I've seen Segovia at Palm Desert and it was very nice. I was visiting my great uncle there, and it's really a fabulous place. He was in the assisted living unit, and the place was literally like a country club. The food was excellent. I've had meals there several times. It was almost like going to a very nice restaurant. It was very, very close to that. They had a workout facility, a series of mailboxes inside (so that you didn't have to go out front to get your mail), on-call services for anything that you needed or wanted, movie nights, and events going on all the time. They also had a private room where you could have individual parties and a bar area that wasn't open all the time, but it could be open for different events. They had the best staff I've ever seen. They were like people in a hotel. If I came in to visit my great uncle, there was a process where I would have to sign in. They would give him a call and say that someone was here, just to make sure there's no stranger wandering and asking for somebody. I just liked everything about it. It's the gold standard.

Oakmont of Segovia was very, very expensive. You have to give in, depending on the size of your apartment, between three hundred and fifty thousand to seven hundred thousand dollars cash up front. That's a lot of money for me to lose interest on. They return it to you or your state when you leave one way or another, with less than a ten percent service fee. The monthly rent also ranges between $3,500 and $7,000 a month, depending upon the size of the apartment you have. They have huge apartments, they have a three bedroom with den, fireplace, and double terraces. It's like people don't want to get rid of one piece of furniture, so you're paying a lot of money each month. You can double that because of the interest you're losing on the money you have to give them. Now, I understand this is not an unusual practice, but it's an expensive and damaging practice as far as I'm concerned, and I told them, I think I wrote a note to them, I said that you're a little too pricey for me. The amenities were quite sumptuous. They mix independent living with assisted living, with people who need care. The folks I saw while walking around, it was just depressing. I mean, when you become a senior citizen, you don't want to be reminded that for the grace of God there go I, that you see no young people, that you see and all you hear all day long are complaints. I can't get up, I can't sit down, I can't do this, I can't do that. So I think companies that are offering independent living should really consider what independent living means. It was immaculate, they have extensive grounds, they have a swimming pool, they have a gym. In addition to the arts and crafts room, they have a music room, a small auditorium, a beauty salon for the ladies, and a magnificent dining room. It was just breathtaking.

Oakmont of Segovia is very nice. The building is very nice. Their dining room is spectacular. It's a really, really nice, but I don't think my long-term care policy is going to pay that much. The units were larger than the other facilities that I visited. They're like full apartments. They are just that much nicer than anything else I saw. They even have golf, and they do more than anything else I've seen. They have available transportation. Of the ones that I've seen, Oakmont of Segovia is the nicest. They seem to have everything you want. They have classes that you can take for different things, and they have a little art studio. It's very nice. They have all nice things. The residences were bigger and very nicely appointed. I have a good friend that lives in one of them and he even has a fireplace in the living room. There is a little dining area, a full kitchen, and a full-size refrigerator.

My mom is staying at Oakmont of Segovia. It's been good, and the place is beautiful. They have a pool, a theater, weight rooms, and a dining room. The staff seem quite good. She likes the food, but she's also getting weary of it. I think no matter where you live, that type of food becomes tiring after awhile. But the food is good; I actually like eating there. There hadn't been any activities, but they've opened the pool again so she's been doing that. I know there are some exercise classes, and they've also reopened the theater.

Segovia is excellent. Overall, it looks like a quality place, and the food is very good. It is a very good-looking place. The apartments are nice. The amenities are very nice. The staff who assisted me was excellent and very knowledgeable. However, it is very expensive.

We ended up in Segovia. It is absolutely modern, and so far it is wonderful; it really is. It is way upscale, and it is expensive, but worth every bit of it. It is terrific. The staff is excellent. They are very helpful and very friendly. The dining room is terrific, and it is like living in a 5-star hotel. They have everything you could think of. They have activities, physical fitness, classes, and lectures. They have a movie theater, and they are showing old movies -- 2 films every day. They have beautiful outdoor swimming facilities and Jacuzzis.

Segovia is very nice. I have a lovely apartment, and everything is included. It's a big place with 120 apartments. They have a beautiful dining room and two small dining rooms. My apartment has a marvelous size. The place is very beautiful and well maintained. They clean my apartment once a week with fresh linens every week. The food is good and served three times a day. They have studios, one-bedroom apartments, and two-bedroom apartments in various sizes. The staff is delightful.

Segovia is a very nice place. My parents are currently residing there. It has very good living environment. The location for us is convenient. My sister lives a mile from this facility and also works like two blocks away, so it was something close for her to keep an eye on them. My parents have a room that is spacious enough for both of them. Their staff is excellent and they're very accommodating and very attentive to my parents. The one thing I had problem with this facility was that, for the two of them, there is $1500 a month for their food. If they spent $1100, they're still charged the $1500. However, if they go over the $1500, they still had to pay for the excess.

Segovia is located in a very busy area which I didn't think I would like but once you get in, you don't hear any of that noise. The whole place was just extremely spacious and extremely elegant. It was mostly for the very wealthy people. It was a fairly new facility that took care of everything for you. You can get any size apartment and if you have a car, they offered a separate garage. There was a movie theatre for the residents. They also had exercises classes and day trips and speakers would come in and talk on different subjects. I had lunch at Segovia with a friend and I had nothing bad to say about the lunch. It was a very luxurious and very lovely place.
