I visited this facility

I toured Columbus Estates. It was very nice, well kept, clean, and good food. The staff was nice and friendly. They listen to you. They have a very nice restaurant setting. You get to pick two different meals per day or each lunch hour. They still have their regular weekly ones, but rotate them throughout the week, even on weekends. You can have a hamburger or you can have one of the two meals that they fixed and prepared that day, and it's done by a real chef. They have a big walkway for exercise. It has physical therapy there. It has a community where they can get together for potluck and play games, bingo, and that kind of stuff. The atmosphere is nice. Everybody seemed happy.

Columbus Estates was nice and clean. The people that lived there looked pretty happy. They're very communicative. The only thing my mom didn't like was they didn't have a stove and they only had one refrigerator because they would provide meals to their residents 3 times a day. She likes to cook, so that was the only reason she didn't like it. But she liked the place, she said it was beautiful. Alex was very nice, very presentable, and very professional. He took us to the places and showed us what they do every day. They had hobbies. He was very patient.

We were pleasantly greeted at the front entrance of Columbus Estates and offered refreshments before our appointment started. We spoke to an assistant manager that day and we received an overview of the independent living for seniors, and everything went well. She made time to answer questions and then she took us to two different apartments. The rooms were clean and they were ready for a move-in. They both offered a nice window view. One had a little patio and she also showed us all the safety features.

Columbus Estates was beautiful. The staff was great. They were cool, good, and very friendly people. They do movie nights, exercise classes, Bible study, and bingo. For me, I'm still living a very active life, though. They have all those activities and stuff there, but I do a whole lot of other stuff, which wasn't what they're doing there. We also looked at some of the rooms, and they still weren't done yet. If I was the one doing a business and showing my property, I'd make sure that the rooms and everything that I was going to be showing were clean and ready to go, but the rest of the place all looked good and professional.

I visited this facility

I took a tour at Columbus Estates three years ago and just went back to this place recently to see it again. When they told me they had a cottage available, which is what I wanted, I went there to check on it. They pretty much have everything. One of the things I like is that they have put attention on Christian values. If you want to partake of it, you can, and if you don't, you don't have to. They put out materials for scripture reading and I love that because it reminds me that I've got to do this. I have a friend that lives there too and she told me that she could not be happier. They have a varied menu for the meals. Sometimes when you eat at these places, you would think that their food seems to taste the same even though it's different, but I didn't get that from this place. It was a really good menu, and it felt all homemade. I had lunch there and I don't really like beef ribs, but they served me one and they were delicious. They offered all kinds of drinks throughout, just like they do in a regular restaurant, and so it was nice. We saw pictures of activities that they do and they talked about how the family can be involved. I have great- grandkids and they said that they can spend a night there. So, I think it's going to be a good fit for me. The lease is only three months and then it goes month to month. If something happens that makes me unhappy, which I couldn't see happening, I could always get out of it. I can have my pets and they can walk them, they even have stuff for you just in case they have an accident. It's also close to home. Alex was the one who's been keeping me in touch with me and I met Melissa there, the activities director, and all of them know everybody there. They take time to get to know the people and that's a good thing. It was an easy visit. They explained everything and I'm happy with it. The cleaning staff made it look like nobody lives there because it just looked so clean. You don't see a paper on the grounds, it was really quiet, and people were having lunch while some were walking their animals and that kind of thing. It reminds me of hotel living. You go to a hotel, have breakfast, they take your order, and they're not rushing you out. You can sit as long as you want. It's not an assisted living place, but should it happen, that you'd often get into that kind of a situation, they can help out.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The care that Columbus Estates provides to my mother-in-law is excellent and the staff is excellent. The food is not very good, probably because of the situation right now. They are doing puzzles, and they do door-to-door little paper activities that they can play and participate in. Her apartment is spacious and has a kitchenette but no stove, just a sink and refrigerator.

I visited this facility

I toured Columbus Estates. It was very nice. I liked the people, but it is not a new development. The rooms were nice. I think the tour guide was special. I liked this place a lot mainly because it is warm and friendly. I had lunch, and it was very nice. Everybody there was friendly. The food was great. You can get what you want. I can't say enough about this community. They have an activity center. They have a variety of activities to pick from. I was there during the lunch break and there was nothing going on necessarily. They have a salon for hair and that was nice for people who have the inability to raise their arms, which is my problem. I like the fact that they have a salon.

Columbus Estates was nice. The people there were very inviting. One girl keeps calling me back making sure everything's alright. It was really nice compared to the other ones that I have seen. They take the residents out for day activities, and they were doing Bingo the night that I got there. They have a little board with the itinerary on it, so they have a lot scheduled for the people that live there. The residents seem happy and real cheery. For a 1-bedroom, even a studio, you could fit a pretty good sized bed in there plus a furniture, a TV, or whatever. They also have a cafeteria which looks more like a restaurant.

Columbus Estates was older, but it was a nice facility. The people were friendly, and there were activities going on. They have a library, but it's not as big, and they have card games. They have a girl that comes in and does hair, and that was nice. The dining area was not as new, but it was nice.
