My family's friend is at Brookdale Arvada. Her family decided that that would be the best place for her. They take good care of the people that are there that are in their care. I've noticed that they have people that work there that really care about the patients. It's very clean and taken care of. They take good care of their clientele. They are kind. The appearance is very clean and nice. They keep it very, very well. They have a beautician I know that comes in. They have a patio, and they have different amenities. It's just a nice community. It's very well taken care of. My friend seems to be becoming very active in the place, and she seems to like it. She really enjoys it. I have met the staff and they're very congenial. They're very caring, they really are. The dining area the public sees is very nice. The other one is fine. It's very spacious. With regards to activities, they take them out for lunch, and they've done those kinds of things for them.

That visit to Brookdale Arvada assisted living was a really quick one. They were preparing for some big event the next day, so they were focused on that. To me, it had more of a nursing home feel than a senior living community. It wasn't bad, but it gave me that impression when I walked up to it. I felt like the person who assisted me needed to leave, and so I was kind of rushed out. Even though it seemed like just a quick visit there, they reached out to me and tried to make sure that if I had any more questions, they were all answered.

I toured Brookdale Arvada. It felt very homey. When you walked in there were people dressed and ready to go. They had a little outing, and they were all anxious and happy to go. It was a small place, so it didn't seem overwhelming for older people who find it hard to get around; it's all on one floor. The hallways were wide. The dining room was very pretty, open, and airy. The rooms were nice. It's an older building, but things were updated. The apartments were clean and neat. Some have carpet, some don't. They have a nice courtyard. They have a really good schedule of activities, including daily exercise classes. They go to places like restaurants, zoos, just all kinds of things that people can do, and I like that, rather than these people having to just sit in the room and vegetate all day. Gina was the girl who gave us the tour. She's a very nice, efficient, young, white lady. She answered our questions. The location was within 15-20 minutes of my brother, so it was conveniently located, and that's why we chose it. Also, it was a little cheaper than some of the other communities.

The tour at Brookdale Arvada was great. It was very close. It was probably about 2 or 3 miles away. It was smaller, so there were fewer residents and fewer rooms. So it seemed like it would be more of a neighborhood feel like even when I went, there weren't a lot of residents that were around, because they were all at cooking class. It was very clean, they had a note on a changeable board, and when I got there, it said Welcome Anthea! That was kind of nice to see. They had nice rooms, and my mom would have been able to afford some of the smaller size rooms, but I liked that everybody took their meals in the dining hall. They take everybody down to the dining hall. They were kind of like, we want to encourage our guests to connect and remain connected. I also liked that facility because it was a little bit closer to nurse-assisted. They had nurses and doctors who were on duty. So, that was kind of getting closer to what I think my mom would need. They supply the appliances in the apartment. They have smaller fridges and a microwave.

I toured Brookdale Arvada. I liked the appearance of the place. It was clean, homey, and comfortable. It looked like it was well arranged. I was only able to speak to one resident there that I happened to see in the lobby and that person was well pleased with living there, and so I liked all of that. The thing maybe I was less pleased about was it seemed like access to the outside was a little bit limited. There was no direct access from each apartment, but there was access from the general areas. I don't know how important that is to most people, but that was one thing I noticed. They had a very comfortable common area. It was a cozy sort of living room arrangement. They had a fireplace there. They also had a very comfortable-looking dining area. They had a couple of places for smaller group settings. One was a kind of theater that looked like most regular theater seats for watching movies. There was an exercise area for group exercises, and that was nice and nicely laid out. The staff who assisted me answered all my questions and she was full of information.

While the facility is very nice, my father lasted 5 days before we felt like they forced us to remove him. My father is a fall risk that they were aware of, and instead of working with us to find a solution, the care team demanded we bring someone else in to watch him or they would do so and then bill us for the care. They were calling every day, demanding meetings and “health plan updates”. When it was discussed that the fees for the companion were unaffordable, they still demanded someone be with him 24/7 until he was acclimated. “Could be a few days or a few weeks.” What’s the point in him being there, then, if they can’t provide the care? When we asked about other options for care, none were provided. When I explained that it felt like they were forcing us to move my father, I was rudely told “well he COULD stay if you got a companion.” They had been told countless times before this wasn’t an option not that family members could stay with him 24/7. When I asked about a refund for the remaining time he would not be in the facility, I was informed “this isn’t us not providing care” when it very much is them not providing any other options. Again, my father was there for what will total 6 days and they were not willing to ACTUALLY do the work to help him acclimate or refund the amount for the other 3 weeks. I am working with corporate regarding the situation and the refund, but you need to be aware that this company wants your money and not to do anything else to help those who need a little extra care.

