My dad moved into assisted living at Canterbury Woods - Pacific Grove. It looks very nice. He knows several people who currently live there and he's able to work out a deal where his current home health aide can continue to be his aide there. The dining staff and director were very helpful and nice to work with. The food looks fine. There seemed to be quite a few activities, like lectures and discussion groups. My dad has struggled a couple of times recovering from pneumonia and they have on-site skilled nursing so he can move from his apartment into that long enough to recover and back to his apartment without going into a different facility. They have a large facility where they do exercises and lectures.

Canterbury Woods would not be for me because everything was too close. It used to be a beautiful mansion, and they tore it down. Their chalets which would interest me were right by the street, so you have the noise of the street. I would not ever go there even though the food was good and the service was nice. They kept building and building. The staff was very nice. I was invited to lunch and the chef was there in person and our group was served excellently with excellent food. The facility was not open and not inviting to me, but it was clean. It's a little tight and a little on the dark side.

Canterbury Woods was very nice. We saw a studio, a 1-bedroom, and a 2-bedroom. If we were seriously considering Canterbury Woods, the rooms would not have been big enough for us. We saw their dining room. It was very good. The staff was very gracious. The residents were quite happy too. I would recommend it and would consider it for the future.

Canterbury Woods is spectacular. This is the place to go. They could not take my friend, because he has memory issues. If your memory gets worse while you’re there, then that’s okay, but if you have memory issues to start with, they won’t take you in. But it is a great place, a beautiful place. They have good people, and they have all levels of care. They have a grand piano in this big room where they play music, and that was a really impressive place too. The facility is clean and pretty. It’s so nice for the residents to be able to go out in the garden and be with the flowers and the grass. The landscape is spectacular.

We were not so excited with Canterbury Woods because it looked so crowded and didn't have privacy. It is a beautiful place, but it is not for me. The staff is perfect and very good. It looked like the people who live there were happy. We have different criteria for choosing the facility we want. It being crowded means it must be a popular and beautiful place, but for my personal criteria, I do not like that it is crowded.

Canterbury woods have depressing, dark, and non-private apartments. The staff’s work ethics are good. The rooms are small and the service is poor. The food is nothing exceptional. They have card playing and games. Abetter assisted living with more staffing is needed.

Canterbury Woods is very nice but so expensive. The rooms were nice too. The place is up on the hill so you can see Monterey Bay. The neighborhood is gorgeous. The area is private. The residents that we spoke to thought the staff is great. If they’re interested in the central coast I would definitely recommend this.
