My mother needed rehab for her hip, and she went to get it at The Green House Cottages of Poplar Grove in Little Rock. It was great, so I would recommend it to anybody. She was there for about three weeks. I would give them five stars. They only have twelve patients in every cottage, and there's a nurse in every cottage, not to mention the CNAs. Every time I called, they answered the phone. When I was on the phone with my mom and she called for them, they were always there quickly. They were attentive. In fact, if it weren't for them, we wouldn't have known that she had cancer. They happened to go in when she was sleeping and noticed she was breathing funny. They alerted the RN, the RN went in there and checked her stats, and she noticed that they were low. They did an X-ray, sent her to the ER, and called us. My mom never called me complaining about something, although she didn't really like the food. Other than that, they were great. The Poplar Grove was amazing. We weren't allowed to go in, of course, because of COVID, but we did get to go to the window and see her. From what I could see from the window, it was clean. They weren't big rooms, but she was in a room by herself. She had a TV and a dresser. I really can't see much through the window, but it was nice.

Not enough workers to care for the elders there. Some of the CNA's are lazy and don't do their job. Their idea of activities for the people there is to push them to the commons area and put them in front of the TV and leave them. My wife was there and if she needed something she would call for them and it would take 20-30 minutes for them to come help her. They advertise any type of food the patient wants but that is not true. You get what they fix and the food is not good. Trying to call the office is useless. You get an answering system that is always full and can not take new messages. If you do get lucky enough to leave a message no one every calls back.

The Green House Cottages of Poplar Grove was a terrible facility. My mother had a horrible experience there. The aides were overworked and expected to do everything, take care of the residents, clean, cook, and everything. There were not enough people working there. So, they were always rushed and they didn't give the attention needed to the residents. Some aides were extremely rude to my mother, and when she would press the button to get help to go to the bathroom in the night, they either wouldn't come or they would come and be rude to her and tell her to get up herself. One of them we complained about so much that they fired her. The food was horrible, too. There were a couple of nice people, and some of those aides told us that they simply couldn't keep up. They just didn't have enough time in the day. My mother was there for over a month and her floor was never swept. Her bathroom was only cleaned when I begged them to clean it and the sheets were never changed. It was just terrible. The facility itself was nice. The outside of the cottages was nice. They kept up the yard and the landscaping, but they didn't do the cleaning inside. They need more staff to take care of the residents. They need someone separate to do the cooking and someone to be a custodian or do the janitorial services. Also, I think that the staff needed more training on how to take care of people after a stroke. The therapists were good there though. That's the only reason we kept her there as long as we did, but then the aides were so bad, we just couldn't let her stay there any longer. She was crying every day when she was there. It was so bad. Since the buildings were set up with a series of ten buildings and were maybe two workers in each building, but there was no phone number, so you couldn't talk to anybody to find out how your mom or dad or whoever was there was doing. Then there was one building with the office and they were not even close to where my mother's building was. So if I called there, I never got through to anybody. It was just an answering machine and there were maybe ten options for people to leave messages with. Their message boxes were always full. So, you had to drive over there to talk to anybody in the office.
