I thought Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana was wonderful. I thought it was great. The only drawback is that there aren't a lot of outdoor grounds to walk around. Otherwise, it is nice. The room was small, but it was very nice. It was light and airy. It seemed like there was a microwave. There was room for a sitting area as well as the bed area. The only thing I could not see was the more expensive room because they didn't have one available. It's called the alcove room. The staff who gave the tour was great. He was friendly, informative, and very upbeat. He spent a lot of time with me. The whole experience was great. And there was parking for the residents, which was good, too. I went to the dining room, and I saw the menu. The staff said that there were alternatives all the time in case the resident didn't like a particular meal. You can always get a sandwich or something if you don't like what's on the menu. The building is very clean and very nice. The whole outside is covered with scaffolding right now because they're painting it. Although there isn't much outdoor space, the location is great. There are places to go. They have like a walking group, too, where they take them out and go for a walk. They seem to have a lot of activities and a lot of community spaces. There are a lot of places to go to get out of your room. Like there's a big veranda, there's a game room and a TV room.

I toured Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana. It was clean. The staff there was friendly. It looked like a nice place. They had a good curriculum. The facility is well-maintained. The rooms were adequate. They were nice rooms. I'd say very comfortable looking. They had a community garden and a patio.

I went to Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana. It felt like it was active and clean. The people that took care of me were very friendly. Mitch was very accommodating and worked with me on the pricing, which was great. But on the whole, I just really liked the atmosphere of the place, the cleanliness, and the big corridors in the room areas. A couple of elevators. There were bathrooms all over the place. The dining area looked very nice and clean, and the menus looked very nice. I was just impressed with the whole thing. And I thought that it was a good price for what we were getting. They have a very lovely woman, Lily, who does the activities, and she seemed extremely personable, positive, upbeat, and fun. It was very nice to see her in action.

I toured Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana for my father. They were very on top of things. It was very clean. I liked the layout and that it's smaller and was very nice. The people were good. It was just a lot further drive for me. They had three different sizes for the rooms. They had one that had a sitting room. They also have two little courtyards, where people can go out and sit. It's nice. Some room faces into the courtyard. The smaller rooms were nice. All rooms had refrigerators and a microwave area that they could set up for food.

My father will be moving into Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana. I like the community itself, the location, and the people were all very personable and welcoming. They have beautiful outdoor space. They have an activity director, and I know they do movies twice a day, a matinee and an evening, they have games, crafts, a men's club, a women's club, and they're taking them to a Dodger's game. I did not try their food, but the chef came out and talked to us. The dining area was very nice, very open, and very bright. The staff members were all very nice. They all welcomed and acknowledged us, which was huge.

Brookdale Gardens of Tarzana was the most economical place that we could find. My mother is 100 years old, so she just needs to be taken care of. This was the best fit for all of us. Althoigh they weren't the most beautiful place, it was very nice and the main thing was the people that I met were also very nice and had been there for a long time. Mitch was the person who toured us and he's very, very nice. He followed up with me on everything and asked us to stay for lunch and we did. The food was terrific. They have a respite room that's already set up without having to bring in additional furniture whereas we'd either have to pay for furniture or move my own furniture in with these other places. So, that was another big thing. Then they have gardens, too, a hair salon, game rooms, a T.V. room, and a theater room.

I liked everything about Brookdale South Tarzana. Everything is nice, very light, and open. It has all the amenities, and it has everything my mother possibly needs. The staff are very hardworking, attentive, and have a very wonderful attitude. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and updated. The food is great, and she likes it. She has all day dining; she is able to go anytime she wants. She has been there for a month now. They have typical activities like exercise and movies everyday, live entertainment that comes in three times a week, and every holiday, they have a brunch or some type of get together. They also had a Sunday English tea for them last week. It's very clean and very well maintained.

Everything was perfect at Brookdale South Tarzana, but there was not enough room to walk around outside. They only had a small area for walking, and I do not think they had a parking lot. The apartments are huge and wonderful. They had nice big rooms. I had met a few staff, and they were friendly. The food was OK. It met my standards.

