Brookdale Central Whittier looked really good and clean. At that moment, they were having a reunion with the people living there. Everybody was nice. They showed us around. Everything for me was a five. They had people outside on the patio. There was singing. It looked like everybody was happy.

I went to look at Brookdale Central Whittier. I was impressed with the facility. It was pleasant and clean. It seemed like they had friendly staff. The rooms were nicely kept. They seemed to have a lot of activities for the individuals that were housed there. I liked it. The cost was a little high. It was nicely furnished. The structure was very nice and well-kept. The grooming outside was well done. It looked beautiful, nice, and spacious. They had back lobby places. The staff was very informative, helpful, and pleasant.

We went to Brookdale Central Whittier. I guess they can't help it, but the sidewalk and some areas in the parking lot were buckled, so we kind of went around. I just wish it was smoother. That's probably my only complaint. I don't think the sidewalk is handled by them (it's probably the city), but it's senior care, so they need to address it somehow. Other than that, we went over with the wheelchair just cautiously. I don't know if they had a handicap button, but we couldn't find it. My caretaker was with me and she opened the door. As soon as we walked in, the lady was nice. They showed us all the three different types of apartments they have. She said there was a fourth one but because my aunt is wheelchair-bound, it wouldn't be good for her because it's not designed for a wheelchair like the doors are kind of too short. The other ones have wider doors and wider bathrooms for a wheelchair. The first and the second apartment were a good size. The third one was a smaller, more compact one. My concern was just trying to get the wheelchair through there. She's wheelchair bound and we have a very thin wheelchair. I liked them all. They were all designed very beautifully except for the third one. It was narrow to get through. Right now, they weren't doing activities because someone just passed away. The staff said, "I'm sorry, normally we would be having tons of activities, but there is a resident who passed away and we're all getting through it." She gave me a list of their calendar and there was an abundance. They had different services for churches like Catholic, and Christian, and she said there was another one. They did offer us coffee, but no meal. I love the fact that they were caring enough not to do activities when someone passed away. They were all friendly. I can't imagine a day when everybody's fine, so that's great. The staff showed us a library, a game room where they play pool or something, and a rec room. The rec room is more for like meetings and then a separate room was the church part that had a bunch of chairs. We saw a lot of different areas in that building.

My father-in-law chose Brookdale Central Whittier. He just said he wanted to live there. It seemed like the staff was friendly, the people were friendly, and the facility was clean, bright, and appealing. They do room cleaning and laundry once a week. They have a nurse onsite and they serve you your meals in the dining hall.

I went to tour Brookdale Central Whittier. It was a very nice facility. They're nice people, too. The staff was very nice. Very warm feeling. Friendly service. They had a center patio. There were people sitting out there. They have a lunchroom and a game room. There were people in there and there was someone watching TV. In the hallways, there were chairs there and there were friendly people there that were just having snacks, enjoying and conversating with other elderly people that are there, too. It was nice to see that. They were all having a good old time. It didn't matter if their family members were there or not, they were happy. If I have to leave my mother-in-law there, I would be happy because I know, that if I couldn't go every day to visit her, at least she would be surrounded by those people that will keep her happy and friendly. I got to see one of the sample rooms, and it was nice, and it looked pretty private. The community is in a good area, so that's well recommended. I know people don't want to go visit other people if they feel unsafe, and in that general area, it's very safe. So I would recommend that community because of its area and its tranquility and because it's safe and it's in a nice area. I saw the dining area and it was very big. They said that if your family member has a birthday coming up or something, you can reserve it and have a party there for them, and they will let you use the whole area to yourself. So that's nice of them. The place was well kept, clean, and maintained.

My dad has already moved to Brookdale Central Whittier. I like the community, they're very friendly people and very friendly staff members. He loves the activities, they play a couple of bingo games every night, and there are exercises, so he enjoys that. He said the food is good, and he's a very picky eater. I love the staff. They have a salon and they have their activities that they do in the courtyard, and they have a game facility.

