My husband is at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. It's spacious. They have some nice grounds where he can take walks every day and still be within the facility. He likes the food. They're very attentive to his needs. They're very attentive to getting him settled in and making sure that the transition was a smooth one for him. They've been in constant contact with me, so I have good communication with them. My husband is just getting involved in activities like the walking club and exercise classes and stuff. He is socializing, too. They have assigned seats in the dining room, so he's not sitting alone. Previously in the other place he was in, he got to choose where he sat, and most of the time, he sat alone. Now he has tablemates that he gets to sit and socialize with every day, which I think is a really good thing. However, I would like to see a greater variety of activities and more field trips to different locations. The only other complaint I have is the transportation they provide for medical visits is very limited. It's only two days a week and it's a certain time frame. If you get an appointment on a Wednesday, you have to find your own transportation, so that is a concern to me.

I went to Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. The place was tired, out of date, and old-fashioned. The room was bright, but the whole facility seemed not well maintained. The person who gave the tour was lovely. The dining area looked just fine. I did not sample the food. It looked ordinary. For activities, they have happy hour and cocktail hour. They have exercise groups, too. I think Sunrise needs to have an uplift. It needs to be painted, revamped and brought up to date.

My aunt has a room at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. It is a very nice facility for senior citizens who need limited support to full Reminiscence or memory care. They've got very caring staff and lots of activities and lots of engagement. They bring people in to entertain the residents. They do different programs. They have a schedule they follow. They have a nice dining area and good food. They have a choice of menu. They have exercise classes, people coming in playing music, and games. They do Mother's Day activities, things for the holidays, just anything you can think of. They have game nights and movie nights. My aunt started in an assisted living apartment, and quickly they realized that she wasn't transitioning well, so they provided extra support for her during that time. Eventually, they bridged her to the Reminiscence or memory care part of the facility. They worked with me in transitioning her to that part of the unit. They're very caring. The person that runs the Reminiscence area, Debbie, is amazing. She spends time with families and talks and she's on top of everything. The staff is very caring of the clients, and they know them very well. It's a nice place for seniors that have dementia or Alzheimer's. They do gardening and all kinds of stuff. As soon as my aunt leaves the hospital, she's gonna go back to Sunrise. If you have the money to be there, it's a nice place. It's very expensive.

My parents were at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon for a year. It was definitely not updated in comparison to what we experienced with the other place so far. It was not as updated, but it was pleasant. They have an outdoor area and a dining area for the residents. It was nice enough to where we felt comfortable moving my parents in there. The apartment was fine. They had a balcony. The welcoming staff was fine. It was always hard to get ahold of anyone, escecially when we were trying to find the person that we were supposed to communicate with about my parents. The people that came to do their meds and stuff were nice enough, but the housekeeping was a total failure. My parents' apartment was always dirty, especially the bathroom, which was really upsetting to us. They had music, and they had senior exercise classes there. It was a different experience for us because it was during the pandemic, so a lot of things were halted right as soon as they moved in. It was tough there, but certain things shouldn't have been affected, like the housekeeping and that kind of stuff. The meals weren't great. If you didn't like what they had, you could go ahead and order something special, so that kind of helped. However, the bill was never consistent. It was always different, and they would come up with reasons why it was going higher and higher and higher every time. They never really had a direct answer for us. They could improve on their housekeeping. They were clearly understaffed for the number of residents. It was a larger place.

Sunrise at Sterling Canyon seems like a less secure place compared to the other place I toured. Even though they had their front door, they had a lot of courtyards inside the complex. And those courtyards all had emergency exits going out, which could potentially be propped open and people could be able to come into the facility. The main part of the building was fine. The two rooms I saw seemed a little dark so I wasn't comfortable with that, and the place itself was also darker. It's not just the lighting, it's also the combination of the growth of the trees, there's a lot of vegetation and a lot of shade.

We went to Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. The rooms were good. They had options. You can get a one-bedroom, or you could have a studio apartment, which is what most people would have. But they did have available larger rooms. The dining room was excellent. They do chair exercises, watch TV and movies, and play games. They had a recreation room. The staff was great.

I saw Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. I like it, but it's high end. I need something less expensive. I was very impressed. It's a nice facility. I would like to put my husband in Sunrise because the hallway was so big that two wheelchairs could pass each other at the same time. It's just too much for my budget. I didn't see a staff, but the manager walked me through the place. I liked the rooms, the hallway, the cafeteria or lunch area, and the courtyard. It's very beautiful. I just did a short tour, but the person who showed me around was very polite, very smooth, and very nice. The rooms were very nice and very clean, and the one-bedroom had a little kitchen and a tiny living room. It would be nice to move my husband there; it's just too high end.

