We moved into Garden Ridge Senior Living. So far, it's been very good. We're very pleased with it. Everything has been very nice. The people are very friendly and they're doing everything that needs doing around here. Meals are included. Sometimes the meals are very good, sometimes it needs improvement. There are all kinds of activities and things for people to be involved in, and then they have the transportation services. They take you to the stores and to the doctors. They also have a salon for the hair and nails. The staff is great, and everyone has been wonderful.

Garden Ridge Senior Living was nice. They had a pool, a spa, and everything that we liked. They had everything there, like 3 meals a day and bingo that I liked. They had housekeeping. The staff gave us the tour, showed us everything, and she was nice. The dining area was nice and big. Everything was great. They had everything that I liked. We spoke to 2 residents, and they said they liked it there.

Garden Ridge Senior Living is the one that I would go with. They're very friendly and very thorough with what's available and work with you in any way you needed. I like the activities and the camaraderie that they seem to have. They're remodeling, and they're doing their best to keep it clean and nice for the residents. They showed the library, the exercise room, the pool and hot tub, and the dining room.

It was pretty nice. Their apartments were all fine and the place was really large, which was nice, but by the same token that makes it hard to get around when you're really old. The staff member that I met there was fine and the residents all seemed to be enjoy themselves. My tour there was very nice; the place itself was just nice. I saw the room there, walked around, and the person who gave me the tour showed me around. They have nice common areas.

I really liked it here. It was very nice and offered a nice daily schedule of activities and meals. It felt like a vacation home or a resort. It was pretty. It's great that they had continuing care as well.

I have chosen this community. I like it mostly because of the cleanliness factor and the amount of attention that they paid towards explaining everything. The model rooms were quite nice. They’re very well executed. They have been staged, and they are staged very nicely. They are very nice units. I know that they have chair exercise classes, some Bible classes, a wine and cheese get-together on Wednesdays, and a cocktail hour on Fridays. I’ll be in the independent living.

We decided on this community and have already made arrangements; we are going to be moving there around May of next year. It is both assisted living and independent living, and it is our plan to go into independent living if we can. One of the reasons we picked Amethyst is that if we go into independent care, we can stay in the same room and transition from independent care to assisted care; we don't have to move again. In almost every other place we checked, we would have to move and change rooms, and my wife is not really good about packing up and moving, so she wants to make one last move and then no more. It was very nice. We actually were familiar with Amethyst because my wife's mother was in Amethyst from about 1993 to about 2006, and then she passed away. So, she had been in there all those years, and we were very familiar with it, but because it's been several years, we still wanted to check everybody else out. We were pleased with Amethyst. The staff, facilities, and meals were exactly what we wanted. We wanted three meals a day; a lot of the facilities only had two meals a day. We wanted housekeeping every week; a lot of the facilities only had it every other week. We wanted a two-bedroom, two-bath, and we wanted a large one; a lot of them didn't have big enough rooms among other things. We wanted certain things as far as activities to do, and we asked a lot of them what kind of activities they had scheduled for people. We like the theater and dinners out, and several of them didn't really provide that. So, Amethyst is the only one that had everything we really liked.
