My dad is in Pico De Loro. We were looking for someplace that would be fairly close to where my parents lived so it would be easier for us to get my mother over there to visit. I hadn't toured any of the other places, but at the hospital, they felt that my dad needed more than just a place that was going to where he would have a room, where he could be independent because at the stage he's in, he's not able to be independent. So I went with my brother to visit Pico De Loro. It's an older place, but the people there seemed nice, and so far, he's been getting good care. Hospice has taken over, so they're doing a lot of the care. My dad has been there for a few weeks now. He has dementia, but at this point, he's under hospice care. He's not able to get out of bed or do anything on his own. It's what they call board and care. The people I've met have been very nice, very friendly, and seem to be caring. I haven't seen the food, but they puree his food for him. I know they have good meals. They've invited us to come and have lunch sometimes. From what I've seen, they seem to serve good meals for the other people that are there. This is a relatively small place. For somebody that's a little bit more independent, I don't see that they're doing a lot of activities. It's very limited. They have a TV room, and it looks like they have some kind of a room for games. I don't know what other places cost, but I'm sure this is not as costly. It's nice and it's clean. They do the meals, and they seem to interact with the people there. The staff has been there for quite a while, which is a good sign.

We went to Pico de Loro. When we visited I was a little disappointed because there was no one in the office, and so we stood there for ten minutes or so before somebody came out to assist us. That community was controlled. The people living there were in a room, and an associate was there supervising them. When we were associated with the person who gave us the tour we noticed that it seemed like the one that we were looking for is a young man. He's 64 with dementia, and he was with us, and it was upsetting for him because everyone there looks older and they looked somewhat, I don't know how to describe it, like a zombie type. All of them were pretty much like they were probably medicated. I didn't see a whole lot of activity, and as we toured the place and looked around there were more people sitting out, and no activity actually going on other than in the first room that we entered into, which I am assuming was the activity room. The gal who gave us the tour could not answer the questions I asked. She referred us to a phone number to call and talk to; I believe that's the doctor that's in charge of the place. After touring the facility we were not impressed, and it was not a place where I would want to put my brother-in-law at this time. Quite honestly it appeared to us that it was a place where, when you're in your last stages of life, that would be where you would go. And I guess I wasn't prepared for him having a single bed, sharing a room with another person, sharing a bathroom, and sharing the TV. My suggestions are: one, when a tour is scheduled it would be nice to be greeted by somebody at the front office. And two, to have more information available on what was included in the price that we were told. I was told $1,550 a month, but I had no other information other than you would have to share a room. There were no single rooms available, and that was only from the lady that did the tour.

Pico De Loro didn't feel like the best. The staff was good, but the place was a little bit dated, and you typically will share a room at that location. Personally, it wasn't for me, but there were a lot of residents, and they all seemed quite busy, which was good. When I went for a tour, they kind of weren't expecting me. However, the person who gave the tour was good. She knew exactly where to take me and what to show me. We toured the entire facility and all the grounds, which was nice. The dining area felt like a cafeteria. They work well with income, which is very, very helpful for people like me. It's just I didn't like the facility itself too much. The staff members were great. I spoke with the doctor and some of the nurses. They're really nice.

I visited Pico De Loro. Everything was very nice. I had a lot of resources but the cost was too much. They showed everything, the rooms, the bedding, and the dining areas. I sampled the meal and the food was good. The facility was great. It's very clean. They had very nice and good quality programs for them. The staff was helpful and easygoing.

Pico De Loro is a small place, and I would say the majority of the patients were elderly with dementia. It's a memory care facility. It's kind of an older facility. It's got a nice greenbelt in the back for the patient to walk around. And their smokers were on one side of the greenbelt, and then there was a gazebo. It's very large surrounding the facilities. There was like a grassy area for the patients to go outside and because it is a memory care facility, it's all locked down, so you can't just wander. The rooms were large. There were bathrooms and walk-in showers in every room. There were probably two beds in each room that we saw. It smelt clean. They had a room for games and activities inside. There were a couple of TV rooms. These patients seemed happy. As we toured the facility, they waved to us and said, hi, God bless you. They all seemed content. Some of them were in different stages of dementia or what-have-you. My uncle liked it because it was 20 minutes away from the house and he could visit at any time. The place was quaint and clean and the staff that we met were friendly. The rooms were very large, spacious, and homey. It was a very homey environment, and it was clean. They have showers in the room if you're capable of getting in there and doing it yourself. And if not, they had a walk-in shower in each corridor where the staff could assist in getting the people in there to bathe them with assistance. My uncle saw that the people were content, and the facility was clean. He felt that he could go and visit his wife all day if he wanted to. There would be women there her age. He just got a comforting feeling that she would be happy there because other residents felt contented and happy.

Pico De Loro reminded me of a state-run facility, but I am thankful that there is a place like that for elderly people. It appeared to me that they had their own clinic if you needed medical assistance, so they have a place where they take care of their residents in house. It was an older facility, so I feel it's hard to be fair, but the young lady there was nice and answered questions that I needed and gave us a tour. She did her job. It was clean, but it needs some updating. I liked the size of the rooms. They were much bigger and had a lot of space.

I visited Pico De Loro and I liked the employees' interaction with the workers and the residents. The layout was fine. It was more of an older building. It wasn't more modern, but it was clean and they had everything. I saw their activities with their residents. They have a birdcage and workout equipment. The staff was good. When I went there, they didn't have me on the list, but they got on it. They called who was in charge of the tours, and if it was OK for me to do the tours, and they were nice and helpful with everything. They were communicating with the residents, helping them out with whatever they needed and talking to them.

