We have chosen the Belmont Village Aliso Viejo for my mom because it is newer than all the other ones. It is under five years old, and it's very light, airy, and inviting. The other ones were dark and had dark maroon colors. The staff members are happy. They enjoy working there, and one of the things we noticed was that all the staff know all the names of the people. They would go down the hall and they'd say, "Hi, so-and-so." The staff members are younger, probably in their 20s and 30s, whereas for some of the other ones, the staff had been there a long time, and they were older. It was just a totally different environment, and that's why we went with the Belmont. All the amenities, the furniture, the rooms are very up-to-date. Instead of having keys to all the rooms, they have a key fob. It's a beautiful facility. We tasted the food and it was delicious. They have a variety of foods on the menus. You could choose whatever you wanted. We got a studio apartment for my mom. It has sufficient closet space in it. It's new. It's ADA approved, so she can pull a wheelchair right into the sinks, and that type thing. It comes with a refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink. And then the rest is like a big room and a couple of closets. I like the closets because there's two clothes racks. There's a lower one and an upper one, and so when it's winter, I can put her summer clothes up on top and switch them out. There's plenty of room for storage. It's nice and bright. It's not big, but it's livable and comfortable. We have talked to a lot of patients, and we have not found one person there yet that has given us a complaint. I've been there a lot getting my mom moved in and trying to help acclimate her, and everybody has been most friendly and kind to us. I've just been very impressed that I have not heard one complaint, and I can't say there's anything I could complain about. Everybody has been most kind and helpful, and they can't do enough for you.

I toured Belmont Village Aliso Viejo. I like that they had a pool. It was a large facility. I did an unscheduled tour, and they were happy to accommodate me, but it was not during mealtime. The apartments seem to be a reasonable size. They had a nice-sized theater there. They have 24 daily choices on their menu for dining, so a large selection of different things. They had a heated saltwater pool that was kept at 82 degrees. They made me want to go in their pool. They seemed to have plenty of parking. They have short stays like respite care, so that looked nice. Everything was clean. The staff was very friendly. Everyone spoke to me as I came through and said hello. It seemed like a very welcoming place.

Belmont Village Aliso Viejo was great. I thought the facility was nice. It was clean and bright. They had a lot of different programs depending on what your parent might need. The rooms were nice. It's a new facility, so everything is brand new. I did not try the food, but I noticed the chef had been there for a while, and the dining room looked very nice. They have a support group called the Circle of Friends for people that are having some memory issues and I was impressed with that. They meet every day and there are activities that they go through. It's designed for their residents to use their brains and keep them active and busy. I didn't get to interact with that many people, but the girl who took me around was great, and she followed me a few times.
