Long-Term Care Ombudsman(888) 264-2258Seniors residing in assisted living facilities with concerns about their care can register complaints with the Long-Term Care Ombudsman. The ombudsman will investigate and pursue resolutions with the owners and managers of the facilities. Families and third parties can also register complaints. If the complaint implies criminality, such as elder abuse, the ombudsman will refer it to the proper authorities. 
Medicare – SHIP(800) 432-4040SHIP (State Health Insurance Program) is a free counseling service provided to Medicare beneficiaries by the Arizona Department of Economic Security. Seniors can have confidential face-to-face meetings with counselors who can help them understand their current levels of coverage and advise them on the best Medicare plans to deal with any shortfalls. Sometimes, these plans may include private health care insurance. However, the counselors won’t try to sell insurance to seniors.
Medicaid – Arizona Long Term Care (ALTCS)(800) 654-8713The ALTCS program is part of Arizona’s Medicaid service. It can pay all or some of the assisted living costs for low-income seniors who satisfy the eligibility requirements, one of which is that they can prove that assisted living is the best type of care for their needs. The senior must be at least 65 years old, possess a social security number and have resources not exceeding $2,000 and a monthly income of no more than $2,250.
