I visited this facility

We toured La Loma Village. I liked it because it was clean. The people were very cordial. We had lunch and the lunch was just delicious. The floor plans were beautiful. You could go in there, and if you wanted them to change the carpet or whatever, they will do that. I don't know if you have to pay for that, but they will take whatever you need and they will do it. They have everything. They have a recreation room, they have a gym and a library, they have a theater, everything that you would need. If you were living there, you could have a van to take you to the store, and sometimes they take you on little excursions. It was perfect. They have a beautiful chef there. It's closer to where I live, so I wouldn't have to travel across town to go to church.

I am/was a resident of this facility

It was about 18 months ago when my husband and I moved into our lovely 2bedroom/2bath apartment in La Loma Village. We took seriously the thought of downsizing and found that our unit was really all we needed and then some. We were overwhelmed by the warmth of community that we felt from day one. Residents and staff welcomed us with open arms. A happy point of my day is when we push the elevator button to go down for a delicious dinner with friends served in a fine dining atmosphere. Laughter is a regular part of our day as we enjoy the many activities here. If you can't find your keys, or remember a couple of dates, it's time to come to La Loma. It's not your age, but your stage of life that matters, and La Loma is equipped to help you at every stage of life. Life here is amazing!

La Loma Village had full kitchens, which was a plus for us. We have almost a requirement of two bathrooms and they were able to do one and a half bathrooms, which is fine. The second bedroom was usually a little bit smaller than the master, of course, but they were all very nicely laid out and convenient. I was pleased. The apartments we were looking at were all on the first floor because we have a dog, so we would have access to going out with the dog on the first floor without making her go through hallways with lots of people. The menu looked great. You can have casual dining or dress-up dining if you want. It just seemed to be a good fit for us. The lady who did the tour was full of information. She offered information that we would not think to ask the question, which of course, I think is an excellent attribute for someone who's in marketing and giving a tour. She just offered lots of scenarios and options and took us around to see people in action, which sometimes doesn't happen when you go on a tour.

We did a tour of La Loma Village. They required quite a large down payment, close to 200,000. They didn't kind of assess her situation before they just started taking us around places. Had they talked to her to find out what she was looking for, it probably would have saved us and them some time. They were also late for the appointment, but other than that, it was a nice facility. They were nice enough. They did have some nice features. They have a lot of medical facilities nearby, which is a huge benefit for a lot of people. The facility was very nicely appointed and clean.

We visited La Loma Village, and it was good. Their financial setup is a big different, which is what kind of drove us away. The apartments were very small and costly. They provided three meals a day. The rooms were a lot smaller, but the facility itself was nice. They had a lot of activities, a big swimming pool, and exercise, just like most of the other places do. The location was good. I wish they could bring their prices down a bit; however, they are paying medical staff, so I can understand why it's expensive, but the rooms definitely need to be bigger. The staff was great. The food was really good. It's very clean. They have a salon, a movie theater, exercising classes, bingo, church services, and lots of things.

La Loma Village is a high-end community. It is more than what my mom could afford. Everything was fine, and it was a beautiful place, but it was too expensive for her. They had rehabilitation facilities, a swimming pool, weekly outings, and indoor activities. It offered plenty. I think it is an awesome facility. The dining area looked like a small restaurant inside. It was awesome.

I’m moving to La Loma Village at the end of the month. I think they’re wonderful. It’s a very good choice. The staff is first rate; really good. They know their stuff. I’ve been to several of their events and enjoyed it. I’ve met several of the people and had a good time knowing them. They are friendly and very accommodating with fixing my apartment now to specifications. They’re very welcoming to people coming on tour just to check it out. It’s a better fit for me because it’s smaller. It’s more out in the country with trees and hills. It’s also closer to my church where I have most of my friends. It’s very clean; it’s 11 years old, and it has more of a neighborhood feeling.

La Loma Village has around 64 independent living units. We were very happy with it, but they didn’t have certified gluten-free food. It was very clean. They have a full gym for exercise, a swimming pool, and a lot of clubs. We have friends that moved there around 5 months ago who are very happy with it. The rooms were very nice and attractive.

La Loma is a whole learning campus. They have a hospital with medical students there that come over and visit with the patients while doctors do rounds there. If a patient gets hurt or sick they go straight to their hospital, and then come back. So they do everything for them. Their pricing was weird. What they do is charge you upfront anywhere from $160,000 to $400,000 to get in; depending on what your needs are when you go in. Then, they only charge you $2,000 a month for the rest of your life. If you have an ailment or whatever, you go to their hospital. If you have a rehab that you have to do, you go to their rehab center. The main building is two-stories. You can go in there, and be assisted living or they have a whole different section that has memory care. It’s a beautiful facility, but it’s a learning campus. Instead of being houses for students the housing is for the elderly, but they have everything that you would need there. This is what one of the residents was telling me. They owned a home, they sold that home, and then put the money from what they got on their home as down payment on this. Now this takes less than half of their income to live there for the rest of their life, and they have all their meals there. Their meals are like restaurant-style too, but they have all their meals. They come and go. These people had their own cars. So, they live there as if they’re living in an apartment or a resort type hotel.

You have to be totally independent when you move into La Loma and the financial obligations are extreme; my mother wasn’t able to satisfy neither of those areas. She’s not independent and isn’t willing to commit to the initial financial obligations. The rooms are very nice. We did look at some of the very first little casitas that they had and then when we took the tour in the last 6 months, it was very nice.

La Loma Village was one of the nicest places we had visited. It was very well constructed and appointed. It had a broad range of services everywhere from an independent living to a nursing home care, and a hospital was on the premises. They had a fabulous kitchen and dining facility. They also had an excellent exercise room. It was a very nicely maintained beautiful facility. It was outstanding. The staff was both knowledgeable and accommodating. They had buses that take residents wherever they need to go and they bring in outside entertainment. They also had a movie room available. The apartments were very nicely appointed with a balcony or a patio. It was a very pleasant place.

La Loma Village is both independent living and assisted living. It is excellent. It is an individual based place and not a group. The room and the dining room are very nice. They were updating what wasn't updated.

We lived in La Loma before. When we started off, they had gourmet food and it was good but there were some things that have fallen through the cracks a little bit. We had a condo type apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area, and a garage. They had a care center in another building for rehab and assisted living in the main building. They had a bus that would take you to the theaters. They have different shows to see and we also had a big pool.
