I have chosen Atterdag Village of Solvang for my husband. It is five minutes from my house, so I felt that was an asset. They were helpful. They are starting up a daycare program, which will take some of the burden off of me until the room is available to him. I haven't talked to my husband, so one of the nice things is they said that they would come to my house and help me talk to him. They have a one-bedroom, which is nice. It seems satisfactory to me. it's a continuing care community. The facility is very well maintained. They have an indoor pool. It is just a nice environment. They have been very nice. I've had some problems, and they helped me solve them (like opening up their daycare program). It's Monday through Friday from 9:00 in the morning till 5:00 at night. I spoke directly to the administrator, and it sounded like they had lots of activities. They had a daycare program, but they had to shut it down, of course during COVID. My husband is going to be in a memory care unit, but I have some good friends that live in the independent living quarters. They are very nice. They keep them pretty busy. They go on outings. Even the memory care people I know go on outings. They don't let them off the bus, but they take them for drives and touring the beauty of Solvang area. They're very nice. You furnish them the way you want in the independent living, which is nice. They take wonderful care of my friend, who has been there for a couple of years. I felt that with the Covid, they just took fabulous care of them. There were no cases of Covid. My friend said the food is good. They used to go down to L.A. for concerts, Broadway shows, and stuff like that. I would go with them on a bus. They had buses, and it was great. I was allowed to go if they had extra room, and that worked out great. They have a physical fitness center and a swimming pool. They do tai chi and things like that. It seems pretty well served.

Atterdag Village of Solvang is located next to the most charming town in California, so the location is wonderful. It has a very relaxed, easygoing vibe, and it feels like a home. The room was one of the nicest among those we've seen. It has a lot of things, like a warm therapy pool, we've observed exercise classes, the dining room was very nice, and the menus looked good. It just has more of a feeling of a community. There's a lot of space outdoors, the grounds have a Bocce Ball court, and they're still doing a lot of activities. They have busses that take you into town. So overall, I'd say we probably liked that one the best. The person who gave the tour was very kind, informative, knowledgeable, and spent quite a bit of time with us. We actually toured it twice. Tough, because there are a couple of things I'd like to change.

I toured Atterdag Village of Solvang, and it was really nice. The person who gave me the tour was really informative. The facility looked fine. It was just kind of expensive. The rooms were clean and kind of small. They offered three meals a day, they have an aquatic center, a fitness center, different classes, and a lot of stuff. There were some places we couldn't go because of COVID, but we got to go see the apartments.

My mom lived on her own for 7 years and then spent 2 years in the Care Facility. She was treated like a Queen! All the staff looked out for her and she was treated with care and respect. Plus the staff always alerted me and kept me in the loop at all times.

I visited Aterdag and it's great. It's a nice place, and I liked the continuum of care. They have bus rides to places, they have cute little homes, nice little apartments, and a lot of the residents have use of a balcony.

I looked at Atterdag Village of Solvang. I would give it a C because the recreation room was very small and didn't have room for movement. The dining room was not at all appealing since they had plastic tables without tablecloths. The food was OK, though.

Everything at Atterdag Village is really nice. The lady was really excellent. The rooms were nice, and they were in the process of refurbishing some. The meals were great; it looks like they were doing a good job. They had a pool, they go on different trips, different games, and they have meetings and movies. They had pictures that were painted by the residents. They tried to incorporate a lot of talents of the residents, and I thought that was really nice. One thing I didn’t like about them was that the rooms were too far away from everything else.

Atterdag Village is very friendly. They were doing a lot of improvements, construction, and upgrades in their facilities. We saw one apartment which appeared to be smaller than the one in the other community. The people did seem to be very happy and contented. They are all happy with the things going on. They were having a farm day while we were there on a visit. They had a bunch of farm animals, and the people were playing with them. They seemed to be enjoying it. They have a barbecue, and singing and dancing going along with it. We tasted the food, and it was delicious. We rate it as average because of its age. It is a much older place. Overall, the place is very friendly and welcoming.

Atterdag Village of Solvang was very neat and clean, like it had been taken care of. With regards to accommodations, they would remodel everything before you move in. I visited a one-bedroom unit there. The staff was very nice and helpful. I visited for lunch and the food was good; however, not as good as the other facility.

My mother was in the Lutheran Home for about two years. I never wanted her to go to a nursing home but a time came when my husband and I could no longer care for her. It was a very emotion day when we took her. I felt like I'd failed her. A nurse saw my upset and took me aside and told me that I'd done the right thing. Give us two weeks and she'll be just fine and she was! I saw first hand the heart and soul of this place. I saw kindnesses that made me cry. There was laughter there were parties and friendships made. I witnessed nurses and caregivers who cried at the loss of their patients or who would give them hugs or stop to listen. It has been 2 years ago that my mother passed away and I'll always be grateful to the Lutheran Home in Solvang for the wonderful care they gave her... and me!

Atterdag Village has all four levels of care but it does not have mental and Alzheimer's care. Their skilled nursing facility is also the recovering residence for the local hospitals. It's only four blocks away, we can walk over there. They have nice independent living suites as well as assisted living. It's kind of a well-known facility.

I researched this property for myself. I was very impressed with the facility very clean and administrator was very help. I was missing paper work and the marketing director came out to my home. One of the things I really like they offer entry fee this fee is good for life. Facility has three different styles of living residential, assisted, and nursing care. Property has restaurant style dining with white table cloths and menus. In the package they offer 7 trays free a month to have dinner deliver to your room, over 7 trays there is a fee.
