Hood River, the county seat of Hood River County, is located on the south shore of the Columbia River in the shadow of Mount Hood. The town, a popular tourist mecca in both winter and summer, has been named one of the best "cool riverfront towns" in America by "CNN Travel" magazine.

  • Driving around Hood River is easy, given the town's compact size. For trips out of town, I-84 cuts through town and connects Hood River with Portland to the west and other Columbia River towns. For public transportation, Columbia River Transit offers both fixed route and curb-to-curb service. While there are no senior discount offered on these services, the fares are much less than you'd find in larger cities.
  • The Hood River, Oregon area is home to world-class medical facilities including Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, in the event of medical emergencies or illness.