Brookdale Central Whittier is a very nice place, and we were very interested in it, but when they quoted $6200 a month or whatever, it's just that wasn't going to happen. I also saw the other facility but I preferred the Whittier one as far as location and the facility. I did like it. I thought the staff was very friendly. We were very interested because we liked what we saw. They were very friendly and informative. It was a pretty warm environment when we saw them interacting with the other clients there. Everyone was smiling. Everyone seemed very happy and very friendly there. It was very clean. It met my expectations as far as the actual facility.

Mom moved into Brookdale Central Whittier. That was close to my house and was less expensive than the other one from the same company. Also, they sounded nice over the phone, so we chose it. My mom's room is spacious, it's not bad, and she has a roommate. The room is nice, it's not a bad-size room, just the bathroom is quite small. But besides that, it's good. I'm furious with the staff. I have a meeting with them soon. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They were offering flu shots and booster shots. I left a message for the nurse and she called me back. She was like, "Hey, so I'm calling you back in regards to your mom. What is it that I can help you with?" I was like, "Yeah, you guys are offering booster shots and flu shots? Would you be so kind as to please give her the booster shot, but make sure, make sure, make sure not to give her the flu shot. No ifs, no buts, no nothing. Please do not give her the flu shot as her body doesn't react well to it at all." I was laying that to her multiple times, and then I called her back trying to find out how my mom was doing. Even after I think she got the booster shot, I still wanted to know how she was doing. She's like, "Yeah, don't worry, your mom is fine. We gave her the flu shot, she's fine." That's when I lost it. I was like, "What do you mean you gave her the flu shot even after I asked you not to give her the flu shot?" She's like, "No, no, no, I meant to say the booster shot," and I believed her. You know, we could accidentally say something wrong sometimes, we're human. She's like, "Yeah, don't worry, absolutely no problem, she's fine." I was like, "OK, great, I'm happy." I was like, "Oh, good, good, I'm going to come and see her anyway." Then I went to see her. Her roommate tells me, "Your mom has been sick since they gave her the flu shot. She has been really sick." I was like, "What do you mean they gave her the flu shot? She told me she gave her the booster shot." She's like, "No, your mom doesn't qualify for the booster shot just like I didn't either." I was like, "What do you mean?" "You have to wait six months from the time that you got your last shot." I was like, "Oh, but she told me she gave her the booster shot." She's like, "No, I don't know, but you need to go downstairs and verify with the nurse. She's here right now. I know, because I saw her." I went downstairs, I could hear her say to the representatives, to the personnel on the walkie-talkie, "Tell her I'm not available," which is fine, she could be with that person or whatever or what have you. So she doesn't call me back and she doesn't call or anything. I left a message. Then she called me back the next day and she changed the story completely. She's like, you never told me. I said, "Now you're flat out lying because I did call you multiple times not to give her the flu shot. And then I called you to verify how my mom was doing. And then you lied, you changed the story." And she's like, "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do that." But you know, she's been sick. "Oh, really? She's been sick?" I go, "So you didn't check on her for a whole week. You don't even know that she's sick," and she's like, "As soon as I get to work I'll find out, I'll go check on her, and then I'll let you know." I never received a callback. So then I sent an email to the office. The next day, I gave her more than 24 hours to get back to me, she didn't. Then I went back to visit Mom again, and I found that right after she received the flu shot she fell a few days later. They didn't tell me, it was her roommate who did. By law or their policy, if a patient falls, they're supposed to call the family member, and I never received a call. This other nurse's assistant started coming up with lies too. She's like, "Oh, I did call you." I said, "Which number, because if you called me I would have received the call. I didn't receive a call, or you did leave me a message, or even text me, or email me, which number did you call me on?" Then she started making up different numbers. I was like, "That's not my number." And she's like, "Oh, that's what I thought." "What do you mean, you thought? " She's like, "Oh, I called three different numbers." I was like, "OK, what are the other numbers?" She couldn't tell me. She said, "Oh, I called a medic and I called Kaiser Permanente doctor." I said, "OK, so what did the doctor say?" "Oh, I left a message. I don't know." I said, "Well, you wouldn't want to know what happened, what the doctors are saying? Did they come there?" She said, "Oh, I was off for the next few days. I don't know what's going on." I was like, "You've been at work the whole day, the next day you've been at work the whole day, and you're telling me you don't know?" This is not acceptable, not acceptable at all. They keep on making up lies. She's like, "She didn't fall in front of us or anything, we found her like that." I said, "Really? Her roommate told me she fell in front of you guys." She pretended she didn't hear me and I said it again. And then she looked up, avoiding eye contact, and then she's like, "Oh, yeah, yeah, that's what I said." So if they can lie bluntly like that, what kind of scam are they running? This is disgusting. When we started everyone was friendly and nice. I didn't know this is how they are. I just never expected someone to lie like that. Two different employees within the same week. I can only imagine what they do when people are not looking. Thank God I had a witness.

