My mother has been in Brookdale Pinehurst Park for four weeks now. The application process was easy. Everyone there, the staff and the caregivers, they're all wonderful to my mother. The food is good, my mother enjoys it. She has a very comfortable room, which is clean. I love it. They also have activities several times a day.

I toured Brookdale Pinehurst Park. They could not give my sister her insulin shot. However, the staff called me like three or four times in an attempt to try to help me find a place for her, so I was very happy with them. They were wonderful staff. They were very, very helpful. They couldn't give us what we needed, but they were excellent. The community seemed nice. It had a little smell to it because they had a flood or something recently. The staff was very nice. The cook came out, talked to us, and was very pleasant. I would recommend it. It was a locked ward, which is not what we are looking for right now. The rooms were clean, but small. Their clients were very low functioning, so there had to be somebody walking around with them and stuff. The activities that I saw were really limited, but I thought the common areas were nice. I think the building was small and old. You can tell it needs some revamping and freshening up, but it was not bad.

Everyone at Brookdale Pinehurst Park was very nice. It's a really nice facility, very clean, and they've got very friendly staff. I would definitely go back to them and place my mother-in-law at that facility. It's very nice. The staff during the tour was very nice and very helpful. The person running the place was very helpful. The rooms were nice, there's enough space, and clean. They had shared rooms and individual rooms. The shared room was nice and doable. They have activities. They have someone in charge of daily and weekly activities. It sounds like there's a lot of good skilled type activities, especially for memory care. They had a really nice outdoor sitting area.

Brookdale had a lockdown facility, but you couldn't go there for a month to try it out, and they only offer a long-term commitment. It was luxurious, and very nice. The staff in each section was very knowledgeable.

We found Brookdale Pinehurst Park for my parent. The price was equivalent to what he had before, and we thought it was fair. The food looked really good. The facility had a hair salon and some activities. My dad is going to move in in a couple of weeks, so we will see how he does there.

Emeritus (Brookdale) is an excellent community. They took mom in immediately. I didn’t have to worry about rushing to sign the paperwork. Everything had been faxed. The people are wonderful. They would talk; they would listen. They’re so patient with them. They were so calming, very caring, very receiving, and very giving. It’s amazing how they work with them. It’s excellent care. Even the food is great. The community is amazing. I have referred some people here. It’s a locked unit, but they have 5 different little communities. They have a beautiful outside walking area. They have the freedom to go outside and come in another door and sit in a little park area. It’s absolutely beautiful. It’s very clean, and that’s what I like. They threw them a big October fest, and they threw them big barbecues for other stuff. They have all these family festivities and activities -- not just for the resident but for the family members, too. I can always go and visit. They know that I come late because of the hours that I work; it’s never a problem.

My sister was able to get a room at Emeritus. I love the grounds and the layout of the place. Lively people; the people that work there are wonderful. The rooms are pretty good. Very clean, huge amount of room. They're comparable to other facilities of that kind. They go out to places as well.

This is a larger facility located near downtown Denver and a pleasant neighborhood park. It is secured with keypad entry, and totally devoted to residents with Alzheimer's and dementia; residents with similar levels of functioning are situated together. The are ten caregivers on duty during the day and five at night, along with two LPNS on each shift. Court at Denver has an extensive wellness center"”complete with an exercise program. Laundry facilities and a beauty salon are also located onsite. There is also a hobby and game room, and activities offered include quilting and cooking clubs"”along with trips to local the local casino, zoo and museums. Care and housing is quite expensive--$5,500 per month, all-inclusive for a studio"”but the facility may be a good fit for the well-to-do who have become accustomed to a certain standard of living. Court at Denver's motto is "Our Family is Committed to Yours ”and mostly, the staff there seems to live up to that promise. However, it's an older facility that could use some updating"”and could definitely use some more staff. -Ruth Hillesheim, a social worker with extensive nursing home experience, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's and dementia care.
