We chose StoneBridge because one, it is where we live. Two, it is where the majority of her doctors are at right now. Three, Mom knew people there that went to church with her and so that is a win-win sit on our part. Mom is doing pretty good. It's a nice place. She'd rather be at home, but she is not able to be at home at this time. If she could pick up her home and put it in the middle of StoneBridge she'd be quite happy. They had been very good to her and they are attentive. They have answered all of my question so far and granted any request I have, with Covid and everything like that and they went above and beyond. The staff seemed helpful and very nice. When she's in quarantine she would fuss a little sometimes because the food is cold but they bought her meals to her and I'm sure it won't be piping hot as what you would get from the dining hall. But other than that, they were edible she does not have much complaint about the food or anything. She feels right now that she wants to go home because she does not think she needs to be there. She's having memory problem because she's had a stroke. I've talked to other people who have parents that are residents and they said there are some times on holidays back before Covid they would go and eat a meal with their parents and they said food was always good. My mom has not complained about being hungry or needing any snacks. The building is really nice. Once she got out of the quarantine, and they had her in, she can see her family outside. If you give them some notice they can set up an area where you can come and visit your family and socially distance, but you are outside. They still want you to wear a mask and do things like that but they made it to be where it's not as hazardous because you are outside, and you are not going in and possibly spreading anything. The room is nice and is about 200 sq foot. I believe you can get a large room. If you are married, they have a suite. I have not been in all of the room, but let's just say my apartment is smaller.

My mom is a resident of StoneBridge Blytheville. It's close to where my daughter lives. I live like three and a half hours away, but my daughter can check on her quite a bit. I also have a sister that lives there that helps with her. Since she's been in the facility, they've done a good job of communicating with us any issues that she's having. They are willing to get her to and from her doctors' appointments. There are some negatives to it because a lot of times there's not a good follow up. I don't really feel like that they often do what they say they're going to do, so we have to kind of stay on top of it ourselves. That's part of the assisted living thing, they're not there to take care of her 100%. It's assisted, so part of that is our own mother's responsibility and ours as well. It was just a little inconvenient for me if my daughter can't get there or my sister can't. I'm three and a half hours away. It's kind of hard for me to do some of the things that I need them to do. My mother has Alzheimer's. They don't really have a memory care floor or wing, but they're doing a really good job of taking care of her memory issues regardless of that. Under the current conditions with Covid and all the quarantining and the staffing issues, there are a lot of things that are kind of out of their control. I'm trying to be a little lenient about some things because of that; however, it's still my mom. I kind of worry about her a lot. I think that they have a lot of staffing issues, so that they are having a hard time being able to take care of everybody. I think each CNAs has like 12 residents that they're responsible for, and that's a lot. My mom's eating well, so I think the food must be pretty good for her. She has a special diet that she eats, and I do make sure she eats. I've been up there while she was eating before, and she eats well. Back in February, they had a freeze. The pipes had frozen in her room, and that room is still not fixed. They had to move her to a different room and left all of her things in the old room. Some of it got molded or mildewed. I was pretty upset about that whole ordeal. They did move her into a bigger room and that was good, but she didn't have the kitchenette anymore. They also took away her microwave and her refrigerator. Well, she's got a refrigerator in the new room, but it is just a small one. It was just kind of a bad deal. They really didn't alert us to let us know what was going on. We would go in there and we'd be like, "are you going to move all of her stuff down there to her other room? What are you doing?" They didn't want to move it then because there's liability if they break her personal belongings and stuff. We moved the rest of it for her. They play bingo, and I know that on holidays they have special little celebrations and things like that. I don't think they feel that she needs some physical activity, and I don't think that they're really encouraging that as much as they should. But then again, after she had her stroke, she came out of it remarkably well. However, it still set her back up pretty good bit.

It took five years to finally get my Mom to consider a different arrangement. One she moved yo Stonebridge she has come to life. There is something for her to do everyday and visitors are free to check in and see her. She is happy and her health has improved greatly from just knowing she will have 3 meals a day, served on time and help with dressing and emotional and physical help when needed.

I visitied this ALF in the hopes of talking my Mom into living there. It is very pretty, the rooms are spacious and cozy. They have a fireplace in the lobby. The menu seems to be fantastic! If I could go, I would. Mom still hasn't made up her mind.
