I went to Elim Place. They were my second choice. The executive director was very transparent and forthcoming about the facility and the programming and very passionate about her commitment to the people who live there, and that was obvious in everything she did. It wasn't just a show for me; it seemed very genuine. She gave me a full tour of the facility, so I got to see pretty much how everything worked, and that was good. I saw one of the rooms. The rooms were spacious and very clean. I met a number of the staff, and they seemed to be very positive and the way they interacted with the residents. It was a very loving place. The word love is what comes to mind, more so than anything. It seemed like they were dedicated and committed to these people and they loved them. They have an activities director with regular activities. They have a dining room where you can eat privately with your family member if you want to. I thought that was nice. They have a nice open patio area where the residents can come and go. The day I was there they were doing a physical activity. They were playing ball with the balloons.

Elim's Place is an Alzheimer's facility. The exterior was utterly charming, and the staff seemed universally pleasant. The director was charming, the staff seemed to care about their people. It was clean, it was well appointed, and you could make the rooms for your mom or your dad or your answer your uncle, you could dress them up any way you want to. They didn't restrict you as far as making it like home for your parents. They had a large indoor patio, and that was very nice. People could walk into the indoor patio, and walk out of the patio back into the facility because it's built-in a square around the patio. And then there is a large room with very comfortable chairs. There's an activities director and an activities helper, which is kind of like school nursing and they were all doing stuff. Not all the clients like to participate in things like that, but they were certainly working on stuff when we went through. The exterior of the building was yellow and white, and the grass was green and it just looked charming. Inside, she showed us the bathroom and there are grab bars, and there's a shower room. There's no carpeting, it's all flooring, which is wonderful in my opinion. It just seems clean and spacious for the number of residents there.
