I can not thank Martin enough for the compassionate and kind care that he provided for my mother’s partner “John”. We were in a dire situation and needed to make the difficult decision to place her partner somewhere that met his physical and mental needs. Not only was he provided a safe and clean home, but given the dignity he deserved. Carla (the house manager) is worth her weight in gold. Dementia is a cruel disease and so many times people suffering through it are dismissed or overlooked. Carla would go above and beyond to make our loved one feel heard and cared for. The house is bright and clean. It feels like a home rather than a facility. Our whole family is so grateful that we found a place the offers dignified care. Thanks to Martin, Carla, and everyone at Golden Eden. They are an example of how all care homes should be run.

We toured Golden Eden III. I like the location of it. The facility itself seemed very nice. However, after viewing the other facility yesterday, they would not have the level of care and activities for my father-in-law. I like the actual facility; I just don't think it's going to be a fit for what we want for my father-in-law. The staff we spoke with was kind. She gave us a nice tour, she seemed to know the facility, and she was able to explain how they run it and what they offer for the patients. It was set up like a home. They do not have like a gym or some of the other areas that the larger memory care facilities would have. The rooms were nice. They seemed adequate in size. They were all private rooms. The place seemed to be well-kept.

My in-laws are staying in Golden Eden III. The experience has been very good. They have settled very well, surprisingly, and the house manager is always available. She bends over backwards to help us whenever we need it. There's very good communication and they're very willing to help us in the paperwork and everything, because it was very stressful getting them in there. It would be two months at the end of this month now that they have been staying there. We had caregivers in the house taking care of my mother-in-law, who was kind of immobile, but then my father-in-law fell and fractured his hip in February, so when he came back, he was immobile as well. It was just too much for the caregivers. We were having to keep them most of the time, especially him in bed, because we only had one caregiver at a time. They're getting much better care at Golden Eden than they would have at their own home. My father-in-law is slipping into dementia unfortunately. He tells us, 'Oh, the food's terrible,' but he says that about even his own wife cooking for years. They eat very well. They eat three meals a day and don't skip a meal. The facility is very clean and very organized. The focus is on the patients, but everything else is really well cared for and well kept up. The house manager treats them almost like her own parents. She's very, very kind. We are paying almost $10,000 a month, but we're literally paying more than that when we were trying to pay for the caregivers and it wasn't even 24-hour care. So, they're getting 24-hour care, they're getting showered and bathed on a regular basis, all their meds are taken care of, there's three meals a day, and they get to be with other people. It's expensive without a doubt, but it is worth it for what they do for them.

My dad is a resident of Nonno's Guest Home. They're great and they're fantastic. He loves how comfortable he is there. They give very good one-on-one care. The staff is always there for him and she lets me know if there is anything that my dad needs or any concerns, so they're really good about that. It is clean and quiet. It's very down-to-earth and homey, and the guests seem very comfortable there, too. Right now, because my dad is recovering from a stroke, they take him for walks with his walker, and they have the people go into the common room. I know the caregivers have conversations with him, and he feels comfortable talking with them. He has a physical therapist come in, too. He loves the food, he thinks he is getting too much food though. He has his own room, he has a TV, and they are delivering meals right now. I know he is happy there, so that's a big part of it. I want him to be safe, and I feel very comfortable with him being there and he feels comfortable being there, so that's huge. I think for the value, it's worth it for what he is getting.

My dad was in Nonno's Guest Home. Unfortunately, he was only there a short while. He went into hospice and he was only there a few days. My sister and myself were very happy with the atmosphere and the helpfulness of the caregivers there trying to make him comfortable, trying to understand what his wishes were, what his interests were, what kind of food he likes, and trying to get the food he likes to make him more comfortable. Definitely the caregiver we dealt with the most, she was very compassionate and supportive, which made it easier for myself and more so made my sister more comfortable with the whole environment. This was hospice care. My dad was just not doing too good, so he transitioned out of the hospital to this place for hospice. It was just to help with day-to-day activities. They're helping him eat, with bathing if necessary and the restroom and all that. The lady we worked with was really responsive. She was very helpful. We were easily able to get in contact with her if we had any questions, so we were quite happy with that. My dad didn't really eat that much while he was there, but the food looked very good. They went out of their way to try to make him some meals that he would enjoy, he was just not in the state where he had the appetite we had hoped he would have. He wasn't really in the position to involve himself in activities, too. He was sleeping a lot in bed. He wasn't there long enough to partake in activities. The facility was very nice, clean and not cluttered.

