I toured Hillcrest Royale. If my mom could have stayed in California, that is the facility she would have gone to. We liked it. We liked the people, the residents, the staff, and the administrator. They're very friendly, very open, and very welcoming. It's an older building. It's not as spread out. It's multiple floors instead of a one-floor design.

My friend and I went to Hillcrest Royale yesterday. It's a very vibrant community. We saw a lot of residents and everyone seemed very happy. We were introduced to the staff and they also seemed very happy. The person who showed us around was lovely. The cleanliness was excellent. The building was a little more dated. The outside facilities were well maintained but smaller. The atmosphere was excellent. Everyone was so happy and engaging. They wanted to talk to us and wanted to tell us about the facilities, and how nice it is there. It was very good.

Hillcrest Royale was excellent. It appeared to be very clean. The woman who gave the tour was one of the 3 managers there, and she was very friendly. They had staff that had worked there for a long time. All the residents seemed very pleasant. Their apartments looked very nice. They showed me the different public rooms, a beauty salon, a movie theater, a cafeteria, and 2 dining rooms.

We toured Hillcrest Royale. It was very dated. I know they're going through renovations, but it's very dated and they had very small showers that were probably unusable for certain people, I felt. They're friendly, but just run down to me. I only met one staff member and she was great. They had a theater, a dining room, and a game room, but they're limited amenities to me.

I did a tour of Hillcrest Royale, and I would really love to get my mom there. It was a place where I got a really great vibe. All the residents were really happy. Although the place looked a little outdated, they were doing some upgrades to it. People were out and walking. I was really happy there, but it's a little bit pricey. They had a lot going on there. They had fitness for the residents, movie night, and bingo. They had walks for people to go on. I really liked it there, but they weren't really willing to work with me too much on the price. They did help me a little bit. The problem was that they had listed on their website $3600, and it had not been updated. So when I went there, they quoted me a different price. It was quite a bit more. I have not tried the food. I saw it, and it looked good. They also let them customize their meals there, which I thought was really a nice touch. They were doing some upgrades. They offered two different eating times for people that don't get up too early. I thought the condition of the facility was low, but the overall friendliness and attention were more important to me. It was clean and everything. It was just a little outdated, but they are working on updating it.

The service at Hillcrest is excellent, and they do everything that you need, but they don't force you if you can do it on your own. There are tremendous number of activities, which I don't participate in, but they're available, and I think that's an excellent thing. Our rooms are very well maintained, and we have multiple choices in food. The owner is superb and compassionate. I'm extremely happy here and comfortable.

My mother is in Hillcrest Royale. My overall impression of the place is very good; that is why I put her there. They have several different sizes of rooms, but they are very nice. They are like a large hotel room with a very nice size bathroom and a very large closet and a balcony. The room sizes are all extremely adequate. The activities they offer are excellent. Their calendar is full everyday with lots of activities like bingo, music, arts & crafts, exercise class, and brain games.

My father-in-law that’s at Hillcrest Royale has care that comes in and spends the whole day with him. It’s a smaller facility. They have 2 dining halls and a community room. They have people that come on the grounds, and they socialize. They have a movie theater. They’re very conveniently located because they’re across the street from one of the little outdoor malls. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping that is within walking distance. Our family member was still walking and using a walker at the time that he moved in, so for him to be able to get around like that was a big plus for us. They have shuttles where they take field trips and outings, and I know they go to things like the senior center also in town. They post the calendar, and it says the activities of the month and who’s coming and going. They post the menu, and the dining halls are nice. There are 2 big dining halls, and they have linen tablecloths, so it feels nice. I can’t say enough nice things about the staff. They’re really great there, and they make him feel like family; that was important to us. It doesn’t look like the community is aging. They keep it clean and maintained, and it looks fine when you come in.

My relative has been in Hillcrest Royale for a couple of months now. It's very, very nice. She's very happy there. The room is lovely; the food is good. They take really good care of them. They're busy all the time. They have exercise, and there's always music going. They have games and classes. They have a lunch/brunch where they go out to a nice restaurant about once every three weeks or so. They do their laundry, give them their medication, and help them dress. All those things cost a little more. They have single rooms, and they're very, very spacious. There's a little kitchenette that has a refrigerator, a sink, and a little cabinet area for their dishes if they want, but there's no stove. My aunt has one of those rooms, and then the next room is her bedroom, so she has a really big place. They have a great staff. It's family-owned, so they have a real family touch, and they're very helpful. I'm pretty happy with everything so far.

Though I don't visit my grandfather as often as I should, the woman behind the front desk at Hillcrest Royale always seems to recognize me and immediately be able to locate my grandfather, whether he's in his room, in the dining hall or relaxing some of the facility's other social areas. I'm comforted by the fact that the staff and residents always seem so cordial with each other. My grandfather's room is spacious and comfortable with a great view of Thousand Oaks. Artwork and furniture from his old living arrangement were brought in. Not only is he comfortable, but when I or other family members visit, we feel more as though we're visiting a hotel or apartment than entering an assisted living facility. Before finding Hillcrest Royale, we checked out some places that I know I personally would not like to spend my time in. Hillcrest Royale is a great place for my grandpa and knowing that brings my family peace of mind.
