Villagio at Capriana is a great community, but we have been going through some issues with addressing Mom's medications and agitation. Other than that, the staff has been attentive and very easy to communicate with. I've tried the food only when they have community events and it's been exceptional. The facility is beautiful with very well manicured and landscaped grounds. It's clean and safe. Their activities were the best that we had seen. They have a rich activities calendar and they do a good job with engaging a large majority of the residents in daily activities.

Villagio at Capriana was very nice and clean. They took care of the people. However, the only thing I didn't like about it was that it was very pricey. By the time you add all the extras, it will become like $8,000, so that's pretty pricey, and I guess it depends on the level of care. When you go in you have to get the furniture, and then you would have to get whatever care you need, and then mental care would be part of it. All the other stuff would be in addition. In my wife's case, it would be very expensive. The staff was very nice and very helpful.

We were looking for something local and very close to my home, and Villagio at Capriana was very, very close. We had an appointment right away, and I was able to go in. The director was very polite, very nice, and very informative. She provided me a pamphlet and information. She gave me a tour and showed me a room and the facility. She let me know how things would take place and assured me that my mother would be safe. All those areas were of concern to me, and she definitely met my idea of what I wanted for my mother. The room is like a studio apartment. It is like a one-room. It is very spacious. It has a little outdoor patio. If my mother wanted to do gardening, she could do that. The room provides for a bed and a small front room entertainment area. If she wanted to relax or entertain, she could do that. The walk-in shower is very clean. They have a laundry service. They do her clothes, and then they bring them back to her. It is amazing that they do that. They have a doctor on-call. They have regular doctor visits there, and they have physical therapy there. It was just amazing. The rooms were very clean and very beautiful. During the walk through, we saw the dining room and the area where they have activities. They had an activity director, who was participating and making sure that everybody was actively participating. They showed me the outdoors. She showed me the schedule for the month and what activities were going to take place, so it was very well organized. The staff acknowledged and made me feel welcome. You walk in and there is a formal visiting area, like a front room. Then you go to where the activities are. They are all very, very well maintained and very organized. They know the clients that they have. They all address them by name, and they are always very aware of where they are at all times. As a gift, the staff gave me a sampler of a side dish or an appetizer for the clients. It was very delicious. It was very impressive. I asked her if it was just something they served. She said that they are more Italian based. A lot of their foods are antipasto and things like that, which was just one of my mom's favorites. I was very, very pleased with it. I enjoyed that completely.

We went over to the memory care section. The staff seemed very friendly and very helpful. I think for the type of people that are in there, the facilities were very good. What's difficult there is there are a lot of people sitting around in chairs and wheelchairs staring out into space and that's kind of hard to see. It's like, "Oh gosh, I don't want my mom in here." That kind of struck me that my mom is not at this level yet as I went through there. There's a garden area and a courtyard. It's a beautiful facility.
Happy mom..... Happy family!!

My family is so grateful that we found Villagio!! We moved our mother in about a year ago. We never thought she would be happy any where because she is very picky but the AMAZING staff at Villagio has made it possible for our family to relax and not worry about our mom's happiness and well being. She has acclimated nicely thanks to the professional and kind care of everyone who works at this facility!! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect place for mom or dad........

I visited Villagio at Capriana. The main girl there is great. She is very personable. It's a beautiful facility. However, I can't see my father being in a facility like that. He is going to be 93 in April and he has dementia. He needs one-on-one all day and all night care, but they can't offer that at a facility like Villagio at Capriana. I stay in contact with them. The girl there is very sweet, but it is just not the right fit for my father's situation. I think it is safer for him just to be at home. However, it's a beautiful place. It's beautiful inside, and they keep everything meticulous. When I went to Villagio at Capriana, they were doing dinner service, and they had music playing. They seemed to be very hands-on and very caring. The room is just a basic room. It seems very clean and very nice, but you have to bring all your own furniture. My main concern is if you're in memory care, having a closed door just worries me. Even though they have cameras in the room, it doesn't make sense to have closed doors. Also you don't see what's going on all the time. The staff is not looking at the camera 24/7. They're not staring at the camera for everybody's room, so that's just concerning to me. I think they should leave the doors open. That's just my opinion. The food didn't look very appetizing to me either. I think they're doing a great job there, but it is not for everybody. I think it's a great facility.

My aunt has been at Villagio at Capriana since July of 2016. We recently had my niece’s baby shower in the room called Bella Vista which was perfect. The ambiance and food made for a great day for our family and friends. The staff truly care and I’m happy my aunt found such a nice place to live after downsizing from her large home in Anaheim Hills. Our family was not sure on bringing in care into the home or moving her to a place like Villagio. After being here almost 10 months we know we made the right decision.

