My Mom lived at Arayata house for the last 15 months of her life and received wonderful care. Bing, Marty and their staff got to know my Mom and worked hard to meet her needs. The food was good, they have a nice backyard and front porch that we used to sit outside and visit with our Mom. I would make the same choice for my Mom again.

The couple who runs Arayata Elderly Care were really nice. The family was great and the owners live there. They spent like 45 minutes with me and my sister, and showed us all around the place. It was a good place, it looked like a home, it was on the smaller side, and that’s what it's supposed to be.

We picked Arayata for my mom in particular because it’s a rather small facility. They have room for six beds, so my mom gets a lot of really personal care. It’s pretty much the home environment that she lived in, so it was a much easier transition for her than going into a convalescent hospital or something that looked a little more institutional. We were really impressed with the people who ran the organization because they got my mom back to eating at a normal schedule and were able to accommodate her with her dog, which was really good for her. They also got my mom off of smoking, which she had been doing for 60 years, so we’re happy about that. They do things in a communal way; they take them out for events down in Lancaster and also to their doctors. It’s more of a home environment, and they don’t have a big recreational facility or anything like that, but people seemed very happy. Everyone has their separate bedroom, and a shared, large living room and a kitchen, so there’s a big communal place for everyone to gather, which promotes community, so my mom bonded right away with the other residents. What I really like is they give my mom the personal attention that she really needs. My sister, my brother, and I are all very happy.
