Oakmont of Riverpark is very nice and clean. They are very caring and attentive, and they take good care of my mom. She has a super nice apartment. It's all brand new. It's air-conditioned with a nice window and good views. The food is excellent. They have a chef for three meals a day and if you get hungry outside of meal times, they can make you whatever you want. They have room service where you can get private mail and packages delivered to your room. They have a full-time receptionist and a gated front door so they check everybody who is coming in and out of the facility. They provide help with bathing and getting dressed. They also have an onsite handyman that helps with their TVs and anything that they want to hook up and a private driver. The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable. They have all kinds of activities every week that are geared towards what my mom's needs. Everything's just kept perfectly. It's always clean and well done.

My mom was at Oakmont of Riverpark. She fell seven times and had a fracture and nobody called me about it. A few staff seemed very disinterested in their job and uncompassionate according to my mother and from my observation, but some were amazing. I would say the staff was indifferent. The facility was very clean. The rooms were nice. The carpet in the rooms was a little grabby on the feet for someone who might have balance problems. Safety precautions were not taken. They sold the community that their chef was from the Four Seasons in Santa Barbara. The food was good, but they didn't have a lot of options. In the assisted living, when I ate there, it was good. But my mom did not eat well when she was there. She lost a lot of weight because they did not have options in memory care, and it was very bland. When we first moved in, the activity director had just come back from medical leave, so she was kind of out of the loop a little bit. But once she got a couple of assistance, the activities were good. They had an outing every Sunday. They would take them out in a van and go sightseeing. They would have activities during the day.

The staff at Oakmont of Riverpark gave me a tour of assisted living and memory care. It was a pleasant experience. The facilities would serve most needs that my mother may have. The director who showed me around was very knowledgeable and very affable. We got along well. He answered all my questions and gave me a complete package, so I could make determinations on what would be best for my mother. He even gave me some resources that I could pursue that might be able to help us out financially. Their dining room was almost like a fine dining experience. It was like a nice restaurant. They have quite an adequate staff. Their memory care was a controlled environment to protect the clients from wandering away or hurting themselves or things like that. Their 24-hour care seemed to be very good. It would have been a little bit of a push financially for our family to afford that. We could have, but it would have been difficult. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, caring, and well-trained. They have a well-known executive chef and I'm quite sure the food was very good.

We have toured Oakmont of Riverpark. We liked it a lot and so we have already reserved a room there for my grandma. It was very clean, and it was beautiful. It looked like a hotel on the inside. The room that I saw, they called it the olive model, and it's like two studios that are joined by the entrance and then it branches off into two separate rooms. It was very spacious. The bathroom was very large. Most of the rooms have really good views. The one that we are reserving for my grandma has a view of the courtyard, which is pretty with lots of flowers. As far as maintenance and upkeep, it was all very clean and well taken care of. They said that they clean each room from top to bottom once a week for the residents, and I saw them doing that when I was there. One thing that sort of stood out to me is that they have like a little kind of memory box window in front of each room. Each resident can put their personal belongings and pictures, and it kind of gives you an idea and get to know people by what their interests are. If the person can't quite remember their room number like if they forget what the room number is, they can walk by and they see all their stuff there and they realize that's their room. I thought it was kind of a neat little addition to help them remember which one was theirs. Everyone is very friendly, outgoing, and welcoming. Everything seems very brand new and clean. Everyone was very professional. They have a lounge there; it's not on the memory care side. But they have a lounge where people can go and watch sports and have a drink and have their family come over, which was nice. They have like a private dining room on the memory care side. If you wanted to celebrate a birthday, you can reserve it, so that way you can have your family there and you're all together in a private dining room, which I thought was very thoughtful.

Oakmont of Riverpark is very open and has a very caring environment. What I like about it is that they, the team members, basically will take an individual and team them up with another patient. They find somebody that the patient can equally communicate with and then team them up together in various entertainment things, breakfast, and so on, so they have somebody to talk to and communicate with. I toured the assisted living and the staff was great. They answered all of my questions. Any question I had, they were willing to spend the time with me and show me. The room I saw that my mom is going to start with is a shared room. It is quite open, has one window, they have a bathroom of their own, and it's very upscale and newer. The dining area looked open, got lots of windows in it, and the food looked great. There are several entrees to choose from, and they will care for individual needs if they can.

The tour we had with Oakmont of Riverpark was amazing. The people were friendly, professional, and thorough. The grounds were gorgeous, the rooms were larger, it's about the same price as the previous assisted living that I had my mom in, and it's even closer to my home. My mom is taking a studio there, and it's bigger than the studio she's in now. The place is only two years old. It's brand new, larger, and gorgeous. They have an exercise room, a huge dining room, a snack bar, a four-o'clock cocktail lounge, a movie theater, and so much more. It's really an amazing facility. Right now only two people are allowed to visit her; eventually we will be able to add more. I haven't tried the food yet, but I know that their chef worked with a master chef for many years.