The Gardens of Tarzana is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. This facility feels like home, not an institution or a hotel, like many others. As soon as you walk in, you feel overwhelmingly welcomed. The staff there are so friendly and welcoming. I love that they have longevity in staff and residents. This truly says something about the place. The apartments are spacious. I like that their dining room is bright. They also have a salad bar, too. It's restaurant style and their food is delicious. So many options on their menu. My mom is definitely moving in here!

We had visited The Gardens of Tarzana when we were looking for a facility for my mom. Their rooms are spacious and what I like the most is that they were apartment-type rooms. I know they do have activities, because they send me emails telling me what activities they have.

The Gardens of Tarzana is not a fancy place, but it is a very nice place. It is warm and very homey. The staff is caring and competent. They are very attentive. They are warm and caring. The rooms are a good size. My mom's room is slightly larger than the average room.

We applied for my father to move into The Gardens. I thought it was cheery. They activities for the seniors seemed to be engaging, and that was all very attractive. The food was good. We liked the open kitchen concept where people could have snacks in between meals. The apartments were nice, but the balcony was a little tight for someone in a wheelchair, and the bathroom was also not that great for someone in a wheelchair. The manager and the front desk person were the people we had most interaction with, and the people I had interacted with were very favorable.

We went to The Gardens of Tarzana and it was okay. The people working there seemed nice. The place is kind of gated and I think it needs to be remodeled. If they update it, it would look nice. They seemed to have a lot of activities and their apartments look fine; again they just need to update the place.

Me and my husband visited The Gardens of Tarzana and it's a very nice facility, very cozy. The people were very accommodating, but it's just very expensive. The rooms were very clean and fully furnished. It had a small kitchen and a private bathroom. You could also put in your furniture there to make it feel more homey. They had daily activities. If they want to go out, a bus could take the residents anywhere they want to go. They also had gatherings, games, and exercises every day. It's a very, very nice place. I would surely recommend this to others.

Mom is at The Gardens of Tarzana. The facility is good. She gets a really nice ground floor place and the thing that we really like is that they'll never raise the price for her. The staff is very good. I tried the food and it is fine.

I visited The Gardens of Tarzana and it went fabulous. The place was wonderful, very clean, and has a beautiful surrounding. The rooms were small but adequate. The dining room was gorgeous. There were a lot of activities that cater to older population. Overall, I had no hesitations recommending it to anyone.

Staff here is lovely they are warm, caring and compassionate. They offer assisted and independent living. The rooms are shared or you can ask for private accommodations. The common areas are lovely, they have a nice library and the dining hall is a very nice restaurant style environment. The food menu is well planned with a variety of choices. The residents I spoke with said the food is wonderful and they love living in this facility. They said the staff is wonderful and they can be called all hours of the night if you need them no matter what. The activities are plenty and well attended. They take them out on excursions and have civic and Church groups come and present programs and events. They are a lovely choice it is well run and well maintained. The grounds are well groomed and very beautiful. They do have lovely gardens for sitting and contemplating...worth your consideration.

I visited this facility about a year ago when I was looking for alternate assisted living arrangements for my grandmother. This facility is conveniently located near the Reseda Blvd. exit off the 101 Freeway in Tarzana, California. When I arrived at the facility I was greeted by Celia, the director of sales and marketing. The place seemed clean and very lively with many of the residents taking part in the various social activities. I was shown a couple of the available rooms, which seemed of adequate size for one person, with plenty of closet space. They also had shared rooms which were less expensive but not separated by a wall so you will want to make sure there is good chemistry with your potential roommate before signing up. The fact that they had few vacancies is a good sign. It means that the place is popular and people are staying put rather than moving out. I didn't have time to have a meal here but I saw a nice-size and bright dining room. The cost for this place is in line with the some of the more higher end assisted living facilities in this area. Fees include: rent, utilities (except for cable and telephone), three meals a day, weekly housekeeping, linen service, personal laundry, scheduled transportation, activities, the wellness center and more. It's also close to the Tarzana-Encino Regional Medical Center. Though my grandmother didn't end up moving to this place (mainly because her care requirements changed shortly after my visit) I still would suggest you might want to put it on your list of places to check out.