We were incredibly impressed with Brookdale Arvada. We liked it very much. It was my first experience with memory care, and I found it fascinating. I found their approach to it to be wonderfully compassionate. Throughout the facility are things that would be memorable to people of a certain age: telephones from the 30s and 40s, old typewriters, and an old leather softball. In front of each room is a window box and it has photographs and who these people are: mom, dad, and with my husband, it would be traveler, business, golf, and you have photographs and awards. Just by glancing as you go down the hall, you get an idea of who they are as people. It's amazing. There were several rooms for activities. There was a barber shop and a woman's beauty parlor. There were different decors, and there was art on the walls. It wasn't great art, but they were comforting. There was personality. I went into one room that looked like it was very V.A. oriented. My husband is a veteran. The facility was largely men, which I think would be wonderful for him. They looked like they were in about the same condition. They were in wheelchairs and strollers, and I think he would find a community there. I was incredibly impressed with their approach. I didn't see them interact. It was not lunchtime. We didn't get to see much of what was going on. We walked through the facility. It wasn't lunchtime or anything, but we saw all those men in a room. They had a television, and I think that they would flock together; there would be some companionship. I liked the furniture. It's nondescript and dull, but of course we have accidents and we drop food. All kind of blends in with the whole theme. It is very low key. I just found it to be a fascinating facility, and I really like their approach. It looked homey. It looked much more like a home. We went through and saw that there was a fully decked out activity room. They had a room for potting plants for people who like to do that. That wasn't an actual room. It was in the corner of one of the hallways. They had other places for you to stop along the way because with memory care, the mind drifts in and out constantly. It gives them something new, and I think that would be very stimulating. It offers you lovely directions to good and happy memories. Alzheimer's patients don't know anything, but they can remember what happened in 1936.

The tour I had at Brookdale Arvada was good. The only thing that concerned us was that every year, the cost would go up. The staff was very good, and they are very informative. The room they showed me was a studio. The facility was very nice and very clean.

Rooms: The rooms are very nice. There is room to put your TV and your other items in the room, to make you comfortable. I have a couple of recliners, and it is very comfortable for me when friends come to visit they can sit in one of my chairs. The rooms are kept clean and well-maintained. There are also, several several different size rooms big enough for double beds and a king size bed. Staff: The staff members here are very conscientious about the residence and they try very hard to meet the needs that we have. I have good interaction with the staff members have both the administration as well as the caregivers they are all here to please us and try their very best. Activities: this facility has many different activities available. You can choose the activity wish to participate in whether it’s exercise or going to the movies. We have movies available, card games, chess, and we also go offsite to the movie theaters. Amenities: The facility has a spa tub which is great if you have arthritis or back pains I have utilized this for this amenity on several occasions and find it very helpful for me. Another amenity which I enjoy is we have a bus which takes us out on trips to car shows for fishing and other outdoor activities.

My mother has been in Brookdale Arvada for assisted living before moving to memory care. I would not recommend it to anyone right now, she has been there for years, and what started really good has gone completely downhill. They can't seem to keep the staff, and I'm very disappointed in their services right now. The facility is well kept up. They had a change in upper management at least 3 times in the last 10 months. They used contracted employees who go in there for a day, and they really couldn't care less about the residents. But my mother's room is always clean, and her bathroom is always clean.

Brookdale Arvada looks really pretty from the outside and it's not that old. The people were nice. They were remodelling, and the rooms were really small. They told me that my parents would have to be in separate spaces in twin beds which I won't do. The place wasn't nearly as clean, and I didn't care for it. It was my least favorite out of all the places I visited. The staff seemed really nice and helpful, though.

