My wife is in Colorow Care Center. My wife has Alzheimer's, and she is here in a skilled nursing facility. They are too expensive for me. Before that, she was in a memory care unit and assisted living facility, which did not have skilled nursing, and she fell four times and ended up in a hospital. We had to get her out of there and put her in this skilled nursing facility. All I can say is my wife is getting outstanding care. The nurses in the memory care unit really know what they are doing. I think they are topnotch. It's a skilled nursing facility, she's in a memory care unit, and all locked-up. They have four wings of the building and one wing is memory care, which is a closed area. That one-fourth is memory care.

FIRST OFF, THE FACILITY SMELLED VERY BAD. THERE WAS AN AREA OF THE RESIDENT HALL THAT THEY COULDNT UTILIZE DUE TO A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT ON THE CARPET THAT REEKED. IT WAS DIRTY. THE STAFF IS INCOMPETENT, THE SOCIAL WORKER IS A JOKE, I'M NOT SURE SHE HAS A FORMAL EDUCATION. MY LOVED ONE HAD DEMENTIA PRETTY BADLY AND THEY COULDNT HANDLE THEIR NEEDS AT ALL. THEY STAFF ONE NURSE AND TWO CNA'S FOR A VERY LARGE POPULATION OF MIXED ILLNESSES. IT WAS LOUD, CHAOTIC AND UNEVENTFUL BESIDES RESIDENT DISTURBANCES. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SENDING A LOVED ONE HERE, AS THEY WERE CONSTANTLY CALLING ME AND STRESSING ME OUT BECAUSE THEY DIDNT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE MY LOVED ONE'S ILLNESS OF DEMENTIA- WHICH IS WHAT THEY CLAIM TO CARE FOR. THEY MANAGED TO STRAND MY LOVED ONE AT A MENTAL HOSPITAL, WHICH WAS HEARTBREAKING AND VERY STRESSFUL ON ALL INVOLVED. THEY DO NOT CARE.

My mother is in Colorow Care Center. The staff is fine. We have had a relationship with this care center for 30 years. It is a small care center in my hometown. It is probably one of the best ones in the valley. Everything is fine and acceptable.

My mother was a rehab patient at this facility during the summer months of 2014. They were very disorganized from day one. The rehab staff are not permanent employees, they are travelers. My mom got very little rehab time due to the staff trying to muddle through an unknown medical record system, yet my mom's insurance was billed for the maximum number of hours allowed per week. Doctor's orders were not followed promptly due to failure in their communication system. "Social workers" were actually CNAs, CNAs were young and inexperienced or creepy and sloppy, RNs seemed unaware of what was going on around them, they were so focused on inputting information in to computers. The food was school cafeteria quality. Administration made big promises and did not follow through. My mom fell in her room several times while she was there due to slow call light response. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

In the Summer of 2005 my Great-Grandmother moved from her previous assisted living facility to Colorow care center in Montrose, Co. From the outside, and even the inside, it seemed to be a wonderful place to trust to care for my aging family member. Much to my surprise, it was not. I base my opinion on many things. First, everytime me and my family would so to visit my Grandmother, her room smelled of urine. The first time we noticed it, we didn't think much of it since she and her roomate both wore diapers but as we visted more often we noticed that the staff was very reluctant on changing her diaper, and her roomates. One time we found my grandmother lying in a bed soaked by her own unrine. When my Father brought it the attention of the staff, they took a very long time to come and take care of it. I noticed my Great-Grandmother's spirit fade, after moving into Colorow care center she slowly lost her vest for life, she stopped smiling and eventually rarely spoke. I know that some of these come with age but, she previously lived in a wonderful assisted living community where the people who ran the facility were exteremly friendly, took excellent care of those who lived there, and treated everyone who came to visit as if they were part of their own family. At Colorow the staff rarely spoke to any vistors, they rarely tried to engage in a conversation with the people who lived there and I rarely saw them try to make them smile. I am very sad to say my Grandmother died there, I would advise anyone considering placing their loved-ones in the care of Colorow care center, to find another assister living facility if they want them to be properly cared for.
