchen. They had coffee service all day long. Whenever you want a cup of coffee, you don't have to make it and have it alone in your room. You go downstairs, approach the machine, select your coffee, and sit down and have it. If Holiday Farmington were close, and if three years ago when I should have been going there, I would have moved there, but my special needs son is very important to me, and I want to be closer to him.

We lived in an independent living community in the past and that was very good. It's called Holiday Village Gate of Farmington. We stayed there for seven months. It was a nice place. I loved the porch. The food was good. The apartment was nice. We were treated well. There were activities that we enjoyed. It was a good place. And then the COVID virus hit there, and they quarantined everybody, and we couldn't leave our room, which wasn't so nice. One of the problems we ran into was that my partner was a smoker, and we weren't allowed to leave the room to go out to the smoking area, so we smoked in the apartment. They gave us no choice. If you're a smoker, you're a smoker, and so they said, 'Oh, you're smoking in the apartment, you broke the lease, you'll have to leave.' But they didn't give us a choice as to where to smoke. My partner tried to go out to the smoking area a couple of times, and even though she had a mask on, and no one else was around but the staff person, they sent her back to the room. She asked them, 'Where do I smoke?' And they said, 'I don't know.' So that was a problem. She wasn't the only one that was asked to leave me. Several people who had the same problem were asked to leave, and I don't think that was fair. Some staff were better than others, but they were all good. With regard to activities, we had some good times. It was good value. I would still be there if we hadn't had the problem with COVID and smoking. I left there about a year and a half ago. There was COVID in the facility and that's why we were quarantined.

Holiday Village Gate of Farmington was nice. The people that I met with were very friendly and helpful. I loved the place and I loved the porches. It was very clever the way they had cut a U-shaped opening in the bathtub, so they turned it into a shower that you could step into without having to climb over. I also had a nice lunch there.

I personally liked Holiday Village Gate of Farmington. It was homier than the other place. The people were friendly. The man that gave us the tour was very knowledgeable. Everything he showed us was good. He showed us the rooms, which would be exactly what I would be looking for. They had all the amenities and everything. They said if I needed nursing care or something like that, all I have to do is ask and that's great. I have to go to dialysis three times a week, and there is transportation to take me, and that's a big thing. The gentleman did offer us a box of snacks if we wanted to take any. They have a stream in the back and you can sit on the porch where they have rocking chairs sitting out looking over the land. I only met the man that gave us the tour and he was excellent. He told us everything that needed to be told.

The one bedroom at Holiday Village Gate of Farmington had a full-size kitchen and hookups for washers and dryers in each apartment so you could have them if you wanted to. They had a room where model trains were set up that you could look at (my husband likes trains) and then they had an art room where they had pictures (somebody painted them) and they had those hanging up in a room that you can look at. They had a cafeteria, but it was just wherever they were serving. They provide three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and snacks. If you didn't like it, then you'd have to cook in your room or go out. It wasn't a variety of food. The staff that assisted me was very nervous. I don't know why, but he was very on edge. Maybe he didn't know the place that well, because he was just temporary. There were no handrails in the hallway, which I think is important for elderly people. They had a van that would take you to doctor's appointments or shopping.

We chose Holiday Village Gate of Farmington for my sister because the price was just right and we were happy with how clean and presentable the facility was. The people are very friendly, very receptive, and very helpful. The facility is very clean, very bright, and very cheery. They have a walking path to take your dog for a walk and pretty gardens. It's very well maintained.

I toured the Holiday Village Gate of Farmington. They were super clean and super friendly. It seemed like they had a lot of activities. If my mother was in a better place in her mindset, I think it would have been a great place for her. They had the thing called the Man Cave where the guys can go and watch games. They had a private area where people could have family gatherings and you could rent out the space. Their rooms went anywhere from a studio to a two-bedroom. Some of them had washer-dryer hookups, but they were all unfurnished. Three meals were included in the cost. They had a rec room and a couple of other rooms that you could use or rent out. The staff members were super helpful, super caring, super professional, and very informative.

