About Solano Life House in Dixon, California
Welcome to Solano Life House
We are a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly; serving Solano County California from Dixon for thirty years, but what we offer is unique in the senior care field - a fixed price. We provide personalized care in an active community environment with two full time activities directors providing mental and physical stimulation every day within the home, and heading out of the home with our active seniors on regular day trips in our 15 passenger excursion van. Yet we're small enough to offer personalized, relationship based care for residents by our loving staff; something unavailable at larger corporate facilities.
We are a state licensed, secured grounds, family owned nineteen room ranch style senior care home, providing assistance with daily life. We offer a continuum of care for our senior residents. Throughout those stages we strive to enhance residents' lives with activities, companionship, safety and comfort in a communal living environment, and we do so in a manner that makes community living a viable option to residents and their families on fixed incomes. Our flat rate is unique in the senior care home community, as our residents enjoy no added fees; no levels of care charges, no service fees or menu pricing, and our residents pay this fixed rate for as long as they choose to call Solano Life House home. We also work with military veterans to allow immediate occupancy while they wait for approval of their federal benefits. Come tour our home and meet our personable care givers and staff. We would love to meet you and show you life at Solano Life House.

- Special Comment: We are unique because we THINK about every aspect of what we do and how all of our decisions are interconnected and designed to translate into better mental and physical care, healthier residents, more fulfilling days for all, and happier individuals during their golden years. We strive every day to earn the name Solano LIFE House. When my family bought this home, we wanted to do things differently within senior care, so every aspect of the experience at Solano Life House is perpetually contemplated and reviewed toward improvement. We also go beyond our residents to consider their families’ needs, and this led us to do something unseen anywhere else in senior care; one low fixed monthly rate for all residents. You will always know what your monthly expense will be, and it will never fluctuate for services, levels of care, or for as long as your family member chooses to reside at Solano Life House.

My father will be staying at Solano Life House for respite care. It was very nice, and they were very kind. They were happy to show us around, and we dropped in without an appointment. Everybody was very cordial and very inviting. They made my dad feel very welcome. They gave us a tour of the entire facility, which isn't really big, but it has nice rooms. We talked to the director, and she's been helping us get our paperwork and everything. They have nice clean rooms and good services, and they have things to do, and with meals. We were really pleased with that. They will provide whatever you need. It's done on a daily basis, and nobody else would do that. They have different like classes and groups going on from exercises to storytelling. They have kitchen staff, and they specialize in dementia care, so that was very important. I haven't tried their food, but I saw what they had up on their menu board, and it all looked very inviting. Looks like good stuff. I think there's 38 beds available in there, which makes it a small place. It's not fancy on the other side, but it's very nice, big, and clean on the inside, and that's really what I care about.

My mother has been receiving excellent care at this facility. The caregivers are attentive and really treat the residents with respect and kindness. I’m impressed with the activity selection and food is always hot and freshly prepared. I also have noticed how clean they keep the building. A good choice for your loved one!

My dad is at Solano Life House. He's currently in hospice care there. He's been there for a little over a month now. I like it there. All of the employees are very caring and kind. They are also very proactive in communicating with me about what's going on with my father. I really like the fact that they have a very good ratio of caregivers to patients. It's great. You get plenty of attention. I live in Colorado. I haven't personally been there, but my daughter who lives in Woodland not far away, has, several times. The food apparently is good because my father likes it. When there's anything involving outside, healthcare, nursing appointments or if he has any kind of issue medically, the nurses and/or the staff there call me or text me right away. I know they do karaoke, but he doesn't participate too much. He's not real verbal, but he enjoys being there. Socialization is really good. He's been included in all of the onsite activities that he can do. Everybody from the director down, they communicate well and they're very understanding and caring. They like my dad. They only have 35 beds so they can actually give a lot of individual attention as needed. My daughter said the place is very pleasant, cheery, and very nice. She said Dad has a window out over a garden area. I haven't been there to see what exactly the activities are, but from talking to the different caregivers and my dad there, he's not real verbal, but he gives a lot of thumbs up and smiles. They said he enjoys going out and taking his meals and being part of the activities. He is able to get around without having somebody help him in and out of his wheelchair. He does it on his own as much as he can, so it's pretty good. Value for money is excellent. It's very cost effective and affordable, but it's good quality. I've checked around in that area and also some other places, and it's very reasonable. I would highly recommend anybody who is in Northern California or the Sacramento area, if they're looking for a good long-term care for a parent or a family member, the Solano Life House is the first place I would send them.

My mother lives in Solano Life House. The care staff is very thoughtful and attentive, and they take care of my mother's varied needs. She seems happy with the daily activities, and the food is very tasty. I appreciate the level of cleanliness and attention to detail. I would recommend this place to anyone's family member, and it is a terrific place to live.

My wife has moved into Solano Life House. My wife has dementia and they are absolutely phenomenal. Their staff is very good with everybody. I'm out there and I see the stuff that's going on. Mary, the manager, is excellent. I really think that anyone who needs to put anybody in a home should try getting in with Solano Life House. When I've gone in there, it's always clean. The staff members are always working with the patients. Mary makes sure everything is taken care of. The owner, Porter, is very good with everything. He makes sure that when he's on the floor, everything is taken care of and I'm very, very glad that I got my wife in there because she has severe dementia. They have an open area where, if they're capable of walking on their own or with a staff member, they can go outside and get fresh air. It's a beautiful garden area. It's not huge, but it's very nice. They have a hallway and they can walk into that. The staff does singalongs and I've seen them read books to them. They play sports with them and stuff. They're very active with the people that are in there. She is OK when I'm there, but a lot of times she'll just be sitting there and watching everyone else. She does listen to all the books being read and the stuff that they're trying to keep these people's mind going. I've eaten there and they serve awesome food for them. I go there a lot of times at feeding time such as lunch and sometimes in the afternoon. It's well balanced. They're a small facility owned by a private family and they take pride in what they have. These people are in wheelchairs and they tend to sleep a lot, but when they are awake, the staff is constantly working with them. If I end up happening to go in a home because I have long-term care, that's where I'm going to go.