I toured Pico De Loro, but I knew my mom was not going to be a fit there. It was very, very busy. There were a lot of people there. The person who gave the tour was extremely kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. The apartments were a little older. The time I went, there were so many people there and it was busy. We walked through the dining room and it was fine. There were a lot of people eating. They were comfortably sitting and eating there.

I appreciated that the staff at Pico De Loro were very helpful. The director was very informative. However, the rooms were small, and they had to share rooms. The people in my opinion knew what they were doing and were very informative. They provided all the information that I required, so it was very good. For amenities, that was not too good. The space was kind of limited and there was not very much outdoor space for the clients. They had an outdoor area, but I don't think that the clients would do that. They had a parking lot, but they were not very good for the clients as well. The facility was old, but it was very clean.

I went to Pico De Loro. The facility seemed clean, but the administration didn't seem so caring for the residents. It was supposed to be a memory care facility, but the doors were not locked, and that was one of my concerns because I am looking for an Alzheimer's facility. It looked clean. Obviously, with Alzheimer's, you can have them all watching TV or anything like that. They were entertained with their own activities. The staff was not that friendly, too.

The tour at Pico De Loro was pretty good. It's very small. The doctor was nice. They showed me around and gave me some information, which is great. I just think it wasn't for our fitting. The room is clean but a little outdated. The staff was very nice, informative, helpful, and polite. They have a bunch of games. There's no courtyard for the residents to walk around.

I went on a tour of Pico De Loro for my mom. It's a very small facility, it only accommodates 20 residents. It was kinda stinky like the residents weren't taken care of very well. The room that I saw there was clean. Their staff members weren't ready for us, they didn't know we were coming, so they kinda winged it. The residents weren't doing activities when I was there, though they have activities for them. The person who assisted me during the tour was nice. I would suggest that they need to show more enthusiasm because even after I called the director, the staff said there was no room. There was only one bed and I'd have to go on a waitlist, so it was kind of a mess over there.

Pico De Loro seemed like a safe place. The place was small, but it looked pretty clean to me. It didn't smell or anything like that. They had an outdoor area that I could see through the window and that's where they take the residents, too. The room I saw had two beds in it and a dresser. It's two people in a room, and each has a closet then a shared bathroom. It was also very clean. I just felt like I didn't have all my questions answered by the lady who did the tour.

The amenities at Pico De Loro that could be used were like you would find at the library; they didn't really have much. I didn't see any activities going on. They just said that they would get them together for game nights and watching TV, and that was about it. The staff was good; they were helpful and very cordial. I mainly dealt with the facility director, and she was really nice. The facility itself seems kind of old and worn down overall. They could improve on the outside. They had sort of a second area in the back where they put their junk. It was gated off, but there were residents walking around. There was sort of a fountain or a pond area, but it was not looking good.

DON’T send your loved ones here! The person in charge is a joke!!! We tried to remove my uncle and he called us yelling at us. Trying sabotage us from taking him to his new facility!! Dr Rillo is very unprofessional!!!! Refusing to let us talk to my uncle on the phone. Refusing to let hospice come in and care for my uncle. I will never ever recommend this facility to anyone. DON’T go here.

My mom is at Pico De Loro and I think it's pretty good. They treat her really good and cook her whatever she wants. She seems happy. It's a pretty nice and clean place for the price. The staff is really nice to her and they do her hair every morning. The food smelled great and looked really good.

Mom has only been here 6 days and has settled in so well. She has made friends and responded to the consistency of scheduling well. Her skin is already back to normal in less than a week. They are so kind and patient. I feel lucky to have found them.

The staff at Pico De Loro was friendly and great, but I would never take my mom there. As the woman was taking me around, there were residents lying face-down on sofas in the hall. It was very dreary. It felt like you were walking through the homeless section of some city. It was a big place and not at all what I was looking for. It was terrible.

My least favorite was Pico De Loro. It was rundown, and it smelled. My first impression was that it was dirty, and there were no residents to be seen. There were stains, and it smelled like urine. When we walked around, all the residents were smooshed into one small room on these beds like they never got out of beds. Maybe there was 2 staff members that we saw the whole entire time. The whole place was dark. They need to clean the place up. The rooms were tiny, and they were like hospital rooms. They do not look like residential rooms.

My husband moved in last Wednesday at Pico De Loro. I kind of like the place, considerably the space is bigger than other place, and the price seems reasonable; that’s why I chose it. It’s clean, and the location is OK -- about 10 miles up from my house.

I think living in Pico De Loro works for my mom. Everything is pretty nice and clean. She came from a place that charged a lot of money, and this one is more affordable. She is happier and gets more services than before. They are taking better care of her. She is OK with the food, and they take them out to lunch every couple of weeks.

My loved one is at Pico de Loro. I liked the fact that it’s a closed community and that they're able to take care of his needs. What we need is memory care, which they are able to provide. He has Alzheimer’s, and he’s a wanderer. They have exercises and special outings where they’re watched like hawks. They do arts and crafts and things to help them at least with their motor development and, in his case, he likes to build model airplanes, so that works out really well. The rooms are large and completely furnished. I don’t have to buy comforters for him anymore because they provide them. Right now, I’m going to give them a 4 because I haven’t been able to get out there to physically look at it, but I feel pretty comfortable with it. I talk to them probably every week or every 10 days to get updates.
