I've had a lot of experience at St. Paul's Plaza. My godmother was there. She was independent, but if you're medical status changed, you pay a little extra. She went from independent to assisted because she had to have help after her. She was a resident for about two years. When you drive through, there's not a lot of parking, but there's a lot of street parking. On weekends, you could park at the hospital across the street in their parking lot. It's a gated community. It has a grass area with a playground for the kids, a dog park, and an area where they celebrate, like Veteran's Day. They have barbecues out there and music. When you go inside, it has marble and nice rich wood. They have a formal dining room, so if the family wants to use it, they can have their food or have their food catered. There are elevators. You can either have a one-bedroom or a studio. The living area has a kitchen with a small top two-burner stove, lots of cabinets, and a large closet as you come into the door. The bathroom is large and is located in the bedroom if you have the one-bedroom and there are two closets in the bedroom, which was nice. The shower area is large, where you can roll a wheelchair and scoot over into your shower chair. You have to provide your own internet. There's a large park across the street if you want to take your parent or your loved one out and stroll through the park. Their dining room is nice. They also have a bar with TVs. It's like Buffalo Wild Wings where you have the TVs on the wall showing the different games, and they have a bar where the residents can have a wheelchair roll up to the bar or residents can sit in the bar stools and you can get beer and wine. They have a meal plan where you either have breakfast, lunch, and dinner or you can reduce your cost by just choosing one or two meals. They have a gym with a physical therapist onsite at all times. They have a swimming pool and a therapy pool. The staff is really nice. The doors close at 11:00, and you ring the doorbell. I believe there's staff there 24/7 or you have a scan, so you can get back in. It's easy to get around. It had very nice wide hallways. They have exercise every morning where you just come right out your door and everyone in that hallway who wants to participate just does hallway exercise. Each floor has a full-sized kitchen and a large area for families to have their own little cookouts and meals together.

St. Paul's Plaza was very nice, it was just a little more expensive than the other place, and they didn't have a pool and a spa. The apartments were fairly decent size, very nice, but not much storage. They had a very good list of things to do, they take people shopping, and they had several choirs; they were very good on that from what we saw. The staff seemed to be hard working. The dining area was very nice, and typical.

St. Paul's Plaza was really nice. I liked the people and the set up. I liked the facilities and the restaurant-type meals. The room was nice and everything was good. The staff was wonderful.

St. Paul's Plaza is fairly new and very nice. They had two dining rooms that offered two meals a day, and washer and dryer in the apartment. They had a bar, weight rooms, swimming pool, and you could have a pet. I saw a nice, clean one-bedroom with views over San Diego. It's independent and costs around $2,800, but you can get more care for a maximum of $8,000 a month. We had lunch there, and it was very good. We met one girl who showed us around and was very nice and polite.

St. Paul's Plaza is a new building with nice apartments for assisted living. I wasn't so impressed with their memory care, but their model was well-done in terms of trying to keep those who are in memory care involved in their communities. They had little sections where they watched TV together and community meals. The food was good quality, nutritious, and was varied enough so they catered to a bunch of different tastes. Whether you like spicy or not spicy, you could choose from their menu and have what you would like. The staff is very engaged and solicitous. They have a library, exercise room, exercise saltwater pool, activities every day, music that comes in, and a lot of entertainment.

I like St. Paul; it’s absolutely gorgeous. It has the saltwater pool, but it was just too much for my parents. I liked their staff, but it was more like a business, and since it’s fairly new there weren’t a lot of patients; it looked empty. The grounds were gorgeous, and it was cheaper for its price.

The rooms at St. Paul's Plaza provide very nice lighting. The staff is wonderful, and there are 4 nurses on staff which means there is at least one nurse on staff all the time, and that's a big deal because my mother requires insulin injections. It has a library, a nice little outdoor area, an entertainment area, and a pool. There is a separate place which is sort of a multi-function because they do musical things there and some types of exercises, and this is in the dementia care.

My husband had respite care at St Paul's a couple of weeks ago. We ate there, and it was more of a gourmet food. The rooms were perfect -- like in a time share; they had a nice bed with nice quilts, a sitting chair, and another chair. The bathrooms were beautiful. The doors were wide, you could get in and out with nothing blocking you, and the doors to the restroom were oversized. The restrooms were very large, and they have a double size showers with benches. It was not expensive for a memory care. They have 24-hour food, they have about 3 nurses overnight, and they have a lot of assistants. They have activities from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. They have the rooms set up so that no matter what you end up in the same place all the time.

St. Paul's Plaza was too expensive but a lovely place that was very plush and nice. The rooms and apartments were very nice. You could get a one-bedroom apartment with a handicap accessible bathroom, so it's very nice. They bring people in to do activities. The dining area was lovely to look at and very comfortable. Hopefully, they can get their pricing down to where more people can afford it.

St. Paul's Plaza was very nice and almost brand new. They offered all kinds of activities and had a saltwater pool. One thing I liked about them was, they said that if you have family in the area, they could stay there while you were there.

St. Pauls was nice; it just seemed very quiet. It didn’t seem like there was much going on. It didn’t seem as active or as fun to be there in the sense of having a lot of socialization. But it was clean, new, and nice.

My mom liked St. Paul's Plaza because it's brand new, everybody is really friendly, everything looked real nice, and it's not any more expensive than the others. There weren't a lot of people filling the halls looking ill, and that had to do with the fact that it was new. There weren't a lot of people sitting around in wheelchairs looking miserable. The common dining room hasn't really been used much yet.
