We found a place for my father, and we're going with Park Regency Assisted Living and Memory Care, Thornton. It's only for respite care for 14 days. We went with them because they have the availability, and the price is good. And most importantly, they have very kind and caring staff. The rooms have all the grab bars and safety for elderly ones for both assisted living and memory care. It's very clean and kept up very well. Everything looked new to me, and they have enough rooms. They're spacious. The rooms have microwaves and small refrigerators. They're furnished with comfortable chairs, beds, TVs, nightstands, and lamps. It's very aesthetically pleasing and clean. When I walked in one time, a lady was coming out and she asked me, 'Have you ever been here before?' And I said, 'Yes, actually I have.' And she said, 'Okay. I work in the kitchen, nice to meet you.' She said it was nice to meet my dad. So it doesn't matter who you speak with, everybody is just very welcoming, kind, and caring.

Park Regency Assisted Living and Memory Care Thornton was too far and I wasn't really impressed with the way the facility flowed. I didn't think they had enough help with helping my mother get around. When I was there, the people that I saw were more independent than my mother, and they did not have anybody around them helping them. She's 95 and she needs to have help with bathing and with changing her diaper and things like that. They said they didn't have the next level after that. The staff was friendly. They sat down and met with my daughter and I. They went over everything with us and they pretty much said they couldn't do that much for my mother. I thought the halls were narrow and not enough windows. They were remodeling, so the colors that they were putting in were nice.

I toured Park Regency Assisted Living and Memory Care, Thornton. I thought they were good at adapting to change because I showed up and they weren't expecting us. So they had somebody who was experienced with giving tours but wasn't expecting it, but she took time out and gave us the tour. I noticed that the residents seemed content. I spoke with a couple and that's a good indication. And I was watching the interaction between the staff and the residents, and I was pleased that it was a very friendly tone. There were only two that I noted on that Sunday, but it was a very friendly tone. I think that Park Regency has all the amenities that one would need, specifically a pedicure, hair salon, and a monthly podiatrist. I took schedules of their meals to know what the meals were like and also the activities and was very pleased to see a variety of activities and then the room to perform those activities. It was generally clean. The carpeting was worn and it was explained that they are expanding their memory care from 10 to 32 beds and during the construction phase they are delaying replacing the carpeting, which made sense. So even though the carpet was worn, it was clean. The kitchen was exceptionally clean from what we could see. We saw a worker in the back. It was not during meal time, but he moved a cart on wheels, swept under it, and replaced the cart. We were looking for signs of cleanliness, especially the kitchen, and we're very pleased with that. The lady who gave us the tour was very warm, very knowledgeable, and very honest. And to me, that is integrity. And so I enjoyed the tour. The rooms I thought, were a little small, but it was my first visit and I don't know what room sizes are like, so it was okay. I think they have everything one would need. I also chose them because they are faith-based and not for profit. And I wanted a comparison between a not-for-profit and a for-profit. So that's why they were first on my list to visit.

I like Park Regency Assisted Living and Memory Care. Shannon, who gave us the tour, I thought she very personable. She talked to us for a while. We went into her office and then after we did that, she took us on tour, and we toured the facility. She even knew at that point that we probably weren't eligible, but she gave us a tour anyway, and I thought that was nice of her to take her time to do that. We met some of the residents that were there and chit-chatted with them for a second or two. They kind of gave us the input of how they felt about being there, and they seemed very satisfied. It was a very welcoming place to go to. I thought that if I needed to put my husband in a facility, I would certainly put that one as one of the double stars. However, it was probably private pay more than anything, but the brochure she gave me include stuff about VA aid and attendance and funding. The brochure has a lot of stuff about long-term care and Medicaid. It talked about the monthly rate for him, and I said, 'What about if I was going to be residing with him?' Then she gave me this monthly rate chart and talked about that, so it was very thorough. The facility was very new. One thing I always notice when I go to a nursing home is whether it has that nursing home stench, but it doesn't have that. It's clean-smelling. We were there during lunch hour. I saw the area where they served the food, I saw the servers, and I saw the people engaging in their meal, and they all looked very satisfied. The kitchen looked nice.

We're moving our mother to Park Regency Thornton assisted living. The apartment is feasible, it's nice, it has a kitchenette, and a bedroom area. The community itself has what she needs to stimulate her memory, they have activities, and they have a garden area. It's very nice. The staff is wonderful, they work with you, and everything that you need they provide. Their dining area is set up cafeteria style. It's large and they offer a variety of food options. They offer $5 meals for the family if they come in to have dinner with her, and they offer catering for the family if you want to have a gathering. They have a lot to offer, and the place is beautiful.

My mom with dementia lived here almost 3 years and we were very happy until new management came in. There has been a mass exodus of staff since the new director took over. When needing to speak with her about important issues that came up for our mom she was very rude and condescending. Communication with us on these issues was appalling. Their “faith based” approach is now non existent. We ended up moving our mom which was definitely not a good transition for someone with dementia. The staff that is left are very unhappy and are not shy about sharing why with residents and families. Check the State of Colorado records for imposed fines and breaches of medical care at this facility. If there was a choice for zero stars that is what we would choose.