Village Gate of Farmington was an immediate turnoff because they were so pushy. I felt like it was a super sales pitch, like "You sign today and only today, this is your price, but if you don't call us back by 11:00 p.m. tonight, then your price is going to go up." I'm not interested. You could feel the pressure from their boss. I don't need four phone calls a day. I don't need text messages. You don't need to control my day or my thoughts. It was nice and clean. I was OK with it until I was leaving and there was a community member who had come out and he wanted to call a family member and the person who was touring me very rudely told him to go back to his room because they were under lockdown because of COVID and just said, "Hey, you need to go back to your room. I don't know why you're out. You need to go back to your room now." She talked to him like a child or like an inmate and this is a grown man. He's an adult and you need to treat him like that. I just didn't like the way that she treated him. The facility itself was OK, but I wasn't OK with that place at all. The room was very small. It was 440 square feet and it was just a studio. It was smaller than my college dorm room. I don't know why they would have thought to show me that knowing that I was putting two people into it. They had amenities. Overall, given the customer service and my entire experience, I would give them a 1. I walked away and I didn't even answer phone calls after that. The staff during the tour was the reason I didn't go back. The facility seemed pretty older, rundown, and not cared for.

Nicole, Thank you for sharing your concerns. It’s unfortunate your brief experience with us did not reflect our commitment to being a great place to work and to live. If you'd like to talk more, please feel free to email us.

I am/was a resident of this facility

We're in the Village Gate of Farmington. It's an independent living and we've been here about 5 months now. For the most part, it's been good. Maintenance has been good, if there's anything wrong, they're there to fix it. Even if you need a little help with something extra, they're there to help you. The food has been kind of iffy. They have a new chef and it seems to be getting better. The food wasn't very good when my partner and I first got here. They're having a lot of trouble with accounting. We're still not sure what we owe at this point. They claim it takes 3 or 4 weeks for something to get to them. I don't understand that because my daughter mailed me something and it's here in 3 days from Pennsylvania. We mailed a check to them and they claim they don't have it for a month or so. I can't understand that. They don't seem to know where it went and that's the biggest problem I have with them. I don't know, from one month to the next, what to expect. They were telling us we hadn't paid anything when we had, and it was very nerve-wracking Other than that, it's not the best place and it's not the worst place. Of course, they just changed companies too at just about the same time we moved in, so a lot has to be done to bring it up to the standards of the new company. Housekeeping isn't the greatest. They come in and they'll sweep and they'll wipe down the bathroom sink in the toilet and that's about it. Sometimes they'll leave and there are still pieces of paper on the floor. It's like they do just a halfway job and one of the things that I was hoping for was housekeeping. I think that it's important for people to know about the accounting part. You better keep an eye on what's going on with your money. We came here mainly for housekeeping and food, and we're not having a good experience. We're not having good food and good housekeeping. Until this new chef came, we were having a very bad experience with food. Some things we just can't even eat. It's getting better with the new chef, but it's not up to my standards. I can do a better job cooking. The food has not been up to par. The staff has been very nice though. They tried to be helpful, most of them, anyway. They're very polite and friendly. When they see me in the hallway and I'm struggling with something, they'll come over and help me. That kind of thing. Maintenance has been very good too. They've been right on the ball there. The facility is very nice, but there's a lot of work that needs to be done that I guess the previous company hadn't taken care of. They've got to replace all the carpeting and stuff like that. They've got to do some painting and packing up but overall, it's so nice and it looks good. It's just that there are things that still have to be done and we know about the things that have to be done. They promised they're going to do them, now that it's a new company here. The activities are pretty good. We had a great time last night. We went to see the lights up in Springfield or somewhere in Forest Park and then went to dinner at Applebee's. We had a good time. Most of the activities here have been pretty good. The value is not as high as some of the places I've looked into, but I would have preferred to be happier here. The price here is not as high as a lot of places I've looked at and that's a plus, but at the same time, the value we're getting for that money isn't as good as I would have liked.

Village Gate of Farmington was a nice facility. Our experience was very good. The programs sound reasonable, but the cost was steep. The staff that we met was very personable and very considerate, knowledgeable of the area, and we discussed it at length. The facilities were very nice, well kept, and looked well managed to me.

