My visit to Wood-Lawn was good. It was decorated very nicely and it was clean; the staff that assisted me was just wonderful and very friendly. The rooms were fine and there's not a problem with them. We could not afford it, but they have good reviews. Their amenities looked fine; they had a game room, craft room, a beauty salon, and an outdoor court. I think they had about what you can imagine you'll need. I didn't see anything going on at the time.

My great grandmother lived at Wood-Lawn for many years. She lived semi-interdependently in a duplex apartment. She had the ability to cook for herself in her apartment, but she was also able to go the cafeteria for meals. The facility provided nurses and doctors to care for her when needed. The facility also provided a van service to drive her places such as doctor visits and shopping. The staff was very nice, and my great grandmother seemed to enjoy living there. Her apartment was a nice size. A married couple could have lived there very comfortably. She had a full size bedroom, bathroom, and living room. The kitchen was small, but sufficient. The bathroom was also equipped with safety equipment, which made the whole family feel better about her staying there. If I had one complaint, it would be the fact that her apartment was dirty. I don't know if a cleaning service was offered or not. If a maid ever came to clean for her, then I never saw one. My great grandmother was not able to do much of her own house cleaning, so the rest of the family tried to pitch in to do this for her.

I used to deliver oxygen and medical supplies to patients in nursing facilities. I have been in over 15 homes in the state and I have to say that by far, if I had a family member needing one, I would recommend Wood-Lawn Nursing Home in Batesville AR. The first visit that I had there I noticed many things. The first was the missing smell of urine that seems to permeate so many other facilities. The storage locations for oxygen and medical supplies was always very clean and neat, and properly maintained and labeled correctly. I also service a few patients in the home, and noticed that they were always clean, seemed to be well taken care of, and when I was able to speak with them, they always had good things to say about the staff that took care of them. I really got a good sense that the employees actually cared and were proud to take quality care of their patients. Whenever I needed to speak with staff they were very friendly and very knowledgeable about dealing with the oxygen and the other products that we serviced. Overall, I have not since then been in a home that compared to Wood-Lawn Nursing Home.