My mom has been in Nonno's Guest Home for a year and a half now. Prior to her moving to Nonno's, she was in memory care at an assisted living facility and there is no comparison. I wish I had moved her a long time ago. The staff knows my mom. If there's something that's a little different, they'll let me know and they'll contact the nurse practitioner and it gets taken care of right away. I just wished that I had moved my mom sooner. The staff members are great, especially the head caregiver, she is great. She is just very caring and she pays attention. The living atmosphere is very nice and very homey. It's board and care so they have different types of people, but it seems to have more people with memory issues. My mom has dementia, so she is not always coherent in the real world. Because of Covid, we haven't been able to be inside the house. Prior to that, the caregivers would interact with my mom and they have people coming in to entertain. They have a couple of young women, I guess, college students, doing volunteer work. They come in and entertain whatever residents were able to be entertained. Prior to Covid, they had activities. The facility doesn't have a smell, and the food always looks good. My mom eats it, so i'm assuming it's good. Also we're paying less than what we used to pay at the other memory care place, and we're getting a better service.

My mom was at Nonno's Guest Home for five years. It's great. We were very happy with everything there. The staff was wonderful. They were great. My mom's room was very comfortable and very nice. We were just really happy. It was a very warm caring place. She received a lot of care. She seemed comfortable there. It was a nice experience when we went there to visit. We're happy with it. There weren't a lot of activities, but they had somebody come in once a week who work with them at the table and they played games. We were very happy when we found this place. Having compared to other places, this was just so much better. It didn't have a bad smell. It was just really good.

My mom was a resident of Nonno's Guest Home. She passed away in April. She had advanced Alzheimer's. Nonno's Guest Home was good. It was a lot better than the big places we looked at. We first tried keeping her at home but my dad wasn't getting any sleep, so we determined we had to find a place for her. My mom was a fall risk, so I felt like if she was in a big place, she might end up on the floor and nobody would notice for quite a long time. At that point also, my mom really wanted to move around a lot, and at Nonno's, they let her scoot around in her wheelchair. I just feel like it was really important to have the right ratio of staff to residents, which is a big plus to being there at Nonno's Guest Home. Nonno's Guest Home didn't advertise a lot of activities; however, they did seasonal things. They had special meals and they made a big deal about birthdays. There were a lot of seasonal decorations where they get the residents involved if they're able to help with decorations. Also simple things like coloring with them or if they want to get their nails done, they'll do their nails. My mom was kind of combative initially. She was that way at home, i.e., she was fighting with my dad, and she was fighting with the caregivers. That continued on for a while at Nonno's Guest Home until she got into another phase of Alzheimer's. With that in mind, it didn't seem feasible to be sending her off on an activity place because they would have a hard time managing that if they were trying to be doing things with the residents. They had some ladies that volunteered periodically to come in and sing classic songs for the residents and they would sing along if they wanted to. It was kind of fun to them. My mom needed Alzheimer's care the whole time she was there. She wasn't really able to care for herself because, shortly about the time she started staying there, she got to where she couldn't really get up and down on her own without a lot of assistance. She definitely needed a higher level of care with a lot of the daily activities. Also she was only able to feed herself for quite awhile. The staff is amazing and got so much energy, and I feel like she has a really great heart for the residents. She has been there for a long time. I don't know which other caregivers they still have right now, but they have a number of them that they had for quite a while. I know one lady that is working nights now. She is actually one of my parents' in-home caregivers and she is really sweet. One other thing we like at Nonno's is that they hire people that don't have a really strong accent because my mom had a hard enough time understanding what people were saying without an accent. Also they went out of their way to make sure she was safe and they addressed any issues that came up quickly. I don't have a whole lot to compare it to, but comparing it to big places, I would give it a 5. They're so much better than the larger places for the most part because of the ratio of the staff, and the ability to maybe give a little bit more personalized care and be aware of what each resident needs.

My husband was a resident of Nonno's Guest Home. It was wonderful and they did a great job. I like the setting because it was more like in a home than a regular nursing home. It was more like family living together. My husband had his own room. They also engaged him in activities. They had a TV, and a group of women came in and sang. There were different things that they did throughout the day. They took him on walks, but he was in a wheelchair of course. The staff was wonderful. They're very caring, nurturing, and were just really pleasant to deal with. They're very inviting because I was there a lot. The living atmosphere was very nice and very clean. My husband got showers every day. It was just like your own home. I would say the first week, it took some adjustment. My husband couldn't talk anymore because he had early onset of Alzheimer's. He was 57 when he passed. He was there a day shy of two years. He never had a bed sore ever. They bathed him every day. The home environment was very clean. They mopped the floors and cleaned every day. I was able to come in whenever I wanted; it doesn't matter what time of day. I got to stay in his room if I needed to especially when he was dying, and I had to bring things in there. It was great. It was a really great environment. The staff was great. I thought the food was pretty good. The price was pretty good, too.