Brookdale Central Whittier has the ability to provide my mom with personal care, hygiene showering, and medication oversight. The two people that I met, including the person who was like the director of operations, were well-informed and educated. I would feel comfortable with them and their professional standards having my mother at their facility. The place was clean. I didn't see any evidence of deferred maintenance. The paint looked fresh. The carpets looked clean, and everything looked neat and orderly to me. The elevator looked convenient, even if you're in a wheelchair because the panel is in a position that would be easy to reach. The facility's layout was a courtyard perimeter style, so that it would be impossible to get lost. If you're walking around the hallway, you'd eventually come back to the entryway. There would be somebody always onstaff to make certain that you weren't confused. They would be able to get back to your own room, dining room, or their entertainment room. Their central courtyard is available to the residents. All the hallways circle back to the main entryway, where there was always somebody present to make certain that the residents didn't go unnoticed.

My relative has moved into Brookdale Central Whittier. Everything has been great so far. They have helped her move in; they provided the movers to get that done. They have been pretty great about everything so far. The staff is friendly and caring. The apartment is bigger than we expected; it's very accommodating. One thing my relative loves about the place is the variety of food that they're offering. She also likes the movie nights that they have in their small theater there.

Brookdale Central Whittier was not as good as the other Brookdale I visited. They did not have a wide selection of food, and they only served at set times. They did not have a 24-hour selection of food. You could eat when the food was available rather than they had food available whenever you wanted. One of my friends who stayed there called it an old folk's home. The only reason he stayed there was because that was the only one he could afford.

I visited Brookdale. I really liked the fact that it did not look like an institution. I liked the fact that it had anytime dining and liked the availability of everything. The room looked like a regular apartment. It was spacious and extremely clean. The residents seemed very happy.

The facilities in Brookdale were very dark and closed in, and there weren’t as much outdoor areas like garden areas. The person who assisted me was very kind, very welcoming, and forthright, but I just didn’t like the facility.

My father-in-law is living in Brookdale Central Whittier. They are an adequate facility for providing meals and a clean and safe environment for him. It is a nice apartment, there are only 62 people living there, and it's two-story. He has made friends, and it is a nice setup. They take him to pick up his pharmaceuticals and for shopping, they have programs and speakers at least one a day everyday, and he orders off of a menu just like a restaurant for his meals.

Brookdale Central Whittier was great. It was too small for what I wanted for my father, but I liked it. The people were super nice. The studio apartments that were available did not have kitchenettes. They only had a bedroom and a bathroom.

Everybody is extremely friendly. The ambience is very nice, very clean, very welcoming, and warm. I felt comfortable having my grandfather live in this environment. We are extremely impressed by Brookdale Central Whittier (Formerly Emeritus at Whittier). The rooms are good sized. They look like little apartments. It has a restroom and a living space, big enough to put a bedroom set, about the size of a studio. We were invited to come back and try a meal there; it was a nice meal, and he enjoyed it. They take them on field trips, and they have a shuttle or bus that comes to pick them up and take them to doctor's appointments as necessary or on grocery shopping trips. They have a movie room, a little pub, a library, an outdoor area, and a cafeteria. The staff is just amazing. They truly genuinely want to help us find a good home to place our grandfather in, whether it was them or somewhere else. They weren't pushy.