My mother has a shared room at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. There is one room on one side, another room on the other side, and then a shared bathroom. They have a dining facility, and they do medication management. She is in the Reminiscence part of it, which is the memory care unit. The staff was very nice, very friendly, and gave me all the information about my mom. They do things like watching the Super Bowl together in the common area, taking them for a walk around the area, or playing games. They have a beauty salon and a library, too. I was able to try their food, and it's good. I like them a lot.

I really liked Sunrise at Sterling Canyon, and my dad is currently there with respite care. I think everything is going well so far, there was an issue with medications, and that was disappointing, but other than that they've been very good. The room is very nice, they allowed us to share meals with him, the food is very good, and he seems to be happy there. They have activities which my dad has participated in.

I'm moving into Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. I like the way the management works with the residents. They all seemed pretty content. There's supposed to be a lot of activities, which I'm looking forward to. They are caring people, and they will help me with my medications and anything that might come up. Everybody's very friendly, very open and sincere, and they'll answer your questions. I brought my friends with me, and the lunch we had was very good. A lot of people attend the restaurant area and have their breakfast, lunch and dinner, and they have snacks throughout the day. It was very clean and kept up very nicely.

My experience getting my mom into Sunrise at Sterling Canyon was absolutely fantastic. What really stand out are the people who work there, the activities and the 24-hour staff. For the memory care, they have a baking club, reading club, walking group, exercise, trivia games, they go out a couple of times a week on rides to places for sensory experiences, and they also have music night.

Sunrise at Sterling Canyon seemed really nice. It definitely had a homey feeling that we thought my mother-in-law would definitely like. The people were wonderful. The director was fantastic. The rooms were fine. They had little kitchenettes. It wasn't brand new or renovated and it obviously has been there for a little while, but they're taking care of it and it's still nice. It doesn't look worn down. The cabinets were a little older style, but nice.

We chose Sunrise at Sterling Canyon for my mom because they were rated very well by several people who lived or have lived there. My mom really likes living there and likes the people who take care of her. They're friendly to her. She likes the activities, and now she's more social because there are a lot of people around her. She's enjoying it and likes the food.

Sunrise at Sterling Canyon had no parking for visitors. They had to park across the street. The food was good and they had transportation. It's very expensive, but it's a good place to live and there's a nice outside patio where people could go out and walk around.

As with all assisted living facilities, Sunrise at Sterling Canyon has good and bad points. The caregivers are of excellent caliber, however, they are understaffed and overworked. It's too bad Sunrise Corporate doesn't do something about staffing correctly. It would be just about perfect if the Caregivers were given some care by the company they work for.

Sunrise at Sterling Canyon just felt homier. There was a huge living room, people were in there, and they seemed so comfortable. My mom has been there for 2 weeks already. They seem really friendly, the staff is great, and every staff member has gone out of their way to be nice. Some would even ask for her, talk to her, call her by name, and help her. Even though they are not assigned to her, they will come and talk to her. We have no problems with the staff at all; they have been terrific. She is sitting down and eating meals, and she has three other people at the table with her so she is socializing more. She is going down for the social hours, she goes down for flower arranging, and they have lots of music and concerts; people come in and do concerts for them with a violin or piano. It has been great so far.

My experience with Sunrise at Sterling Canyon was not very good. They did not really seem interested to even talking to us. The guy did, but he said, “We do not have any room anyway. I do not really know why you are here.” He just did not seem to be very interested. The dining room was all right. The room seemed all right and larger. They seemed to have a fair amount of stuff going on. The facility looked old and needed updating. It would be nice to have somebody that did things for your business that was actually interested in talking to people and getting them interested in the facility. However, you did not have any room, then you would not really care, but it would have been nice to have someone more personable. It was pretty expensive. It was very convenient for me. It was near my home.

We had an excellent tour with Sunrise. It was an older facility, but The rooms were all studios and excellent. They offered three meals a day, social activities, and a little bus service that would take you shopping or on day trips.

My mother had a larger place at Sunrise but it wasn’t handicap ready in the bathroom, so that was not very good. She has a wheelchair and that was really hard. The shower is very small. They gave her a tiny shower seat, which was not very stable, and she fell off of it a couple of times. They were always understaffed. The director sometimes served coffee in the morning. I really didn’t like the place very much at all. My mother didn’t like the food. There was a urine smell in the elevators that I never liked. It didn’t smell fresh and clean, but we had no choice because we signed the contract.