Rooms are actually really nice but if you have money. The rooms are pricey as it is and for the care to be pretty horrible its not worth it. Lets not get started with staff. Some actually do there jobs while the rest (most of them) will sit and be on there phones all along residents are paging for assistance. You may run into a staff member that is actually nice once in a while, but the good ones the main ones that leave sooner. Management doesn't work hard enough to keep the hard working staff members instead they rather have the lazy staff that always call in. Food wise it's getting better slightly but the servers are sometimes rude. Server seem to never last there always short. There has been many time where residents walkout because of how long it take them to get there food. Your paying money for 3 meals a day so it better be worth it. Activities are fine but they could do better. They have thing to keep them busy on the weekdays sometimes but no encouragement for them to actually participate. And weekends are dead not much happens. They lack in trips. They need more to look forward to not just TV in there rooms. They should have more things that will encourage family to visit there loved ones. They need more activities. The cleanness of the place is fair.

The residents and the people at Park Regency Thornton seemed to like the community, so we were really happy with them. They said there was no time that we couldn’t visit our loved one if they were there. The dining hall was very nicely laid out. The rooms were very nice and open. There was no smell in there. The cleanliness of the place was excellent. It seemed to be very well kept. They had a nice little garden area for the residents. It was in a nice little neighborhood where you can take a nice walk with your loved one if you wanted to.

New nurse is great and the activities are amazing for the residents. Everything went smooth with the admission and the office teams are very friendly. Would recommend to other families and friends looking for reasonably priced and wonderful care.

Park Regency Thornton was a nice place, the staff seemed to be fine, and the residents seemed to enjoy themselves. The cafeteria for the residents seemed to be very nice, and the rooms looked very accommodating. The place seemed to be appropriate for my mom, and we appreciated it.

Level of care Good, but Under staffed. Issues and concerns not handled in an appropriate manner. Facility is new but has maintenance problems which have not been addressed fully. The nursing staff is good but way under staffed. Employee turn over is high, Park Regency Thornton can't seem to hold on to their employees. I don't know the cause behind that, could be management or poor salary. I just visited their web site and saw that they don't have an administering nurse on duty. I don't have relatives living there but I do have friends and neighbors that do. I would love to have my elderly in-laws live there because it's so close to home, but I don't think Park Regency Thornton is ready to care for them as needed.

I visited Park Regency's memory care. What discouraged me from their location was that people can use wheelchairs or electric wheelchairs, but they have to be able to get up out of bed by themselves and walk across the room. They don't do any two-handed lifting in this facility at all, so if you’re in a situation where you need that kind of help, they’re not the facility to go to. The community was very clean, new, and very nice. To me, they specialize more in assisted living with meals. This is the place we really wanted to put my loved one into because of the location, and it is a new facility, but it doesn’t meet with what we needed for her care. The staff was very sweet and very nice. I liked them. The facility was really, really nice. They had a very large, clean dining area with reasonable serving hours.

Park Regency offers a secure, clean, happy environment. They consider everyone family, and really care for the people who live there. Have daily activities that the residents can participate in if they want. Provide 3 meals a day, all hot and delicious. Take the time to discuss any issues with family members, I know if something is not working right that I can just stop in and/or call and get some answers, and things are resolved immediately.

Park Regency’s pricing was good. It is located in an area close to family and our doctors that he is already used to go into. They have a lot of activities during the day to keep them occupied. They do housekeeping, too.

My sister is at Park Regency right now. The facility itself is exceptional. I think the food is very good. They have many activities, from painting to bracelet making to flower pots and planting herbs. They have TV nights, popcorn, and parties. Their activity director is exceptional. They even opened a beauty salon in there. They also have a little general store where the residents can purchase supplies. However, I am having issues right now because, apparently, they say that she has put her hands on three residents, trying to help them. She was a Denver sheriff for 32 years and she tries to be helpful, but she has dementia now, so when you tell her she cannot touch anybody, she doesn't remember it. So they tell me that they are not sure if she can stay there. I am very clear with the administrator and the marketing director, as well as the nursing, in explaining to them her situation. They assure me that they are the right facility, and even though they cost significantly more than some of the others, I placed her there because I want what is best for her. I am trying to make her comfortable for as long as I can and for as long as she can remember. I tell them if there is a problem with the residents or if my sister is doing that, it will be helpful if one of them assists her at breakfast, lunch, or dinner and just walks her to the elevator so she doesn’t come into contact with anybody. I am supposed to meet with them tomorrow to find out what their decision is. I am just concerned about why they can't handle something that seems to be minor. It seems like an easy solution to separate her from the person she has a problem with. I think the staff should perhaps be more in touch with some of the residents' needs. I think if they notice that there is a pattern of behavior, a staff member can come in and refocus them on something else.