The one that I almost chose was Brookdale (Brookdale Central Whittier). It just wasn't geographically as good as the other one. It was clean and friendly. The dining rooms were all wonderful. The grounds were particularly nice. They had a friendly and accommodating staff.

They were very nice and very hospitable at Brookdale Central Whittier, but they did not have memory care. I did not actually tour the whole facility, but the manager asked me to come to her office, and she went online and got ten directories for me to follow up with. I thought she really went out of her way.

I put my uncle in Brookdale Central Whittier. We chose it because they had a room available on the ground floor close to the dining room. The closeness was a consideration. I also like the people. They were above and beyond caring. They were helpful and took a lot of stress off of me. It was definitely the right thing to do. When we went walking through, all the workers seemed to know all the patients and their names, and we have talked to them. Overall, they are terrific.

The one that I visited is Emeritus at Whittier (Brookdale) because that is the city closest to me. I went and check it out. I loved it. The place is great. I could get back and forth to her more frequently. I had my mind kind of made up with that, but my mom passed away. The staff was great. I actually went there twice because I had to go back about a month later. The surroundings were fine, but I was more in tuned to the inside. The surroundings were nice, and the outside was presentable. It was nice, and it didn't look raggedy or needing care. The rooms are fine. As for activities, everything that she needed and liked was there. I like the activities that they have, I like the rooms, and I like the dining room; there was so much that I just liked everything.

Emeritus was very nice, but it was an older place. The woman that I talked to was extremely friendly and nice. She went far beyond what she needed to do. She introduced me to the other members there. She was very outgoing and involved. I saw one room only and didn’t like the one room area. They have basic exercises and daily music and dancing.

The staff at Emeritus at Whittier are super polite, very welcoming, caring, and sensitive. The manager was really welcoming. They are very informative about the financial system. I thought they were really great. Their dining room is perfect for their residents. I think they have an agenda of activities to be done every day. I would recommend this facility.

We like Emeritus. They are not too far away from places to shop, to market, etc. They also provide transportation to those stores and that's nice. However, this facility was just as expensive as the other facility I visited. I just don't want my brother's money to be spent solely to living expenses because he still has medical bills to pay. The facility itself was clean and nice but not as nice as the other facility. The staff was pretty informative and they provided information that I needed to know for my brother. Their rooms were nice and clean. They have a dining hall where people can eat food and they also have a small kitchen area.

I visited Emeritus and I had a really good experience. It was clean facility and had a very nice atmosphere. When you walked in the facility, they had a garden at the center of the building, which was very nice. The lady who showed us around was really cordial and informative.

The director who showed me around Emeritus at Whittier seemed very nice. The place is also very nice. The residents that I saw roaming around looked very happy. It was a place that I would live myself. The staff that toured me also mentioned that they go on shopping excursions.

Emeritus was the best place for my mother. The staff that I met with had a very involved attitude. After talking with them, I was sure that they were committed to helping the people that were there not because it was their job but that it was personally important to them that they provide good care for the residents there. Not all the rooms have the same size. They offer both single rooms and shared rooms. My mom has probably the largest room there.

Emeritus at Whittier is our choice for our mother because it is close to home. It is clean and we like the staff. My mother is in her own private room and has her own bathroom. It is very spacious and we like it. The food is good. They have a beautiful patio that is very well kept. They have all kinds of activities that I liked and I hope one day my mother will like it too. They have bingo, card games and exercises. They have a movie room. They have a library. They have a fellow that plays the guitar, another fellow playing the piano, and a horn player. They have people coming from the churches singing. They take them out for shopping and casino. But she hasn't done any of them and she won't go. The people there were all happy and we are very happy with them too. It is what we are looking for. When I reach that age, that's the place I would like to be.
