We toured Ansel Park Independent Living. The overall experience was very nice. It's more modern. It was newer, very well-kept, and very nice. I liked the one bedroom. The floor plan of the room has arched ceilings and a ceiling fan. It had a swimming pool, not that that's important to me, but it was nice to know that there was a pool out there, and they keep it heated all year round. It's nice to do exercise and they have classes, so I like that. It was a bit out of my price range but it was understandable because the place was high-end and it's in Rocklin. They had a clubhouse and they had good activities. Things I didn't like about it were they didn't provide internet, which is kind of uncommon, they had a pretty expensive community fee, and the rooms were a little bit out of my price range. Their pet deposit was a bit expensive. I had three dogs, which was no problem, they accepted them, but they wanted a thousand dollars a pet, and I thought that was a bit high. So moving in, you'd have to have a $3,000 community fee and each pet, the second and third pets are half price, but the first one's a thousand, so that's another $2000, and the rent is $4300. It's $10,000 to move in there and then over $4000 a month. They had granite and cherry wood cabinets. It was beautiful. I didn't get a chance to try the food, but the dining room was nice, large, and had beautiful chandeliers. The staff was very professional. She was a bit rushed. It seemed to me when I said that I was maybe a year out and I was still researching, she kind of lost interest and was just kind of rushing me around. I said, "The clubhouse and the pool," and she said, "Yeah, but we can't see it today because they have an event." And then later when we circled and looked in the event there was no one in there. So I thought, well, she probably just didn't want to walk over because it's kind of off the property a little bit, but she just showed us one room and gave us our little brochure and that was about it.

Ansel Park Independent Living was very nice. I walked in and saw my name welcoming me there for the tour. The lady that showed me around was most informative about the amenities. The atmosphere of the place was good. They have the meals, transportation, and housekeeping. While they didn't have a washer and dryer in the room, they do have a hookup so you could bring your own. They got an informal dining area and they got the main dining room, which was set up just like a restaurant. It's a big room with tables for four, and it was very well done. They got the exercise room and the theater. They had a class going on in the fitness room. Otherwise, it's pretty quiet. The grounds were good. It's got a nice setting. It's got the wetlands behind it. It's more of a country atmosphere. There's a lot of open lands, although they're going to build medical offices across the street from their place. The other staff I met in passing said good morning and whatnot.

Ansel Park Independent Living was very attractive. The residents seemed very friendly and outgoing which I like. The staff who gave me the tour was very good. The one thing that stands out to me is that much of the space is taken up with a full-size kitchen, and I don't expect to be doing much cooking. I think a microwave and a small refrigerator are sufficient. It seems to be a waste of space for me. I had dinner there but I wasn't overly enthusiastic about the food.
