Everybody at Oakmont of Agoura Hills was very nice and answered questions. It looked like a resort. It was just the marketing director who we talked to. They had a waiting list. We saw a couple of rooms. They showed the dining area and where they might have some kind of activity going on. I saw the grounds and the outdoors. We were only interested in the memory care, so that was just a certain part of it. It was brand new, but it's kind of luxurious, and we don't need that for my brother-in-law. One good thing at the Oakmont was that they had some kind of cameras in the room that could catch somebody if they had fallen.

Oakmont is only a year old and everything is well appointed. Here are the problems: The food is terrible and they have had difficulty hiring the right kitchen staff. What they call a chef is little more than a cook, and not a very good one. There has been at least 4 "chefs" since they opened. The food is often not of the type that the residents want or like and is served luke warm to cold. The portions tend to be skimpy as well. I have only been in the room of my relative which is a studio. The room is adequate, but not large and the clothes closet is a bit small. Due to the frequent change in staff, there have been times they haven't had an activity director or a driver. There have been few outings. They stream only very old movies and nothing more current or new. My relative is currently looking into other assisted living options, as she is not happy there. Also as of 3/1/23 the rents are increasing over $300 per month.

I toured Oakmont of Agoura Hills Independent Living. There were already residents there. The layout was very convenient. They had a lot of facilities there. I shared a luncheon with one of the ladies there, and it was a very pleasant place. They have game rooms, and they have activities of all kinds. It is just a very comfortable and very nice place to retire at some point in time. They have cards, they have other types of games, and they have services that would take you for doctors' appointments and things like that. The staff member who accommodated me was a very pleasant lady, and she did a super good job. She was not pushy because she understood that I was not ready to actually make a move. She was a very pleasant lady who did a fantastic job of showing me around the different areas and things of that nature. The place was very pleasant. They had all the needs that a stationary person would want to have enjoyment, pleasure, and particularly meeting other people.
