About The Canterbury in Rancho Palos Verdes, California
A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offers residents a maintenance-free lifestyle with several levels of health care options on one campus. You can plan for the future, knowing that most of your health care needs can be met without moving to another community. Couples with different needs don't have to be separated, miles apart. You can still spend quality time together and participate in joint activities. If one of you needs Assisted Living, you can be located in nearby residences and visit regularly.
The Canterbury CCRC has three levels of on-site care:
Independent Living for active people who don't need personal assistance;
Assisted Living for residents who require help with bathing, dressing and other activities of daily living;
Skilled Nursing for residents with chronic health issues or emergency needs.
There are financial benefits to the CCRC choice. It's much easier to control long-term expenses when your health costs are more predictable. It's also less costly than having to pay-as-you-go at prevailing rates.

The Canterbury seemed like a very nice facility. It was in a good location and it had good support services for their clientele. The staff is very kind, showed us around, treated us to dinner in the cafeteria, answered all our questions, and showed us a variety of accommodations that would potentially be available. We looked at 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. They showed us a meeting room, library, music room, and exercise room.

The Canterbury was a very expensive place. The pool was very small and very narrow. The room was of adequate size, but I didn’t like that it had white carpets. The staff was very friendly.

I like The Canterbury. This is the one I selected for myself. It's so close to my house, only 15 minutes from me. All I want is to be somewhere that has nurses and things available so if something happens, they have it. It is run by Episcopal church, which makes it number 1 for me. I'm very happy with it. I also like their reception. I like the way they treat the people. I have put down my deposit. As soon as I'm done selling all my furniture and everything and have sold my house, I would move into it.

It's a beautiful place and it's a great facility. Their staff is amazing. They have movies, field trips, tours, painting classes and bridge classes. Food is excellent. They have beautiful and brand new rooms. I would move there if I was the right age. I would recommend this to my family and friends. Every time a new resident moves in, they take everything out, carpet, appliances, painting. It's beautiful, brand new. Everything is new when you move in. It doesn't matter if the resident lived there for two weeks. They got it out and put in a whole new facility. It's beautiful and the staff is amazing.
