I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad has moved into Holiday South Wind Heights. The place is very nice. They have a problem with cockroaches. They sprayed but it just drives me nuts. Nevertheless, the people working there are fantastic. They're a wonderful group of people. They stay upbeat regardless of what's coming at them. They treat the residents like they treat anybody else. They don't talk down to them. And there are many functions there like games and activities to keep them busy. They have field trips, too. Once a month, my daughter and I stay there. We can eat in the dining area with the other residents. The food, I would say, is presentable. And regarding value for money, for what I'm paying for, there should be no bugs, but the place is always kept up. Whenever you walk in, there is always someone cleaning it.

I visited this facility

My friend and I went to Holiday South Wind Heights. We enjoyed visiting with a staff member. She was nice. She invited us to come back and play games with them and eat with them anytime. We enjoyed her company. Holiday was very clean. You couldn't smell any odors. Some of the residents were nice to us, too. My friend says the food was good. And we liked the fact that there is a balcony or a patio you can stand on. We had lunch there. The dining area was spaced out where the residents could get their walkers through and it was clean and set up nice. They had servers that come out and serve your food. It was a very pleasant experience.

Holiday South Wind Heights was very nice. The director gave us a tour and everything was nice. She showed us the menu which was a really good menu, and the little apartments were just very nice. They had a variety of different things they could do craft-wise and some different activities that they would have in the evenings and things like that that they could participate in, that also looked nice. We met a couple of the staff members, and they were all really nice and very helpful. We didn't sample a meal, but they were eating, and it looked really good. They give choices of what they might want. They weren't just stuck with one thing, and that was very, very nice.

My brother moved into Holiday South Wind Heights. They're great. It's a clean building. Everything's easily accessible. They have plenty of recreational activities to involve the people that stay there. The food is good. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They will have people come in and perform. They do activities like bingo and cornhole. They did a cakewalk for Halloween. They try to find things that people can get involved with.

Holiday South Wind Heights was nice, neat, and clean. There are different types of people there. Some people are pretty much self-sufficient and are just there to have a safe place and they don't need any help. There are people there that need more care. I've known personally a couple of people who have lived there and they enjoyed it. It was expensive, but they liked it. One of my friends lived there for several years and she had already died. The other person that I know is still living there. They provide the three meals. You don't have to do your own cooking. He needs help with his medicine, and then all of his meals are provided. He even has a vehicle that he's able to drive. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave you directions on where to go. I didn't eat with my friend, but I saw what he was eating and it looked very nutritious. It didn't look like hospital food. It looked like real home-cooked food. I know that they have a physical therapy gym where they can do exercises. They play dominoes, cards, and puzzles. They even have a van that would take them if they wanted to go shopping. The van also takes them to doctors' appointments. The people that don't have cars can pretty much schedule any type of event that they want to go to that's local. It was way too expensive for me, but compared to other independent living places, it's a good price.

All the office staff have been nothing but nice and I enjoy. I’ll always want to be in my ‘home’ but I understand this is where I need to be and have made a lot of great friends.

Holiday South Wind Heights was really nice. All the residents were very happy with the staff, and the staff knew them all by first name as we went through our tour. The rooms were good. The dining area was good. They have a barber/beauty shop there in the facility and a lady comes in. It's like independent living with some assistance, but they do not have any medical people on staff there. They don't have a pool, but each room has a balcony that comes out of their units. If you want a walk-in shower and they don't have that in the room you want, they can cut that out and make it a walk-in shower. The staff was very friendly and very informative. We saw the food and they cook it there onsite. I saw a few upgrades that needed to be done like painting and the flooring. They supply a microwave, a small apartment refrigerator, and linens for the beds, but anything else you have to bring yourself.

South Wind Heights was a nice place for the price. They answered all of our questions, and they were professional. The apartments were exactly what we were looking for and the location was perfect. The place was clean, and they also provide activities.

South Wind Heights looked fantastic. It impressed me. The rooms were very nice. The staff was lovely, friendly, very helpful, and explained things real good. They have a pool table for the guys to play pool, a big room all set up to watch baseball games, some group activities, and an exercise room. The layout was also very nice. I liked the way they had the dining room set up where they could sit anywhere and how they can order. It was nice. I can't say enough about the place. I hadn't been to one before. We looked at other places that were more like assisted living, but they have my father in law locked in (which I don't think he'll leave there anyway). It's just ideal that he feels not so confined, and that he can move about the place. That's what I liked about South Wind Heights; he can move about the place to go to different areas, do different things, and then he can go back to his room when he gets tired. The facility was good and the first thing I noticed was it did not smell. It was very clean.

My uncle is placed in South Wind Heights. Everyone there is very helpful. It's been very nice to have all the people who work there help me through the process and help him get acclimated. They've been very accommodating and very nice. The place is well kept. The lawns and the landscaping are very well kept and manicured. It's very pretty. From the outside and the inside, it's kept really well. The dining room is nice. They have only just started going to use the dining room recently because of Covid. From what I've seen, it is very nice. They are starting to coordinate activities. They have a hair salon, so you get your hair cut. They do a lot of activities with the residents. They have onsite laundry, which is convenient.

South Wind Heights was nice. It as an older facility with wear and tear, but it's a nice facility. People were comfortable there, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They have a cafeteria; it's all-inclusive in the cost. Visitors had to sign in and sign out, and the residents had to sign out if they were leaving somewhere or with somebody, and sign back in. It's basically just an apartment complex for senior people. A meal was offered, but we did not eat there.

It has been a pleasure to live here post retirement. Although pandemic has limits, my life is still keep safe through restrictions for which I am very glad! I am glad we get meals brought to our room during pandemic. We (unlike others in home/apartments) don't worry about food. Excellent meals and snacks, have nursing care here. Received flu shot!

Great services when I needed them. They were always there when I needed them for help. They provided warm food when I need it. Especially, since the covid 19 appeared. They kept an eye on everything to prevent us catching it.

My mother has moved into South Wind Heights. The staff is excellent and friendly. They interact with my mother. They're just super people. I have no complaints. The area is spotless inside and out. They're taking the CDC precautions, making people wear masks and check-in every time, and asking the four questions about the virus. They're on top of things. According to my mother, the food is on a schedule, like breakfast is at a certain time, lunch and the snacks are all at a certain time, and it's always on schedule, so the food operation system is excellent. There's a list of activities that they can do on a daily basis.

South Wind Heights is very clean, but it would not help me at all. They have people that you hire if you don't feel like going and getting your dinner, but I can't pay. You have to hire to get everything done except for a few things, but I don't think that's what I need. Nevertheless, the staff member who assisted me was very knowledgeable, very considerate, and very kind.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

South Wind Heights was clean. The common areas were cozier like a place with a fireplace. It was a more expensive look, but I think the cost of living is about the same. The dining area and the common area had a lot more room. Of course, it was a lot larger facility. The staff was very nice, very accommodating, and very friendly. They seemed to care well for the residents. The girl who was taking me around was just friendly, talking to the residents, and knowing everybody by name. I would probably put them at a five if it weren't for the musty smell. In the elevator, it had a schedule on the wall showing the activities that they have and when they are.
