My friend goes to South Bay Adult Care Center. It's really awesome, incredibly affordable, and the caregivers are so kind and knowledgeable. They give them free lunch on Thursdays, snacks every day, endless coffee, tea, and anything they want. They walk over to the park and have lunch there, which is on the property. They play games, exercise, and music, and she loves it. They have a fully equipped kitchen that's open early, from 7:30 to 5:30, and it's $8 an hour. Everybody is happy there. The lady in charge is a registered nurse, and she knows how to handle different personalities.

About South Bay Adult Care Center, Inc. in Redondo Beach, California
It is our mission to assist seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, stroke, Parkinson's, or other conditions that cause them to have special needs to stay in their home communities with their families or in other community settings by providing a safe, stimulating social environment outside the home for them to enjoy, while at the same time providing respite for their caregivers.
South Bay Adult Care Center is located at the Anderson Park Senior Center. In keeping with the overall operation of the Senior Center we like to think of South Bay Adult Care Center as a clubhouse.
We endeavor for it to be welcoming and enjoyable for our "members." While we provide for the special needs of our members, the purpose for them should be enjoyment. We are a clubhouse with activities appropriate to our members and extra assistance as necessary.

The coordinator and the staff are creative and caring, always finding new ways to improve the physical strength of the seniors with dementia with exercises and daily outings to the park. They also invite community participation with group singing, crafts, and have youth volunteers. We are worried that the MediCal budget cuts effective November 20 2011 will affect this excellent center's work.

I've had my 92 year old Dad attend South Bay Adult Care Center for 5 years. It has really made a difference in the quality of his life. He suffers from dementia and I truly believe his trips to this day care facility have helped to keep him more alert. The staff, from the manager, to the care givers, to the volunteers are wonderful and caring. They take great care of my Dad. There are lots of daily activities plus special events to keep him interested and more active. If you need a day care center, this is the one to look at in the South Bay. I tried others and was unhappy with the care provided and lack of activities.
