I visited this facility

The Oaks at Paso Robles looked very modern, very clean, and attractive. The staff who gave the tour was very helpful. They had a room where they had a lot of arts and crafts and that sort of thing, but we didn't see any of that happening.

I like the option for rooms in The Oaks at Paso Robles. There was a suite where you shared a bathroom, but you had your own bed. They also had the option for private. I liked that there was an RN on staff 24 hours a day. That made it seem like there was more safety for the residents if something should come up. They're not that far from an EMT or anything like that because they are in a town, but it was still nice to have a nurse on staff. The staff was very informative. I toured with Emily and she answered all the questions that I had. She was able to show us the general area where people did arts and crafts, the area where they dined together, and even the cleaning staff area was part of the tour. It seemed like it was all-inclusive, like they were showing everything and it was nice, clean, and bright. There was even a courtyard that the memory care residents could go out to. So, there wouldn't be a worry that they would go out the front door. When we got there, they had just cleaned up from lunch and they were getting ready to have a birthday party for one of the residents. A family had brought in a cake, balloons, and flowers. That was kind of cool. I would feel very comfortable having my husband live there. Emily was very forthcoming with the tour of the facility. It wasn't like she was trying to steer me away from certain areas or anything like that. It felt very honest and truthful.

The Oaks at Paso Robles was a nice facility. The staff was young and a little bit undertrained. The building was fine. It's a brand-new building, so they kept it up pretty well. Mom was in the memory care and they have the typical amenities. They have bingo, they play games and puzzles, and they have activities. Just the general activities for seniors to keep them busy. So, that's a good thing. It's just ridiculously expensive and we are getting better service now at another facility for less than half of the amount of money that we would be paying at the Oaks.

I toured The Oaks at Paso Robles. It's a beautiful place. It's very well put together. It seems like you're at a resort. I felt like I was at a resort. The only problem is it's built on a hillside, so there's no there's no outside grounds. It's just dirt. There's no landscaping. So, if you were a person that liked to go outside, this isn't the place. But if you're having memory care probably it would be fine. It's new, so it's very nice. I like the rooms very much. While I was visiting them, I never saw any caregivers. I just thought that was so weird. I didn't see anybody rushing to a room or, it was like you were in an empty hotel. And just in a few of the public areas were some of the people, like they might be eating a snack or playing some cards or something. The staff was very nice, I met the chef, and everybody seemed to be very nice and outgoing.

I've called this place tree times to get information and I've yet to receive a call back. Asked for rates and the lady on the phone stated she didn't have that information, { if she doesn't know information, why is she answering the phone.) Not impressed.

The people at The Oaks at Paso Robles are all very professional and very courteous. My mom's happy with the food. It's great. The accommodations are good as well as their security. They check on them frequently, to make sure that they're okay. The place is very clean and very well kept. The dining areas are very nice. The chairs are padded and they have good dining service. My mom's room is good. It's a one-bedroom and it's brand new. It has high ceilings and it's quiet. She's quite happy with it. They have a whole list of activities that they do. There's bingo, wine nights (where they drink wine and socialize), exercise classes, puzzle time classes, movies every night in the great big room, sewing, shopping trips, daily newspaper delivered to them, dominoes, church, and a chapel.

I visited this facility

We visited The Oaks at Paso Robles, it's very modern and kind of fancy. There are no natural surroundings, they seem more artificial. During the tour, the staff was friendly and informative. They had everything that the other place I toured had, they had a restaurant, an activity room, and a theater. What I like least is that everything's spread out. It's a long building and the dining room is too spread out, depending on where the resident would live.

The Oaks at Paso Robles was beautiful. It was so well designed and brand new. The rooms were lovely. Everything they had was very, very nice. We saw every kind of room there was. We saw several different areas, and they all were nice. There was nothing wrong with them at all. Unfortunately, the staff would not discuss finances with us at all. I would give them a very, very big ding for that. It left a big hole. What we saw was lovely and what they offered was lovely; but when it came to asking about how much a certain thing costs, she said, "Well, I'm sorry, I just don't have that information." It destroyed everything because we have to know how much it would be costing us. She said, "I don't know it. I don't know how much it would be." I thought that was very poorly done. She was very nice. I had nothing against the staff. However, she said a few things and my husband wasn't very impressed at all with her because she mentioned about our home. She said, "I know you're leaving your home, but all of this is wood and mortar," and that isn't what our home is. Our home is our home where we live right now, and it's lovely. I think that that comment comparing our home to what they have there was poor. A person that has a home loves their home, so that was not a very good thing to say. They showed us the menu. We saw the dining room, but we did not have food there. It was lovely, more like a restaurant. The apartment was wonderful. Anything to do with the building and the decor was just simply lovely. I could have signed my name that day, except for the fact that I didn't know how much it was going to cost me and they wouldn't tell me. It was a waste of time. Their bathroom facility was so wonderful and easy to get around. Aside from being very pretty, it was very accessible to somebody that's in a wheelchair or has a walker. They had a lovely kitchenette. They didn't have exactly a table, but they had a place where you could sit down and eat the food you're having. The only problem was the cupboard was high up, and that's sometimes hard for seniors. The rooms were very, very nice and laid out nice. There were lots of storage. It was beautiful. They had a patio area where you could sit. The outside was nice.