The turn over of care poviders is high for the past many months. New care givers do not seem to have good training, because people do not have time to train them. The ratio of residents to caregivers is very high.
Provider Response
Thank you for your feedback. Our company and community work hard each and every day to ensure turnover of any kind does not impact our resident experience. It is always our goal to provide training and staffing to meet or exceed industry standards and requirements. I would be happy to speak with you so that I can address your concerns directly; please feel free to call or stop by my office anytime. Warm Regards, Sam Faye, Executive Director

Given my mom’s unique needs, we went ahead and placed her in the memory care center in Brea by the name of Villagio at Capriana. She has been there about 2 months, and most of everything that they have promised, they delivered. A lot of our decisions is because of the subjective feel to the environment, the confidence that was instilled, and the fact that they appeared to have a high ratio of caregivers to patients. Also, in the event my mother needed oxygen, they were able to administer that where some of the other facilities were not. They have caregivers, but they also have medtechs. It’s a slightly different model than many of the other locations that we looked at.

Villagio at Capriana is probably a good fit for our needs. The main reason why we liked it was because they had separate floors for their advanced care and basic care. The rooms that I saw were very nice. The staff was very nice and informative. The place was very clean, nice, and well organized.

The care level at Villagio has declined significantly. There have been several instances where I believe my Dad's health has been jeopardized. There is one particular nurse who is a problem.
Provider Response
Dear Mr. Weaver, We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with your father’s care. The safety and security of our residents is of the utmost importance at Villagio. I know that you and I have connected already in response to this review, but I want to say again that my door is always open for residents, family, friends, and visitors to express their thoughts or concerns, so please don’t hesitate to call or stop by my office anytime. Warm Regards, Jennifer Turgeon, Executive Director

My mother lived here for about 6 months. We visited several memory care facilities and many were good, but when we met Mr. Rodriguez, Marketing Director, and received a tour, we knew we had found the perfect home for mom. I am fortunate to live close to Villagio and I could visit my mother at the start of her day and at dinner. I would also visit at random times just to love her up. I saw my mom and the other residents at all times of the day. The staff are amazingly wonderful. Every resident is treated as if the staff are caring for their own loved one. They know how to make the resident's happy and always have a kind word to bring a smile to their faces. Isn't this what we want for our moms and dads? Villagio is clean, the food is good, and the activities are planned for engagement. Very sadly, my mother passed this week. Villagio staff have reached out to offer sincere condolences. I feel like they have been my extended family. The staff work hard and what's great is that they get along well and support one another. This positive work spirit comes from the quality staff they hire, but is also nurtured by the exemplary management. I feel eternally grateful that my mom was so well cared for. Thank you, Villagio

I moved my wife into Villagio last week. She is adjusting well and went on the bus yesterday to the Bowers Museum. The staff is pleasant and I'm happy with my choice after looking at a few places.

He is at Villagio at Capriana. My dad is still very physically able, and many of the facilities have very limited space and limited physical activities for memory care, which was my biggest concern for him. This particular one is close in proximity to me and is halfway between me and my brother's home, and it also offers a lot more in terms of space and care. He goes on a walk, typically, twice a day, he is out in the gardening area and a bunch of clubs and different things, and the level of care is based on their memory needs. So he has outings twice a week on the minimum. He still loves to garden, and they go out once a week to do that. I think it is a good place because his physical needs are such that he needs more; he needs to be able to do that. They also have access to the Capriana and to what the Capriana has to offer, so there are things like the swimming pool so he can go over there with assistance, of course, because it is a locked down facility and everything else, but he could be able to use it or have them take him there and things like that, so it is a very nice blend. It is a newer unit, and that was a concern I had because they've only been open for a little over a year, but they have really good specialists that are coming in and doing workshops on memory care for family members. I have been very pleased with it, and it took me a long time to find a very good place. He has been very pleased, and they do a lot of activities to continue to stimulate the cognitive functioning. The things that I didn't even think that he would enjoy, he loves. We had him do a trial there first; he went over for a week, and he wanted to stay. He was happy. I think the activities and socialization are good.

Well, hum, we have had our loved one in Villagio for several months now. The things we were told are a tad different from what we experiencing. We have had to stay on top of a few things. The ratio has changed, or never really was what we were told. Although our loved one does like the food and eats real good. The grounds are nice and clean and we are able to visit our loved one whenever we want. They will give you a nice tour.

We chose this 'new home for Dad' after looking at almost 25 others in the Riverside and Orange County areas. It's very expensive compared to other facilities! but hopefully wonderful! My father moves in this weekend so I don't have first hand knowledge as of yet, but everyone seems very nice and caring. They have told us the ratio is 1 caretaker to 3 residents...better than most if the ratio is true. The facility is clean (however, it's brand new as well....so it should be clean!). The activity/dining room as very large and open to the outside secure garden area...a nice touch. The building next door is Capriana (also expensive compared to other facilities) for assisted and independent living....a five star hotel if ever there was one! The grounds are lovely, the rooms are nice, the food is good.