I did an in-person tour of Village Gate of Farmington. The facility was very nice. I was looking for a place that also had an additional storage, in which they had. It was a nice layout, too. Overall, I was very, very impressed with it. It was just a little bit too high for my budget. The apartments were nice and adequate. I saw the studios and they showed me some activities. The location was very easily accessible. The property was nice, and the people were very nice.

The staff at Village Gate of Farmington were very friendly, very accommodating, and courteous. I loved their staff. The room was OK. It needed some updating, but it was clean. They had bible study, and they had some residents gathering in the lobby. The lobby was huge. It was a very friendly place. I would recommend them if you need some friends. They showed me the chapel. The staff gave me time to choose. They offer the residents three meals a day.

My dad is in the Village Gate of Farmington. They've been very receptive to everything that I've brought to their attention. The one complaint my dad has is that his meals are coming to him cold. They're providing his meals, doing his linen laundry, and they're cleaning his room. His room is quite comfortable, he's very happy with his room, and they have nice grounds for him to walk. He goes outside and he walks, and they have tried to pair him up with people with common interests, so they've paired him up with people from the same point of the country that he comes from. They try, but he's not just a very active person in that way.

Village Gate of Farmington was a good and friendly place. They gave a little sample of their food, and it was good. The price was reasonable, but it's a good ways away from me. They were somewhat less concerned about COVID than the other place I visited, but they were certainly fully aware of COVID and taking precautions.

Village Gate of Farmington was lovely but didn't fit my father because he has Alzheimer's. Other than that, it's very nice and lively. The staff who gave me the tour was lovely, informative, wonderful, and caring. I liked her very much. The rooms were beautiful and lovely. They were clean, adequate, and a good size. People there seemed very happy and engaged. The price wasn't astronomical and a fair value for what it is. I would definitely recommend this place.

My mother's apartment at Village Gate of Farmington is big and beautiful. We just love it. Everybody is just nice and wonderful. My mom has a lovely full kitchen, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, lots of closet space, a storage unit in the basement, a huge bedroom, and a huge living room. She has a washer and dryer right her apartment. The first day she was there I asked her how her day was, and she told me, "It was wonderful, it is like heaven, I just love it." You can't get better than that.

Village Gate of Farmington was a lovely setting with well-kept grounds. The faculty seemed very friendly and personable. We liked it. From what we could see of the interaction among the residents in the dining room, it seemed very bright and cheerful. The rooms were larger than a lot of the facilities we looked at. It was light and bright. It had a laundry facility in the apartment, which was very important to us. We liked the apartments very much.

I liked everything about Village Gate, but it was too large and sprawling for my wife. The main thing was the whole access going into the building turned us off. You have to walk around the side to a ramp and then go all the way back to the front door. They showed us a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom apartment. The 2-bedroom was very nice with a fairly large living room, an eating area, a full kitchen, two big bedrooms, two big bathrooms, and a laundry utility closet. They have an area for painting, a music room, an exercise room, a big theater, and a computer lab. We also had an excellent meal there.

I think Village Gate is excellent for the folks who lived there. The service that you get in the dining room is excellent, and it doesn't look like a cafeteria or anything at all. It looks like a real fancy dining room or a nice restaurant. And the caregivers seem to be very involved in the people who are there. I have only seen a studio apartment, and it was OK for one person.

The facility is very beautiful. People living here get a cute little living area, a bedroom area, a galley style kitchen and a bathroom. There is plenty of storage and the rooms are set up well to display pictures and memorabilia that would be important to these people. It had great food, and the dining staff was very nice. They were very respectful to the residents and made them feel at home. They came in and gave medication, and other things, and were very polite and knew each resident well. The woman I went to see, they knew the names of the family members on the wall and were very sweet to her. It is a very secure place, with a sign in at the door, and people all around, it is not hard to find staff members when you need them. There is a cute hair dresser inside, that the woman I would see loved! She was so sweet and provided them with all the thrills of a salon. The porch out front for residents to sit on was also very cute, and a great idea to get residents some fresh air.
