I've visited friends. I have a very good friend whose father was there, and she was very happy with the care and everything. I also visited someone else who lived there, and she seemed to be pretty happy. She was a really positive person anyway. I myself have not been over there looking at it as a place for myself and my husband to go to. The apartments looked very nice. While I was there, the housekeeper or the cleaning person came to tidy up, and it was very nice. It looked like my friend's house that she used to live in anyway. It was very good. She has some memory problems, so I can't really talk to her too much. The thing I remember the most was they had a recreation room on the same level that she was in, and she could be there while people were cleaning her room. It was like a library or something, and I think there was a television and a billiards table in there. The receptionist was very welcoming, and they were following protocol as far as signing in and out. It was before COVID, so it wasn't the same.

When I walked in at Pacifica Senior Living Encinitas, they had music on, which was nice. That was my first time going to a senior assisted living facility in my life. It was nice to sit down and talk to them. I told them my situation and they gave me a tour. One thing I learned, though it was not a problem, was that they would not provide you with the furniture. They were doing some remodeling, and then some parts were still not done and some parts were done. The staff member who assisted me was new and she didn't know some of the stuff, but she was really sweet. She told me it was her first day, and I could see she was a little nervous, so I felt bad for her. She called me so many times to see how my aunt was doing and she followed up constantly. The dining area was nice and clean. It was an old building, so the ceilings were really low and it was a little darker.

On my tour I was pleasantly surprised at such a great group of residence. It was a real highlight of my day to stop and check in with a couple of them. There is a great mix of independent and assisted living . The residence where sharp and chatty during my tour. It felt like home.

I have visited 4 senior retirement facilities so far, this was the worst, although one of the most expensive. Although the staff was very polite, kind, and helpful, the place was indeed poor in what they had to offer. Rooms were inadequate, small, no carpet, no sink for the kitchenette. (wash a dish in the bathroom?) Menu: lunch, hot dog. Exercise area: one bicycle….out on community balcony. Poor selection of activities. Truly poor in any offerings.

When I toured Pacifica Senior Living Encinitas, I would say that from the get-go it felt like a high-security hospital. It just made my mom feel like she was being put out to pasture in a home where she was going to die. So, the whole place had that sort of, end-of-life feeling where people go there to die. The facility looked well-kept but old. I would say lighten up on the entrance security. It makes you feel like you're entering a high-security prison when you come into that place. Their staff was nice, not the tour guide, but the check-in person. He was nice, but he was very procedural, and it was not warm. It was just more like a hospital.

We didn't like it as much as other places we visited. The rooms were smaller, and the dining room wasn't quite as nice.

Presently, my husband is here and I am happy for the time being. It is very nice and lovely. I appreciate it. They care for him, and it is a month-to-month basis. I like it. It is clean, and they are doing a wonderful job. They have very good food. It is not gourmet, but it is healthy and nutritious. I can only say good things about them.

We were very impressed, and we enjoyed it, made some good friends, and I was sorry that I had to leave them, but at our advanced age, we've decided we would be better off living next to our daughter. They had movie nights, shopping trips, and trips for sightseeing, which we didn't participate in because we have our own vehicle, but many residents did and they enjoyed it a lot. There was a beauty shop, and they had a very nice library with books available and coffee or tea if you wanted it. It was more than adequate. The staff members were all excellent, very friendly, warm, and kind. I would recommend it to anyone who needed to live in a community with other people and have someone to look after them a bit. The food was very, very good, well-prepared, and decent.

My uncle is in here. We were very impressed with the staff, the facility, and everything they offer. They staff was able to tell us and give us everything we needed. They have field trips and all sorts of things that they do every day. They work as a community. They have a dining room that’s open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and they served anytime during those hours. Meals can be delivered to the room if they don’t like to eat in the dining room. They have limited parking, but it was okay and in terms of cleanliness, they are terrific.

It is my favorite of the places I went to and I love it. I saw it in the internet and it was only three miles from my home. My mom came down three times to look at it but she's living with my sister now. It was small, they have two buildings and we went to visit the north building which accommodates 30 residents. The moment we arrived, every single staff came out to greet us from the housekeepers to the beauty salon, to the chef and we were given such personal attention. I cannot believe how friendly everyone was. We stayed for a meal and we watched the residents come down and every resident was greeted by name. Every staff member acknowledged their presence. The ladies were dressed to the nines, the men were nicely attired in actual clothing. I was so impressed with that. The chef came out and told my mom "If ever there was anything you want that I don't have on the menu, I will cook it just for you, just give me the recipe and I will make sure you are happy."
