My husband is here. I've been pretty satisfied with them. They're doing a pretty good job. He's not easy, and they've been very nice. It's a beautiful place and very clean. He moves fast and he can't see, so he tends to fall and do other things, but they're figuring him out and he's only been here since Friday night. Security is very tight. Every time you go out and in, you have to wait for somebody to come to the door or put a key in and open the door for you. It's very secure and that's a good thing. They have pretty good food. They cut all the meat up into little cubes, so it's easy for him. The lady that does the cooking is excellent. I met her when I was signing all of the paperwork and going through everything and all the people in charge of different things came into that meeting and I got to meet all of them. The facility is gorgeous. They were doing an activity in that room when I was in the meeting. Everybody that was in that room was smiling and having a good time and they were involving all the people.

Ivy Park at Laguna Creek was a beautiful facility. It was very well-kept. They made good chocolate chip cookies. Those were the best cookies I've had in a long time. They had a lot of activities, but the residents lived in cottages with 15 or fewer residents. That's where they eat their dinner and all that kind of stuff. It doesn't give the residents enough choice in who they can form friendships with. In a larger facility, you have many people to choose from and get to know, but in this community, it seemed like most of the stuff happened within your cottage of residents. What if you're not thrilled with any of those 15 people? So that was a downfall. I prefer a facility that has more access to other residents. I only saw the person who gave me the tour. The whole place was really like "Where is everybody?" So I wasn't able to see the workers in action with the residents. It just seemed like there wasn't as much interaction between staff and residents.

It was small. It's nice for people who want that. The person who helped us was good. He did a good job explaining a lot of things to us being the first place that we visited, so it was very helpful. The other places gave a sense of being in a hotel, but this place is more like a house.

It seems good. It's a smaller setup. A care home was too small for her, and other places were too big, but this one has cottages with 15 people each. So, they have more people available right there to help and they have a lot of activities. It seems nice so far, and it's a really beautiful place. They have a walking club, exercises, bingo, memory games, and card games. They also bring people in from outside the community to do presentations about different things. Then they have movie nights and social hours. Every day their calendar is pretty full. It keeps them pretty busy, which is good because that's what my mom needs at this point to keep her mind active.
