We went to The Redwoods. I thought the place was very clean. Everyone was very happy. It smelled good. It was in a beautiful setting where people take walks out along the bay. From some of the rooms, you can see the water, and the estuary, and there are birds walking and dogs. It's right across the street from a grocery store and it has a direct traffic light to help people that can still walk across the street on their own and help them go there. It's in a really cute town. Every hour, there's something different to do, whether painting, yoga, a speaker coming, or different classes, so it keeps people involved. The people that greet you are very nice. I was really happy with it. It's just extensive. I've been several times to friends' parents and we bring our dogs there to visit the people. The food was very good. They do a lot of political stuff outside, which I like. If there's something that they want to have passed, maybe some funding for education, they sit on the corner and put on their banners. They're very lively and very involved. They're active people. They're not just sitting in a room. Pricing was medium to high. If you think that's where you want a parent to go, you should register way in advance.

We moved my relative to The Redwoods yesterday, which will hopefully be her home for the rest of her life. We chose The Redwoods because of the location, quality of care, and price. Her room is a large studio with refrigerator, a microwave, and an area to make coffee or meals. It opens on one side to an interior corridor, and on the other side it opens to a large patio, and it's landscaped. It has several levels. She's always doing better than we expected. She just got nominal care at this time, probably just laundry for a while. She has assisted living, but you get to choose the level of care. So far they have been excellent. The facility has been located in her community for 47 years with very high ratings for the staff. Very efficient. We understand that the meals are quite good, that's not really a high priority for her, so we did not base our decisions on the meals. It's very light and very airy. It has extremely high ceilings. It does not really feel like an assisted living facility, as much as it feels like a kind of a garden apartment setting. It doesn't feel like a hospital or assisted living.

I visited The Redwoods with my son. Everyone raved about it, but it was $2000 more, and the people weren't very pleasant to deal with. The place was dingy. The apartments they offered were very dingy, dark and grim in my opinion. I don't know why everyone raved about that place. The grounds were very nice. They had a garden and a walking path. It is situated right by the edge of the bay, so it is nicely located. The staff was very young, which was fine, but they don't call you back and there is no follow-up. It was very difficult to get through with them at the beginning. I had to pull some teeth and get them to respond to my calls.

Frankly, I don't want more people to get on the waiting list of The Redwoods because I really like it. Their facilities are lovely, there's a safe way across the way, and it's surrounded by field of flowers. It's also built on wood, which fits the areas perfectly. They have big rooms where everybody can congregate, and they have a place for seeing moves and lectures. They probably have the largest list of things to do and places to go among everywhere I've visited or seen. The person who helped me with the tour did the best that she could, but she only arrived there two months ago, so I still have unanswered questions.

The Redwoods was a beautiful place. The staff was amazing. There were tons of activities to do, and it was in a convenient location. We saw a studio. It was nice, it had a balcony, but it didn't have a kitchenette. They have an exercise room where the residents do exercises and yoga. They also have a garden.

The Redwoods was in a good location because it's only a few minutes from where my family lives. It seemed rundown to me, so I wasn't too impressed. I saw a very small room. The people seemed happy, though.

The Redwoods Retirement is a bigger retirement community. The elderly people there seemed more lively with a lot of activities to do, which was the best part of it.

We visited The Redwoods. The rooms are about 500 sq. ft. apartments. They're all being renovated and they're very nicely appointed. The facility has everything anybody would want. There are lots of activities, guest speakers, and classes so there's a lot of enrichment. The staff is all very nice and most of them are not long-term employees. They are very compassionate and they're friendly. They serve three meals a day and the food looks very good. It was a pleasant environment.

Redwoods has a very high reputation. I think the facility is very well thought of and we don't live very far from it. The rooms are dark and small and I feel claustrophobic. I'm looking for places that are roomier.

The atmosphere was really cheerful. The provider didn't hold that strong of a presence, instead just running the show behind the scenes and helping people who needed it. The residents fell into a pretty wide range of ages, but it seemed that independence was important. The location and facilities were beautiful, being directly across from the bay and in a beautiful town, that being Mill Valley. The residents seemed cheerful and the ones who were disabled were actually present, meaning that the staff is making an effort to provide them with entertainment and keep them happy. The people at the redwoods are very active parts in the Mill Valley community and can often be seen protesting political causes or taking part in community events. The homes were separated and attractive. This was wildly different from the place where my great grandmother lived, which was a nursing home and very controlling. The people were a little more abandoned here, and the place had more of a factory feel then the others. Overall the Redwoods was more of a community than a home and the residents seemed more happy than any other senior community I have ever seen.

The Redwoods is quality living which attracts stimulating residents including social and political movers and shakers, artists and writers . The quality is in the staff and their commitment to the residents active life styles as well as their care. From independent living to health care residents are able to remain surrounded by their friends. I look forward to my weekly visits.

My grandmother lived in The Redwoods for many years, and today many of my friends' parents reside there. It's a very special graduated assisted living facility that meets all residents' needs, from completely independent apartments through fully assisted living with hospital care. Run by the Episcopal Church of Mill Valley, it's also affordable and the staff is dedicated. They have the support of many volunteers, who come to visit and assist with activities. I would highly recommend this facility, the only downside is that I believe there's a long wait list to get in, so if you have an older relative in Marin who hopes to live there, they need to get on the list.