My mother-in-law has moved into Brookdale Arvada. It is OK, but they're going through a lot of management issues. It takes a long time for them to put my mother-in-law in a wheelchair. It also takes forever to get somebody to get her to her room. They put Depends on her, so they don't have to hurry with her. The food wasn't very good at first, but after some changes it has been better at night or during the day in the common area. However, as far as help, they are going through too many changes. Also because my mother-in-law is limited to a wheelchair, she has only been doing bingo or word games. Of everything we were promised, only 10% has come true.

My father moved into Brookdale Arvada. He has a nice room with new carpets and fresh paint. The food is pretty good and he seems to be eating better. He has gone to Bingo, church services, and so on. There was only one time when the staff took a long time to respond after we called, but the rest of the time they've been really good.

Brookdale was good. It was a very nice facility, but it's expensive. They kept raising the price, so we had to find somewhere else less expensive. The food was good; it was all institutional food. The staff is good. They're all right, and we didn't have any trouble. The place was very well maintained. Mom never participated in the activities. Though she could get outside by herself and could come and go in a protected area, which was nice. We didn't get anything special for a whole lot more money.

There’s plenty of stuff going on at Brookdale Arvada, and my mom is happy there. Everything is satisfactory. The dining area is very nice. The rooms are fine. The common areas look like living rooms. The staff is helpful. We had a few issues with getting people in and settled.

I think Brookdale Arvada is the one that we have decided on. It was great. They have a beautiful area for the residents to sit in the middle, which I really like. The residents all were very happy. The staff seemed to be pretty attentive. The facility is close to my dad, so all of those things are good. I know they went over a list of activities with me. They walked me around and showed me everything that was available, but I didn’t see any activity going on at the time. I know they have a van that could take them out.

I don't care for Brookdale Arvada because it is too big of a corporation, and you won't find a whole lot of good things about it. The price is too high, and they're not putting their time in for their residents because they can't keep their staff. However, they have a very good chef, and the food is amazing.

My grandmother has been in the memory care section for over a year. Everything started out pretty good, but has been getting progressively worse. Meals are served very slow. First coffee is served, then 20 min. later the appetizer. She drinks the coffee and then leaves thinking its done! Workers do not bring her back to eat. She lost at least 20 pounds. Why can't everything be served at once? Complaints and suggestions go unheard. They say they'll get back to us. Still waiting! Showers are not done when it is clear she is dirty, diapers go unchanged, room goes unswept. Lots of employee turnover, including aides, supervisors and directors, leaving us to think all is not well. In search of a new place for Gram!

I like Brookdale Arvada (Sterling House of Arvada) very much. They offer a wide variety of services. The people are very nice, and everybody goes above and beyond. Both my parents need special care, and they are able to get it. The way they treat them is very good. The rooms are small, but they are very nice and very updated. Everything is nice. They are doing well there. They have good food.

Brookdale Arvada was excellent. It's a fairly new facility. There were a variety of activities available, and they're fairly ingenious. They have things everyday. It's a much wider range than just bingo and movies. They do exercise, they have a weights room and therapy, and they take them places. If you check the entrance, they're all key operated and pretty well secure. They have one and two-bedroom units.

Had a parent live there 3 years. Started out fine. As time went on and she declined, service declined. Medication issues, cleanliness issues, response issues, verbal abuse by a staff member, mouse infestation and feces issues, food prep issues. Upper management most concerned with career path. The industry as a whole is staffed by underqualified, untrained employees. There are a few shining stars, but most hate their job. Issues brought to management attention usually swept under the rug with a promise to "get back with you"...still waiting for a response on a med issue from over a year ago. Beginning to think I wont get one. Remodeled facility is very nice. However, new paint, carpet and decorations do not replace the quality of care not given to residents. I would NOT suggest this facility for a loved one.

This community offers a lot to the residents. I have seen the changes over the past few years and am very pleased. The construction and rennovation made a huge difference in the presentation of the community, and the care staff have always provided for our loved one. You can tell that they truly have a heart for what they do. I would highly recommend this place for your loved one.

