It's just a short distance away from Lake of the Isles and Lake Calhoun, which gives seniors access to outdoor exercise and sports, such as fishing. Uptown Minneapolis, the neighborhood where Somerset Oaks is located, is a walkable area with local shopping and dining opportunities. Living in a larger city allows seniors greater selection for world-class healthcare and the amenities of a populous metro area. Somerset Oaks does not offer on-site medical care, although it does have apartments with wheelchair accessibility. The staff in this community help with assisted lifts, with a set weight limit. An on-site property manager and 24-hour maintenance services are available for resident needs. Seniors may choose accommodations from one-bedroom apartments to three-bedroom townhomes, and pets are allowed inside each residence. Kitchens are fully appointed with granite countertops and newer appliances, allowing residents to prepare meals for themselves. Transportation is not provided, however, this community is within walking distance of public transportation and private parking is available for those who drive.
