They have very rude staffing on nursing side I’ve seen the CNA’s walking around texting while call lights are going off management cursing at staff members in a aggressive unprofessional and undiscreet manner the food was not good at all my mother did not enjoy her “short” stay here I would not suggest anyone to use this nursing home

while visiting my uncle and joining him for meals over a month's worth of time I noticed the dinning room had 10 lights burned out and cobwebs hanging from them. the adjoining patio had Christmas decorations, stored in rubber maid boxes stacked 6 high on it, plus 7 ft christmas trees covered in garbage bags standing and blowing over in the wind...this is safe? It's March get rid of the Christmas decorations! The buses are filthy, insides full of trash, and seem never to be cleaned.

Mom was in University Park for six weeks back in March and April for rehab, and they almost killed her there. I do not recommend University Park in Pueblo Colorado for anything. They let her sit in the wheelchair all day long and they didn’t give her any exercise except for the PT. I walked in her room on the weekend and found trash in the bed. The bed is unkept, and she is dressed, but she is in wheelchair with food between her feet. If I hadn’t rescued my mother to that place, she would have died right then and there but I kept her alive by sending her to the hospital and she passed at the end of August. I do know one nurse got reprimanded, and two went out the door for their treatment of mom. They were understaffed at the time and because of the situation, I didn’t talk to them for four months until August, so they never billed Medicare for mom’s stay, and they were hitting me with the $1800 bill after I told them we already made our deductible for Medicare. They got a $10000 payout, and they’re still billing for mom’s care. They looked the prettiest, they had a nice facility, and they looked appropriately staffed. It was a beautiful room, but they just let her slumped over in a room. The food was acceptable, and there was enough there; that’s the only good thing I can say. I remember in the six weeks there, she only participated in one bingo activity. Their management stinks. I am absolutely furious at their poor care.

This facility is located on small grounds with not much room for the patients to be outside. There is a tiny garden center located in the back where patients and family can sit outside and visit. However, if there are more than eight people out there you feel as if you are on top of each other. The staff is friendly and nice, they always inform my family when my grandmother is having problems, but they have called us a couple times and nothing has been wrong. I appreciate the concern they have for the patients and the communication they keep with the family. The room she was orignally in very nice, with its own sitting room and enough space to be comfotable. Now they have moved her into a room that she shares with another person. There is no room to visit and you must stand in order to spend time with her. It seems like she is well cared for but the space could be bigger. They do provide some arts and crafts but the room is very small compared to how many patients they provide for. In order to get outside you must go through the arts and crafts room which again makes it a little tight with a wheelchair and several people.
