I was moved here from St. Jude's for recovery, treatment and physical therapy. I'll keep this as short as I can. Upon entering, a distinct and unpleasant odor hit me, immediately giving me bad vibes. On a positive note, you get used to it. The nurses were caring and friendly with me, also a positive. One other positive were the therapists; good crew when I was there a handful of years back. They were friendly and helpful. Now for the food. Absolutely TERRIBLE. I felt like it couldn't get more unpalatable. I've never been to prison, but I can't imagine it being worse. It was so bad, I had family bring real food in from the outside. And I can eat nearly anything. This was simply atrocious. As others have mentioned, there were police nearly always in the hallways, standing guard outside a random room. At least we knew where the felons were residing. Heard gunshots one night, uncomfortably close to the facility. So to sum up, the staff were friendly and helpful, not being timely only a handful of times over the course of nearly three months. The food though was terrible, the biggest complaint I had. I can only hope things have improved since. The day I was released to the comfort of my home was a godsend. It's just not the most comfortable and happy place to be while recovering. Thankfully, I'm fairly good at adjusting to not the best situations.

I was a patient for over a week until I left. This place is a horrible nightmare. There is not enough nurses for patients, if you call for a nurse waiting time is anywhere from 15 minutes to over 1 hour and 45 minutes. If you are having a real medical emergency you still have to wait for a nurse to show up. Then you have to demand to go to the ER since there are no doctors on site. The food is rancid. The other patients, you have inmates with police watching them. You have dementia people running, wheel chairing around screaming in your face, psychically attacking you. The staff tells you not to challenge them or touch them. No phones in any room. You share a room with 3 people. 1 small toilet that you share with 6 people. The bathing area is gross and unkempt. Physical Therapy only 2, with 2 helpers. It is impossible to get new meds ordered since their is no doctor on staff. I got physically sick twice and they were extremely limited to what they could/would do. One guy had no idea what to do and he was the head nurse. I'm still dealing with health issues from Subacute and Transitional Care. If you have a loved one do not send them here, it is a living nightmare. I don't see how this place stays in business. It is not safe mentally and psychically.

The staff at this facility is very inconsistent. There is no compassion in there care. If you need to speak to a supervisor they are rude and don't adress the issue. The pca's take long in changing the patient and also family always needs to leave when the patient is getting changed but that is not always the case there are other families who are allowed to be in the rooms with the patients and therefore there's the inconsistency. It seems like nobody knows what they are doing since they are too busy talking amongst each other. They are very unprofessional from the Director of nursing to the social worker. Please do not take your loved ones to this facility. In just one week and a half that my loved one was there, the skin on her body was starting to tear due to the lack of turning from the PCA and whenever we tried to inform them of an issue they gave us a run around. The only thing they provide is excellent physical and occupational therepy other than that this place is worth shutting down.