MUST READ!!!!! This is by far the worst senior care living facility I have ever experienced in my life, so bad I must say that we are currently talking with a lawyer and may take these issues I will list to court. My wife and I had moved my dad into the Sunrise at sterling canyon, Valencia only to remove him a few months later. We had discovered that he was not getting adequate care so much so to the point that he had not showered for days on end and he had developed sores and a bad rash. I have talked to other family members of residents in this facility that have had similar experiences and they have even said that their parents had laid in their own urine and feces for hours before someone had eventually had time to change them and get them clean. I have talked to some of the sunrise care workers there to find out why my dad and several others had been treated so poorly and the most common response is that they are incredibly short staffed most nights and do not have time to visit all the residents even when they do page for help. Oh and when my wife and I brought up the issue to the executive director who's name is Igor he was completely rude and denied all of what I had just mentioned above and pretty much tried to silence us. SO IF YOU HAVE ANY HEART AND LOVE FOR YOUR PARENTS DO NOT MOVE THEM INTO THIS PLACE IT IS HORRENDOUS!!!!!!!

We were able to look at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon, and my wife seemed to like the outdoor area. They were larger. The staff was knowledgeable, and the room was slightly larger. They have different activities like piano recital, movies a couple of times a week, they have a guy that comes in and does model building, and they also have a fairly decent exercise room.

Sunrise is located near my residence. They are taking good care of my aunt. She is doing well, and it is good. They have different options available, but she chose the smallest one, and she's happy. The reason why my aunt chose Sunrise at Sterling Canon is because it isn't he most modern and beautiful inside, but it comes down to the money. It is a thousand dollars a month cheaper than the other facility. It is affordable.

I was able to visit Sunrise at Sterling Canyon, and I was treated very well by their staff. He was a very nice man, and he answered all my questions and took me on a tour. If I went there, I know I would be pleased, but I know my husband would not be. They did have transportation and showed that they went to places.

Sunrise at Sterling Canyon is right across the street from a grocery store, CVS, restaurants and banking, but the street is a very busy street. Outside around it is more residential versus the other two facilities. The facility was a little bit larger and the rooms were a little bit larger. Practically all the rooms have a sliding door along with their front door where they could be outside. So that was kind of something a little different to have the two doors like that, and have that little bit more open space.

We visited Sunrise. Their rooms are really nice. They were playing games when I was there. In the memory care unit had a good feel to it, and they had some music. They had some quiet area with some nice music playing, and it just seemed like a little area available for people who didn't want to participate in big groups. There were some well-decorated private areas for people who wanted to hang out there.

My mother is now at Sunrise at Sterling Canyon. I love this place. For one thing, it is off the road a little bit, and it is close to me; that's why we chose this for her. Also, it is not close to a busy street or too close to the road. It is a very big community. The staff is wonderful. They're so good to my mother. She has plenty of room in her room. I eat there, and the food is good. The dining room has plenty of room for the residents. They have a lot of activities for the residents. They are going to a bear show this week. They would take them to Granary Square, which is right across the street. They would also take them to Walmart. They would also go to a movie or something for an activity. They play bingo and blackjack. They have pianists come in, and they have sing-alongs. They do all kinds of things with the residents. They always have something going on; they never get bored. They're really good for an ALF. The only thing is maybe they could be a little quicker with their response to the residents when the residents call for help.

I was very impressed with the staff and accommodations at Sunrise assisted living. From the first week I started volunteering there, I could tell that the staff were well trained and genuinely interested in the well being of the residents. All of the residents I came in contact with were happy and well taken care of. There were constantly activities being put on for their entertainment, and there never seemed to be a dull moment at Sunrise. I myself set up for card games and bingo a number of times, and the staff were always extremely helpful in aiding my volunteering efforts. The rooms and accommodations seemed spacious and nice, and all of the residents definitely felt at home at Sunrise. The food was also far better than what I had experienced at other assisted living facilities I had visited in the past. Overall, I would give Sunrise top marks.

I was very happy with the care my grandfather received at Sunrise. The caretakers genuinely seem to care about the residents and make strong efforts to comfort them and help them feel at home. Other nursing homes we had visited didn't seem to mind if their residents stayed isolated in their rooms all day, but not Sunrise. When my grandfather was a resident they encouraged him to play his guitar, attend field trips, and dine with other residents and be active and vibrant. His caretakers always expressed how much they enjoyed listening to my grandfather's stories, and it made me happy to know that they really were taking time to get to know my grandfather. The staff always knew his whereabouts whenever I stopped by to visit and they voluntarily updated me with any news regarding is well-being, especially when his dementia became worse. He lived his final days at Sunrise and it was a comfort to know that he was cared for by compassionate people.