We already have my father in a home at Solano Life House. It's a nice and clean place. The people are very nice. We like its location. The floors throughout the whole property are laminated, and his room is just a square room with a closet, and we provided the furniture.

Solano LifeHouse was the perfect place for my father. He has passed away, but I still have fond memories of his time there. The staff were really caring and friendly; and someone was always available when I needed to contact them. They always kept me informed of his activities and well-being. The facility was clean and well-maintained. It was just the right size--not just a small board & care home; but also not a huge, impersonal facility where no one has time for one-on-one interaction with residents or comunication with family. The rooms were nice and the bathrooms were spacious. Although my dad had dementia, he was ambulatory and very active. Therefore, the staff took him on walks or occasional visits to a golf course when possible. The price for care was very reasonable. The One Price For Life feature was invaluable, allowing us to set a care budget without unanticipated costs. I was very pleased with Solano Lifehouse and I've been telling everyone I know to consider this facility for their senior care needs.

The Solano Life House staff is welcoming, friendly and accommodating. My dad stayed there first, and then my mom years later. They were both well cared for with their safety, bathing, and medications. The rooms are large and there is a bathroom for each room. The meals are tasty and nutritious. The residents can choose to go on outings that are arranged by the staff. It was the perfect solution for us and we were fortunate to have Solano Life House so close to their home. We would choose Solano Life House again.

We got to tour Solano Life House. The building is not nice and the courtyard is terrible. When you go into the building itself, there's the main room, it wasn't a homey or comfortable feeling. They charge a little less than the other place I toured, but for the money, I was disappointed. I looked around the rooms, they seemed very sterile. We saw some of the clients there, they were playing a game and they all looked happy. The lady was knowledgeable and the staff looked friendly. I was just put off by how it looked.

My mom has been a resident for over a year. The staff is wonderful. The meals are well balanced and look tasty. There are two residents per room and from our experience, the staff finds compatible roommates. The rooms are a good size with a large bathroom. The residents spend most of their days in main room where meals are served and activities are enjoyed. There is a courtyard that is enjoyable to sit and enjoy the fresh air. There are activities that mom has enjoyed including going with a small group to get ice cream, lunch at a restaurant, walks around the neighborhood and mom was in the Solano Life House van in the May Fair Parade this year.

My wife has been in this facility for over a year now. When visiting we love to sit in the courtyard. Staff is very friendly. We appreciate that a dog visits a couple times a week and it is a delight for residents. We made the right choice.

When you go into Solano Life House, each person has to be let into the facility, so you can't just walk in and out of there anytime. That gave me a little bit of confidence that my mother couldn't just walk out unassisted from there (which she would tend to do.). We went to the memory care and they did the protocols for COVID to let me enter the facility. I wore a mask the whole time. The place looked well maintained and clean. Mary was very helpful in answering my questions. She guided me through the entire facility all the way around, through the gates, into the courtyard, and so on. She showed me a room that they have set up just for tours, which is a sample of what a person would be living in, explained it, showed me the bathroom, and gave me some recommendations. It's just a little bit older facility and it looked to me more like a hospital than an apartment complex. Their rooms were also shared (which would be hard for my mom).

My mother is in Solano Life House for memory care. It's a very family-like atmosphere. They keep the residents engaged. They're very friendly and very loving. They make sure that she has all of her medications. Her room has a bed, a nightstand, and a chair. It's a typical, dorm room type. The staff is very caring. They have a courtyard garden area. The upkeep and maintenance are really good, so everything is very clean. They have a maintenance person onsite that takes care of all maintenance needs. You get what you pay for. The amount you pay when you move in is the amount that you pay every month for life. The food is a hit or miss. There are some meals that she likes and some meals that she doesn't, but they'll give her an alternate meal if she doesn't like the one that they have.

The staff is the best! Mom’s overall care, her meals and the facility’s cleanliness is what impresses me about the most. We always feel welcomed when visiting mom, and the staff is always accommodating to our requests. There is a nice outdoor area to sit with mom when the sun is out. Again, the staff members are commended for all that they do for the residents. Thank you!

I recently placed my mother at Solano Life House. The staff is incredible and responds every time I send a message or have a question. This is a very stressful time and I am so thankful that I chose Solano Life House. The rooms are completely remodeled and beautiful, the front area is so open and my mother has made several friends that she visits with every day. I am able to bring her dinner and visit with her, even with COVID, in their beautiful patio area.

The Solano Life House visit was very successful. I saw the room where my husband would've lived, and I looked in a window to see the activity area where they had meals and where activities took place. They let me use the toilet, so I was inside the facility, and in their garden. They do a terrific job at a great price. He would've had to share a room. There was no bathroom, but there was a toilet down the hall. It's well run, very well done, bigger, and institutional. It didn't feel like a home, but I was very impressed. It's by far the least expensive, and they guarantee the same price for life. What you pay when you start is what you pay the rest of the time the resident is there. In terms of what they offer, I would give it a perfect rating.

My mother has been at Solano Life House for almost 2 years after a bad fall. The staff has been wonderful to my mom, who also suffers from dementia. They truly care about each and every one of the residents, creating a warm family atmosphere. The staff understands the individual needs of the residents whether it be emotional or physical and takes the time to offer individual comfort and encouragement. It’s a difficult decision to move a loved one to a care facility, however we feel SLH was a good choice and still do.
