I wish that I could give this place negative stars. The supervisor, Charlene, is unprofessional and incompetent of her title. She released my dad without contacting any of his family and now we have now idea where he is at. When asked about the situation, she talked to my family as if it was our fault. We trusted this facility with my dad's care and they failed us. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND CARELESS STAFF

My father was discharged from AV Hospital to recover at Lancaster Health Care on a temporary basis. I did my due diligence and reviewed their facility ratings, nurse to patient ratio, etc. I am my fathers P of A and when it comes to his health he typically defers all paperwork to me for signature. They were aware of this, yet pestered him, over and over to sign admission documentation against his wishes, even after stating repeatedly that I would sign everything. Mind you, they never once called to ask me to come sign anything, It was pure happenstance that they came, once again, to ask him to sign and I was there. While signing, they requested his financial information (SSN, bank info), which his insurance was paying 100% of his stay, asked if I would pay for anything above and beyond what his insurance would cover, the answer to both of those requests was "NO". During the course of his stay, call lights were not responded to promptly if they even showed up at all. Food was horrible. No one ever gave any updates as to his condition. All of the special activities that they promoted and he expressed interest in, they never followed up on. He had finally had enough and asked if I would look into hospice care out of his own home. After 4 days, they still had not provided information requested by a "Doctor" so he could be discharged. Completely disappointed.

Lancaster is the best one that I would choose out here in my area. It's more like a family. They treat you with respect. They have activities like they go shopping. I would recommend this place.

My mom was recommended to stay here to recover from a recent surgery and what a nightmare this place is! She spent two weeks at this facility and I have never seen a larger collection of incompetent and unqualified staff in my life. On top of lack of basic English skills, their nursing skills are not only lacking, but dangerous! My mother would turn on her bed light to request a nurse for assistance and on several occasions a nurse came in and unplugged the light! My mom developed a septic infection at her surgical site as a result of the negligence and ignorance displayed by this staff. I would not recommend this facility for even my worst enemy.
Provider Response
As the Administrator, I am very interested in learning more about the reasons for your comments. I would appreciate the opportunity to understand and address your concerns. We strive to deliver clinical excellence and professional care in a warm, nurturing and dignified environment. To achieve this goal, we track key indicators, monitor ourselves and train our nurses and care team members on a regular schedule. Some of our staff is bi-lingual as we need to be able to communicate with residents who do not speak English. I would like to ask for more detail regarding the call lights as our nurses do reset them once the call is answered. I encourage you to contact me so we can have an in depth discussion to address each one of your points in detail. The health and comfort of our residents and the involvement of our families is precious and I want to direct my attention to your experience. I assure you that I will take our conversation seriously and take any necessary actions to ensure that the care we deliver at our Lancaster Healthcare Center meets the standards of excellence that we expect of ourselves and that those who trust us deserve. Thank you for your consideration.

I visted this place for my grand dad. First impression was that the place is really clean and that it doesn't have any stench. I've decide to put my granddad and my choice was absolutely right. Every staff were polite and accomodating. My grand dad had the best treatment in Lancaster Healthcare center. I would highly reccommend this place!

The staff, for the most part, is either completely rude to both patients and families, or they speak very little to absolutely NO English whatsoever. The nursing assistants come off as almost abusive themselves to some of the more difficult patients. Beyond that, there are groups of student nurses constantly coming and going, who are not always properly supervised! There have been instances where patients have been put in extreme danger, from simply not following directions, such as giving a diabetic an extra serving of food and desserts. I have seen call lights unplugged because the patient was deemed "annoying". My family removed my grandmother from this facility, and we warn everyone we know to not go here.