After 6 weeks in the new and beautiful Clare Bridge Memory Care, I removed my Dad from this facility. Not enough staff. They will charge extra for a lot of services that you would assume would be covered in a memory care. Unless your loved one is in the advanced stages of dementia, it is not an appropriate place in my opinion.

Sterling House is the very first place we visited. They were very nice. The woman we met was really helpful. We explained to her that we're just beginning our search, and we didn't know the difference between assisted living and independent. And she was really helpful. She probably spent an hour and a half with us. She took us to show some rooms. We realized they were just way too small. We understood why because it's an assisted living. Most of the time, we sat in their dining room and just chatted. I think probably the thing that I was most impressed with is that I think it was pretty obvious early on in the conversation that it wasn't what we need. But she was still very helpful in giving us a lot of general information. She was still willing to sit there and talk to us and give us the benefit of her experience, which I thought was very nice. We liked the place. It was nice and pretty new. They were doing some renovations and add-ons. It looked like a very nice place and the people are very nice to us.

My mom-in-law is still at Sterling House of Arvada and we were not happy with the services that they are giving to her. The staff are nice, but when we had complaints nothing was done about it. I think they were just too short of staff for the number of residents that they have. They were supposed to come in and clean every Wednesday for a thorough cleaning, but they just come in and vacuum. I was very disappointed because it took months for them to get the stain out of the carpet after we raised the issue. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Sterling House of Arvada is in the process of doing a major remodeling. They are adding in a memory care unit. We had a tour of the place and it came off as very gated. It didn't have a comfortable feeling in there. It was a little cluttered and worn. I suppose if you are someone who strictly has Alzheimer's with a little mind left, the place is fine, but I didn't find it really appealing. I think it will make a huge difference when the remodeling is done and they have updated all the facility.

My mom was in Sterling House for one month. Pain meds they promised they could get in 2 hours or less took over 18 hours while she lay in pain. Despite repeated calls for incontinent care, she was left with a dirty diaper for well over an hour. They refused to administer her prescribed nausea meds until after she vomited. They failed to deliver at least three meals. They refused to administer her prescribed pain meds for more than three hours. Even the day she arrived, the room was not ready, the hospital bed had not arrived, incontinent care items were not available, the incontinent care staff had not been advised of her needs, the dining room staff had not been advised that they were to deliver meals to her room, and when they did, they had forgotten silverware, napkins, and beverage. These are just a sampling of the four weeks of Sterling House incompetence. Not a place for a loved one IMHO.

My grandpa is in this facility. The ratio of staff to residents is terrible. These young employees have no concept of caring for the elderly. The food is ok but not great by any means. They call this assisted living but in reality it is a glorified nursing home. I wished I had the power and the ability to care for me grandpa myself. DONT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE

This is a small, intimate assisted living facility with the rooms arranged in a square, which makes it easy for residents to navigate. The decor is basic but clean"”although the place has a bit of a clinical feel. The rooms are of average size. The staff and nurses are really on tip of the care"”checking on residents constantly. If a resident needs that kind of attention, the place is excellent; such personalized care is probably easier here because it's smaller and more intimate than most other assisted living places. If residents enter assisted living and then and decline a lot, Sterling House is really good about keeping them on as opposed to pushing them out the door. That helps, because residents can then receive care from people who are constant and familiar to them. I have heard only praise for the food. There is a fulltime recreational therapist who organizes and offers lots of activities; not especially posh or plentiful equipment for exercising, but there are movies and such. Sterling House is best suited for residents who are not too ambulatory"”and those who might need more care, since the staff is quite watchful. The cost is in the lower range, more affordable than many in the area.

My grandmother is a resident at the Sterling House in Arvada, Colorado. While she enjoys the activities that are provided to the residents, such as children groups coming to sing to them or other musicians of sorts, she thinks that her room is too small. She also does not like the large loudspeaker in the room that awakes residents early in the morning. I think that she enjoys the meals there, but many of the residents clearly suffer from dementia or some other type of memory loss. Unfortunately, my grandmother is only at this facility because of her physical health; her mental health is fine. This makes it difficult for her to have meaningful conversations with her residents. On a final note, the staff has always been helpful and welcoming.
