I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother lived in this facility long term for many years. I have watched it change management many times and there were times that things didn’t always go the way I wanted them but I can say that my brother was always happy there and they treated him like family. In recent years since covid I know things where difficult and I wasn’t able to visit like I used to but the staff always did their best keeping me updated and in contact with my brother. This the new administrator took over the facility has smelled fantastic and been very clean. The administrator staff is always helpful and available when I’ve got questions. The nurses and cnas obviously care about their residents. My brother has always been a little difficult but they did a wonderful job of managing him and he never expressed any complaints to me when I would go to visit. When my brother passed away the staff made it easy on me, taking care of contacting the funeral home and where very caring. I think that they are doing a wonderful job working to care for their residents and give them the best home they can. I am thankful for them for everything they did for my brother.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I would never allow my loved one to be sent here again! The conditions of the building are poor, with my grandfather's toilet unusable majority of the time. The staff is cold, and the few that are good employees are run out by the management. The majority of the employees are related, the mother being the boss of her own children, who are not fit to be employed in the healthcare field. The CEO is rude, and non personable to both residents and the family members. There are no actual activities for the patients to attend. The kitchen is always running out of food, and if the resident doesn't like what is served, they dont eat. Even though they say they offer alternative meals, the kitchen either doesn't have it, or they didn't ask in time. Most of the patients are thin and brittle, always having dirty clothing on. They sit in their rooms majority of the time, alone and not being checked on for hours at a time. I watched another patient who was obviously confused get up from his wheelchair and walk past employees shouting at him for getting up. The patient fell and already had a boot on his leg. The employees would rather yell at the resident and continue their conversations with their phones out than help the man like they are paid to do. I notified a nurse that I saw a bed bug. The CEO told me they didn't have bed bugs. Next visit, my grandfather came out with a bed bug on his shirt!!! This facility does not care for the patients there. If you want to send your family member to this prison before inevitably being sent to their death from lack of care provided, then this is the trashy facility for you!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I give Heritage-Hot Springs a top rating, not because they are the cleanest or most fully staffed nursing home (I challenge you to find one), but because of its staff who truly made my brother, a long-time resident, feel that he was home, that he had control over his own health decisions, that his opinions mattered, and that he had friends. My brother could be stubborn, demanding and quite difficult at times, and I forever will be grateful to those staff who were understanding of his frustrations and compassionate in their interactions with him - the most valuable things you can hope to find in any long-term care setting. A special thank you to hidden gems, Glenda L. and Megan D., for always taking time to speak with him, ensuring his sense of belonging and importance - those connections and assurances that we all as humans need.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My brother who just turned 48 had a stroke in 2016 at the age of 46. He now has vascular dementia...sad I know. He was thriving in a facility in Nebraska until his so called wife wouldn't turn his check over to them and had him transferred to a nursing home where they kept him sedated 20 out of 24 hours a day. My parents got custody of him and could do nothing with him so the owners of Heritage assured them that they could help...so far it has been 9 days and nothing. Each time I call I live out of state he is asleep the same as at home...they lost his clothes or should I say they gave them to another man with the same last name...and then he escaped and they do not take the blame. They put the blame on his visitors saying they left him in the courtyard which is a HUGE LIE!!!!! His nurse was seen going across the parking lot to take a smoke break. Then I was told today when I called that they could not give me any information on him because I was not on the paperwork. Be assured I know I am. Yes I had attitude this is my baby brother we're talking about. So no I don't think they are going to help him I think they are in it for the money and that is all.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I was in the home last week visiting my sister. The staff were very busy with residents and activities were ongoing in the dining area. The new administrator was making rounds and seemed to be everywhere (which is a switch from my past visits when I could not find them or they were always gone). He was very nice, and concerned when he introduced himself to me. The home could use a little TLC. The nursing staff give good care. Thank you.
