I visited this facility

We toured Brookdale Greeley. The only reason we didn't suggest it to my mother is because it was more expensive. We ate a meal there, and it was very good. The taste was very good. The salad was kind of different than I had before, but it was very good. The facility was very clean and very modern. It's excellent. There are a lot of different ways. The dining area was very nice. The rooms were great. You could get a studio or a one-bedroom. They were all very spacious. The staff was very helpful.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Greeley was very nice. Out of the four places, this probably would have been the one I would have liked for my mother to be at. Their rooms were decently sized. They had a nice closet. The staff answered all the questions that I had. She was just a nice person. I looked at the menu, and it was nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Brookdale Greeley. They have a personable staff. They also have the Medicaid spend-down policy, so you do eventually get covered. She has a room with 2 separate living spaces, a bathroom, and a kitchen nook. And she got to pick between whether it faces inward towards a courtyard or towards an open space that looks more like a backyard. It is an older building, but they seem to be really on top of maintenance. They're willing to help with any of the needs of the residents like pictures and TVs hung. They've always been very accessible, from what I can tell. They have restaurant-style dining, and she said the food has been good so far. They do physical activities, they do prayer groups and field trips. They just went to the Denver Botanic Gardens recently.

I visited this facility

What I liked about Brookdale Greeley is that it was very bright, and there were lots of windows. My mother suffers from depression, so that was important to me to have something bright and cheerful. It was very clean. Even though it's not new, it looked new inside, and it had been very well kept. Everyone was very friendly. They shared their philosophy with me, which helped me understand how my mother would be treated there. I just had a wonderful experience. They have activities. They shared a list of activities. They showed me how the residents get the sheet that shows them. They asked me what my mother liked to do, and when they met with her today, they brought some of those things up. It was very personable.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Brookdale Greeley was very good. The facility is beautiful, very homey, and intimate. It's an intimate environment yet spacious. The dining hall is lovely. It just feels like you come out of your room, and you meet with other members of the community, and it feels almost like you're going out to eat, which my father really appreciates. It gives him that feeling like he still has some connections with people and connections with just doing something other than staying in his room. It's lovely with very beautiful warm colors and lots of windows. Spring should be beautiful. They have lots of trees, and they have a floral box in the courtyard, which is lovely, and the residents get to participate in that. I've eaten twice now with my father, and he loves the food. We all appreciate the low-salt diet that they encourage because he has congestive heart failure, so he has to have low or no salt, and they definitely accommodate that. The meals are lovely. They're prepared lovely. I thought it was very good, and with every meal, he has never once complained. There's a TV room at this point, they do seasonal activities where they go places, like to museums or going to excursions, so there's more of that. What I do see is a lot of card-playing. There's one room in particular that a lot of residents seem to use where they play cards and do their crossword puzzles. I'm sure there's more, but that's what I've observed. Their team is exceptional. They really do go above and beyond to help the residents there. For example, I ordered a headboard for my father and pieces of the headboard were missing, and their maintenance man, his name's Scott, he went out of his way to try to figure out how to put it together or get the help that was needed. Additionally, Dad really likes normalcy and routine, and part of that routine included a weather station in his home, and the maintenance man helped set that up for my dad at Brookdale Greeley, and so they're very accommodating and quick to respond. Nurses, great response! My father needs medication management and some changes recently occurred, and they are on top of it. Today, there was a change that occurred, and the nurse contacted me immediately, so it's really impressive how they are there for their residents and very concerned about their well-being, and you get that message from Brookdale Greeley. I feel like Brookdale Greeley is still developing with the activities. As we've arrived, they are working on getting a room created for working out and they do those types of things, but they're going to have like an actual place. With this rough winter, it would be nice. They are working on trying to get a stationary bike, and it would also be nice if they could get a treadmill for the residents there to sign up. I think that would benefit their facility, and they are in the process of doing that. But as it stands, I would give that particular portion a 3. I would give the value for money a 5 because of everything. They're watched, and they're taken care of. It gives me such peace of mind. It's peace of mind having my dad watched, on his medication, the bed checks, the food, assuring that he's getting walks and a little exercise. Those types of things are really good. In comparison to some of the other facilities that we interviewed, I appreciated the intimacy. It's not so big and I think that can be more comfortable especially when you're just leaving your home, at least it was for our family. They have the number of residents that it's manageable and it's comfortable.

My mother moved to Brookdale Greeley. We chose it because the staff is extremely nice and helpful. I have not tried it but she is very happy with the food. The facility is nice. It's clean, bright, and fresh. It's assisted living and they do a very good job at trying to make it welcoming. So far, her health hasn't allowed her to do a lot of things, but they do take good care of her. If she can't get with her walker down to the card games and stuff, they will take her. They are putting in a new fitness center, which I think will be helpful. She's very happy with the exercise classes and the different things that they have been doing.

