We toured Brookdale Fort Collins. Michelle was extremely professional and very informative. The place was nice, clean, and very well laid out. There's quite a bit of room for different activities for the people staying there. We're very favorably impressed with the entire organization and how they were set up. They have kind of a whole menu of different care options that they can provide. We didn't try the food. We looked at the menu though, and the menu seemed to have a lot of choices. They seemed to be addressing what the folks there in the community would probably have. They give them several choices and are more designed for the people there and not just an institutional type menu. However, the rooms seemed to be fairly small for the people staying there. That was the only negative I could think of.

My parents will be moving into Brookdale Fort Collins Assisted Living. They're going to assess them to determine if they're going to go into assisted living or the bridges program. We had planned on putting them into the memory care system, but after they read my dad's assessment, they figured they probably could go either into assisted living or the bridges, which is halfway between. We saw both the dining room in the assisted living, and we liked the fact that they had the main meal and they're able to order a la carte in case they don't like what they were serving. The staff goes around and takes their order, and then they go back to the kitchen and bring out their food. It's more like a restaurant-type situation, which I know my parents will like. What we saw looked very appetizing. We liked the fact that, in either the assisted living and/or the bridge program, they have a kitchen-type area where they have a little refrigerator and microwave. They can go down to the dining hall and have breakfast down there, or they can stay in their room and have coffee and cereal however they want to do it. They encourage them to go down and have breakfast with everyone. It was just clean, very presentable, and it wasn't crowded. My parents would be able to get around with their walkers. It just looks like a nice restaurant. They have walking clubs, drawing art programs, and exercise programs. They have had something almost every 2 hours in both memory care and assisted living. Each program had an activities director, so it wasn't a dual thing, they each had a program director. We went in there at 2:00 in the afternoon, so they were all done eating. But the refreshment bar looked nice and very appetizing. Those rooms that we got to see, were in the process of replacing the carpet, painting the walls, and redoing the trim. We've got to see the rooms that people were moving out of. Whichever facility they had to go into, the assisted living or bridge program, it was going to be nice rooms.

The tour at Brookdale Fort Collins was very nice. They took us all around the building and showed us everything. The room is quite a nice size, and the location is excellent. They have lots of trips that they have on the van, they have flower gardens, and they have gourmet food. They are just very, very helpful, and I really like the place. They have a puzzle room, clubs, and exercise, and the woman who does the exercise is like an exercise expert. They have a whole calendar of activities, bingo, puzzles, walks, and that kind of thing.

I went to Brookdale Fort Collins, but I didn't have an appointment. They were very considerate and showed me around as they could. It was a nice, clean, place. Everybody seemed friendly. I saw everybody sitting at the dining room table after dinner, there was a guy singing, and it seemed like a nice place. The dining area was clean, big, roomy, and everybody looked pretty happy.

My mother moved into Brookdale Fort Collins since a couple of months ago, and so far our experience has been really good. Their staff has been really friendly and helpful and her accommodations are just fine. Mom had a nice room, and their dining area is A-OK and could accommodate quite a few people. I haven't tried their food but she seems to like it just fine. I think the staff really takes care of the residents and really watches out for them, and they're very caring. It's also in a good location and very accessible. I think their price just like all of these places are too expensive, but I would say it's okay.

Brookdale was probably more upscale than the other place I visited because everything was newer and it was decorated really nicely. They provided more care for the people who needed medication on a daily basis or special medical assistance as well. There were nurses on sight. The staff was really nice, very friendly, and helpful, and took care of the seniors. There was a Catholic service going on or a religious service. I felt like the facility was quite nice, but it had a different atmosphere because you could tell that the elderly were more sick.

My mother is in Brookdale Fort Collins in her own one-bedroom studio apartment that has a mini kitchen, although she cannot use any of that. They have activities every day in all kinds of areas. They are patient, caring, and try to be as involved as they can with her as much as she allows. She is a very private person and does not like a lot of interruption. The only negative about it is the facility changed staff. However, in all fairness, Brookdale has been bringing it up to its standards. So, even though I do not like it, I can understand the need to change the staff fairly regularly. Mother loves the food. They expanded the facility, and it is just excellent and very clean.

The nurses at Brookdale Fort Collins (Formerly Sterling House of Fort Collins) are extremely helpful and caring and they're taking really good care of my mother. They let me know anytime something happens out of the ordinary or regular updates on how well she is doing or how poorly or if she is struggling with something in particular. Everything is kept current and I'm just very happy with what they're doing for us. She has been there since the end of August. She's in a studio apartment. She's got her own little refrigerator and sink area, her own bathroom and shower and closet. We had to bring her own furniture, a bed, a little dining table, and TV. It's nice sized. She has her dog there. She walks with the help of a walker, but it's very limited movement. She has occupational and physical therapy working with her. She has to get up and walk to the dining room and to the activities room. They have movies and get-togethers with the other residents there. She stays active but on a limited basis.

My mother moved in after a rehab stay. They took several days to arrange staff to cover her needs. Because she did not get the services she was supposed to (and charged for) she found a way to manage for herself and returned to independent living (for much less cost). The quality and quantity of food is a joke and they are extremely short-staffed to provide the care that they charge. There was a maintenance issue that took several days to get fixed. It was inexcusable to leave a resident without a working bathroom for days. Very poor value for price.

I saw sample rooms at Brookdale Fort Collins (Formerly Sterling House of Fort Collins) and the one thing that I was a little worried was the pricing structure. It was very nice, and I found the people that worked there to be very nice. I would've had no problem there, but it just didn't measure up with what we ultimately found. They had plenty of activities, and it seemed like a really great place, but they need to reassess their pricing structures. The pricing changes depending on the things that you wouldn't even know are going to happen.

The staff were very helpful and very friendly. We were treated very well. Sterling House of Fort Collins was big and modern, and it had all the facilities you could want. The rooms were small, but adequate. The food was good. They did have a hair salon and an exercise program. They did have a nurse on-call all the time, and that was important. They were everything I expected.

Sterling House is a nice place, and we are very happy with it. We chose it for my mother mostly because it is a new facility and because of the price. The other reason is because it is not an a la carte system where everything that you needed done has an added fee to it every month. This one is more of a capped price. They just opened this part of their unit in December, so they are brand new. It is very clean, and the staff is very nice. Her room is clean and nice. It is a little studio, so she has her own furniture in there. They have a lot of activities throughout the day like bingo and various things. They have an outdoor courtyard that is very nice. It is a nice facility. So far, everybody has been very professional. The place is very clean and very homey. It does not look like an institution or a nursing home. It has nice furniture, nice dining area, and definitely does not look hospital like at all.

I think my sister was happiest at Sterling House. She had more of an apartment feel there. I also think their food was a little better, but, there were times that she had to send them back because they were cold or something. Their staff was very good. My sister would participate in their activities. She participated in their chair exercises everyday and attended their Bible studies. She also got to know her tablemates very well. In other words, she was a lot more social there. However, the bad thing about Sterling House was their transportation. Unlike most other places where they have everyday transportation access, they only have transportation every Tuesdays and Thursdays. So as far as doctor's appointments or anything and if my sister would have them on Monday, other arrangements would have to be made. That was our biggest concern when she was at Sterling House.

Mom Has been at the Sterling house for three years and the staff has always addressed concerns and issues I have concerning her care. They have gone out of their way to keep mom living there as long as possible. The staff works hard and is always accommodating with meals with short notice. Thanks for all your hard work.