I visited this facility

We toured Brookdale Greeley and that was lovely, beautiful, but it's not appropriate for what we need. We had lunch there, and it was delicious. They've got a number of activities. They have some outside excursions where maybe they go to a baseball game, and they have a lot of things that are inside. They have a beautiful courtyard. They have a salon. The location is close to my house, so that was the main draw for me. It's conveniently located.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Greeley as very nice and would have been perfect for my dad, if he wanted to go. I like the fact that there were no stairs, so that was a good place. My dad is mostly independent, but they assist with bathing (if you need it) and medications. The staff was very pleasing to talk with and informative. The rooms were very clean and very accessible for someone who can't walk that good. The place was very clean. It just looked like a simple place to live and not have to worry about much. If I was going to need a place to live for myself, I would probably have chosen that place. The staff I talked to was Logan. He was very concerned with how my dad was doing and everything. I think he did a great job on trying to get everything that my dad would need. Everything looked good. The paint was in good shape, and it looked newer than most.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was at Brookdale Greeley for several years and she loved it. It was not a huge facility. The food was wonderful and the staff was wonderful too. We've had a wonderful experience here. I used to go and have a meal with her, and sometimes there would be three or four of us that would go. There was a separate little dining room and we could have lunch together or dinner or whatever. She had a two-bedroom with a little kitchenette. The living room area was pretty tight because that portion of it was also a kitchenette, but she had a nice big bathroom, lots of storage space, very large closets that accommodated other things besides just her clothes.

I visited this facility

We absolutely loved Brookdale Greeley. They had more like efficiency rooms with a kitchenette where Mom could actually get her own space, and she could bring in her own things and stuff like that. It just felt more homey. The rooms were clean and spacious, and I thought the facilities were very well-maintained. They're very friendly and they stayed in touch for the most part. We saw a group of ladies playing cards and they listed off some other things, too, like they have a garden area for people, they do bingo, and definitely a lot of activities that she could participate in if she wished. We also saw their sunroom, their garden area, the different spots throughout the facility where you could just sit and hang out, and their beauty salon. They do have transportation to and from doctors, but they actually have a doctor on-site, and then they have a care team 24 hours a day. So, that was good.

My mother was a resident of Brookdale Greeley. It is older, but it's nice and homey. Their food is OK, but it's not great. They have games, cards, and puzzles. There are not a whole lot of other things, but they do have a van that takes them to doctors' appointments and on excursions.

It is very nice. We had a very nice tour, and the people that went with us explained everything. They were very courteous, and I have no complaints with that visit. It is very small place. It is all on one level, and they don't have memory care there. For the size of the place, I thought it is very nice.

We visited here. The staff seemed OK, but I wasn't overly impressed with what they have. The rooms were small. After we looked at it once, we weren't interested in it anymore. When we were there, the lady that takes care of it wasn't there. We talked to another lady that actually was really nice. She took us and showed us around. I thought for what you got, it was a high price. They were among the higher ones we looked at.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My interaction has been good. The community seems to be OK, I think they keep my in-laws safe, and they feed them good food three times a day. They offer a lot of activities. They have a 1-bedroom apartment; it’s pretty small around 400sq.ft, but it’s adequate for what they need. In fact they’re getting ready to move in to the larger 1-bedroom when they are available. The grounds are nice and nicely maintained with tall grass, and around the outside of the building there’s a big courtyard in the center of the building. The building is actually just a big square. The courtyard is nicely landscaped, and they got a lot of trees and stuff, but the parking could be better. It’s not the best parking situation for visitors, but it’s OK. They have exercise classes, Wii bowling, bingo, church services on the weekend, and I think once or twice during the week. They have other reading times and other games, and I think they have been singing Christmas carols this month.

It is a sister facility of where we were, and it also does take Medicaid. They have been wonderful; everybody is just super friendly, super helpful. It is a bit smaller and they like to cater to who's there, so they ask the residents what they want to do. It seems they are a little more flexible in their activities. They are friendly and accommodating to each person and resident that is moving in. They have been pretty great.

I like it because it's clean, well equipped, has good staff, lots of activities, good organization, and good management. Everything was wonderful there. Their rooms have mini kitchens with a microwave and a mini fridge, but this would not be a good facility for my father because they don’t have a memory care facility, and he needs more care.

My brother is in Sterling House. We chose it because it is affordable, nice, and very good. It is also in a good location. It has a barber shop, and the barber comes every Wednesday. They clean the rooms once a week and do the laundry. I just like everything about it. My brother has a hard time talking, so he does not participate in the activities, and he doesn't go around people too much. However, I don't know why the meal we had there was bad because their meals are very good.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about Sterling House of Greeley. We are very pleased to hear that your brother resides with us and that you like just about everything. We apologize for disappointing both of you with an unsatisfactory meal and will certainly discuss this with our dining services team.
